BIOGRAPHY
( Trigger Warnings: murder )
Catalina doesn’t remember much of her time before Elias. She recalls being scared, and young, and darting across the uneven expanse of her homeland until her lungs nearly gave up after her mother had screamed at her to run. She no longer recalls the woman’s face, nor her mannerisms, yet she will always remember that voice. The sheer fear in it as she had pushed her only child behind her as she tore into her panther form -- Catalina never was able to settle in a place for long after that. The hunter guild that had murdered her family were relentless, yet eventually she learnt how to stay just out of reach. Moving around from place to place and never giving them the opportunity to catch up.
She couldn’t have been much older than her early twenties when she eventually bumped into the original Witch that would later become so deeply engrained into her very soul she couldn’t imagine life without him -- Quite literally, bumped into him. She had become so adept at looking over her shoulder, she’d briefly forgotten the importance of looking ahead. As if fated there’d been an instant acknowledgement there. An unspoken understanding and seemingly simultaneous sense of trust that settled within her and held her intrigue as opposed to the usual urge to run. They spoke of many things in the weeks that followed, but it eventually ended in a colloquial deal of sorts. A promise of protection in exchange for power which blossomed into so much more.
They were by each other’s side for a good few months before Elias eventually believed his ritual would be sufficient for what needed to be done. When the witch first came to her with talk of binding and a blood magic she had dismissed it entirely, but over the corse of their time together she’d begun to understand exactly what being under his protection felt like. The exhaustion and unsustainability that accompanied her old life was something she knew in her heart she couldn’t face going back to. She finally felt safe for the first time since her mother died, and if granting a small part of her power to a man she appreciated anyway so he could liberate some of his own was how that sense of security would remain? -- Well, it didn’t seem all that terrible to her.
What she hadn’t been anticipating was the aftermath, that loss of freewill in his ability to command her now. He was a good man, and deep down in her heart she knows his admission of it being a side effect he hadn’t known at the time to be true -- But it certainly hadn’t prevented her from making his life a little miserable in response. She would work with him to liberate his kin because she understood the importance in that, everything else was fair game in her view. She spent more time in her panther form than out of it, prowling around and scaring off his associates. Eventually coming out of said form only to end up in heated arguments with the ‘Master’ she was now to serve. It certainly made for a rocky start to their relationship, but over time she did grow a little more accustom to their new way of things. Catalina knew how truly wretched he could make her life if he wished too, and yet he never had. No matter what she did he still treated her like an equal, like family, and an offer to go after the hunter guild that had murdered her own had been the final piece in her eventual acceptance of her situation.
There was many, many slip ups and arduousness consideration in the beginning. An inability to not carry out any order given despite her best efforts accompanied by a need for Elias to change his entire vocabulary around her certainly didn’t make for a smooth transition. Even now, if he starts giving her orders she isn’t fully agreeable with she certainly doesn’t make his life easy, but they grew into a deep understanding of one-another over the years. He is her closest friend and confidant, the family she had lost. She stuck by his side through his reclusion, and they remained the one constant in each other’s lives through the millenniums that followed.
The pair have had far more ups than downs over their long lives together, and even their worst arguments would result in little more than a month of so to cool off before reuniting again. No matter how bad things got, she knew that she was welcome by Elias’ side always, just as he was with her. Even on the very odd occasions they weren’t talking there was still a comfort in each other’s presence. Remnants of that original ritual now so engrained in the witch community many didn’t even think to question such a bond. Catalia never has and never will care much for politics. That aspect has always been left up to Elias and for good reason...Although she doesn’t entirely understand the rational behind his betrothal given the subsequent dangers it will bring, her main priority remains as it always has: To keep her witch safe.
