The Wee Con strikes back! This year, we're having our shenanigans in Glasgow! Join us for piratical nonsense, craft, drag and fun 💖
https://ourflagmeans.community/
Hello hello, lovelies! We're almost 6 months away from our event and thought it was about time to give you a little update on our current status for TWC 2. We're well on our way already, with the biggest expenses already covered ❤️
Thanks to all of you who have grabbed tickets already, we have covered the cost of the main theatre area and the social space for hanging out.
Tech costs and AV for the live streams are the next target and after that, additional rooms and swag 🥰
We'll keep you updated with our progress!
Is Your Nose in the Jar Yet? For Once, You DO Want to Wind Up In Here!❤️
Hail and well met! We will be opening the submissions for panels on June 1st, so have a think about what you would like to present on!
This year, we’re having a variety of panel lengths, so if 45 minutes seemed a bit overwhelming, have no fear, we will also have our shorter ED and NED Talks at a maximum of 20 minutes.
We’re also opening slots for “Little Bits” – 5-minute slots to wax lyrical about your chosen topic.
We will also be opening submissions for workshops on a separate form, which we will drop a few days after the panels one to save on confusion. Each one will be announced on the release
We are a source of knowledge on many OFMD and piratical things! Let’s have fun with it!
Hail and wellmet, lovelies! Since we love a nice round number here at OFMC HQ, today is exactly 210 days until The Wee Con 2! That's right! Exactly 30 weeks today, we're descending on Glasgow! Tickets are available through our website and now, we can open our Pay-It-Forward requests!
Pay-it-forward tickets are donated by fellow OFMD fans to give people who might not otherwise be able to come a chance to attend the event 😊 We have a bit in the kitty now if anyone would like to apply. To submit a request for a ticket, pop over to our form here.
While we can't guarantee everyone who applies will get a ticket right away, we'll add you to a waiting list in case any spares or additional ones become available 💖
Hello hello to one and all! Have no fear, we haven't forgotten you :) We're currently working out the scheduling for all forthcoming submission requests et al.
Meanwhile, tickets are available now through our portal!
The Wee Con 2026 – The Social Hub, Fri 6 Nov 2026 - Sun 8 Nov 2026
Since the store is now live - we have a couple of t-shirts that are in-person only, but due to popular demand, we've made a couple of items available for people who aren't able to attend in person. This is a little information about how it will work!
Said shirts/totes can be ordered now, but they will not be available until shortly before the convention, when we get the whole batch done together. It won't be immediately dispatched.
There will be shipping charges in addition to the cost, but to keep these as low as possible we have a plan: Our attendees come from all over and we have folk willing to be our couriers to take batches the US, mainland Europe and for general shipping further afield, depending on where these little fellas need to go.
It will also be quicker to ship internally than to have all of them go through customs.
We can't say exactly what the shipping cost will be at this point (yay economic instability and inflation! Woo!), but when we get closer to the date and once the t-shirts have been received and packaged up, we should be able to provide an estimate and get them on to you after the event.
Our Kickstarter is coming to an end and some of you might be concerned that we haven’t reached our goal. To reassure you: Wee Con 2026 in Glasgow is happening!
To get everything in place, we’re changing our ticketing approach – read on for more details & what’ll happen next.
When the WeeCon2 Kickstarter was being put together, we set our target to 'all or nothing'. This covered all room options at our chosen venue, our lovely AV specialist from Edinburgh, and a little extra to cover Kickstarter fees, which can be quite substantial.
We've had a positive enough response to the campaign that we know the event can go ahead, but we also realise that this is a busy time, and the limited span of such a campaign doesn't necessarily suit every attendee.
With this in mind, we will be switching all sales over to TicketTailor once the Kickstarter ends. This means that you won’t be charged for the kickstarter and instead of receiving a code post-campaign to claim your ticket, you can simply buy the ticket directly from our TicketTailor shop.
If all who have already pledged purchase the corresponding tickets and extras in this way, we will secure our main hall, AV specialist and social areas, which are enough for the convention to happen. Additional tickets sold will cover more workshops and other rooms.
Pay it forward tickets, extras and the ability to donate will all still be available, and there will be no need to follow additional instructions to secure your tickets later on, nor will those buying tickets later on have to wait for campaign tickets to be claimed first.
Ticket Tailor fees are also lower, meaning that our overall target for more workrooms will be lower too. The greater the funds, the more we can do, and as with last year, any residual funds will be donated to charity.
We will keep you posted as we move forward. And for those whose plans are not fixed: while we would love to see everyone there, we understand things can change. Tickets will be refundable until the date we need to lock down final venue arrangements, which will be 15th September 2026
A week in and we're heading towards the 50% mark on the kickstarter 🥳 For the curious, here are some of the shenanigans we are planning for The Wee Con 2!
Like TWC 1, we're going to have panels, but this time around, it'll be a mix of long-form or short-form, depending on peoples' preference. All panels will be streamed again, the same way as last year. Submissions will open once we get the funding sorted and know how much room we'll have.
(Special mention to the fact that this year will *not* be happening on one of the two weekends of the year when the UK/USA timezone difference is completely forked by daylight savings 😅 )
We're also planning on running workshops again due to popular demand, although we're still working on the fairest way to make sure the sign ups are available to everyone and not just our earliest birds.
Which leads nicely onto informal crafting sessions between panels. Since we'll have tables in our theatre this time, it's a fun way to let everyone have a chill now and then, we'll be setting up crafting tables with different kinds of media to dabble in.
Flag-making will be back of course, but we're putting together some other shiny things. And glue. So much glue.
There will also be Calypso's Market again because we as a fandom are known to be magpies. We can't confirm how many tables and/or slots there will be yet, since we need to do the usual room-tetris and work out where/when/how things will be set up.
And, of course, we'll be featuring a costume showcase and drag show because as much as we're magpies, we also love a bit of dress-up. The drag show will round out our closing-night party and hopefully, a fab time will be had by all and sundry :)
There is also a bonus special tea party in the offing! Do you want seven lumps of sugar and a dollop of milk? How about some orange cake? Stede's afternoon tea is being organised by Hayley at one of the delightful establishments in the city 🫖
And lastly, we're doing some comms updates through our website with a blog set up for any new developments, so any updates will be added here, there and on our tumblr as soon as hands and eyes coordinate: ourflagmeans.community/blog-list
Good news for our TWC attendees! We have got the available VOD streams online and you should be receiving a message from tickettailor with your access information :)
A few panels are still waiting for their release forms, but as soon as we get them, we'll have those panels online too.
We had a lot of fantastic panels at TWC last year.
This year, we'd like to shake things up a bit - for anyone who didn't feel comfortable with filling an hour, we're planning 15 minute mini-panels. Like a TED talk, if you will. Only OFMD flavoured 😉
For general and wide-ranging knowledge from weather patterns and special interests in fabric to a well-crafted fuckery, we will have Ed talks.
For anything a bit more... grisly, gory and anatomically exploratory (with eyes or hot pokers), NED talks are the place to be.
So have a think and a plan and once the kickstarter is done and we know the state of play, we'll be opening submissions! We're nerding! Let's have fun with it!
Where: The Social Hub, Glasgow.
It's a lovely modern venue with great accessibility, lots of spaces and several places to eat on site. It's also a hotel, so attendees will be able to stay on site. (We will also be getting discount codes for accommodation, so hold fire on booking!)
When:
The event is running from Friday 6th November to Sunday 8th November.
We'll have shenanigans afoot throughout the day and into the evenings over the weekend. There's also a space for a craft fair, because we can't *not* have one of those.
How much:
Unfortunately, since the venue hire is higher than the combined total of both venues last year and then some, we will have raise the ticket prices a little. However, Glasgow is a much more budget-friendly city than Edinburgh, even based where we are right in the centre, so the costs may end up being even less overall ❤️
Full event tickets - £140 plus (with discounted rates on hotel and parking through the venue)
Saturday/Sunday only - £110
One day tickets - £80
Online only - £30
We will be expanding our pay-it-forward option as well to include full tickets.
What next:
We’re aiming to get the kickstarter up and running as soon as possible and a link will be dropped in here when it goes live. We’ll also be adding all current updates and news to the website with a blog feature so you can see the latest developments and news as it comes in.
Submissions for panels, workshops and crafting will all be after the kickstarter. Plenty of time to don your planning caps!
If you're intimidated by the idea of a full-length panel, we're hoping to run a selection of short panels as well as longer ones so don't worry about filling an hour :)
And once again thank you all for your enthusiasm about our event! We're so excited to do it all again, this time with less stairs and absolutely zero Escher architecture 😅
Our Wee Con 2025 post-event survey is now live here. It's long but we really want to hear your thoughts on how the event went and what you would change for the future. 👀
This survey is for everyone, even if people didn't attend Wee Con - we want to know what kinds of events and activities you want to see going forward! So feel free to pass it along to others as you see fit. (There are specific sections for people who did and didn't attend).
Did you miss out on the first Behind Our Flag? Well, I'm delighted to announce that we have partnered with the excellent @ofmc-twc for 2 charity screenings of Behind Our Flag THIS SUNDAY on January 4th (UK/EU and US timezones).
So, come and join us for these one time only watch-alongs as we raise money for three very worthy causes selected by and for the OFMD crew. (No pressure to donate, but it makes you eligible for some very cool prizes... 👀).
Pop over to the OFMC website for more details on how to join in, or hop straight over the Discord Server.
