His fingers drum against the tabletop idly, throwing the blonde besides him a surreptitious glance. Under normal circumstances, heâd be as arrogant as ever,  making conversation with everyone else at the table perhaps. Considering heâs got absolutely zero in common with his surrounding company, Lauchlan is completely out of his element, However. âSo. â He nods casually, âHowâs it going?â
â Lucky ⌠ No, more like  smarter  than we  ever were. Funny how that works out. Sheâs  more  restless  than  the  both of us and yet  here we are.  All  because  she  covers her  tracks better. â
        A rare sight of welcome, he smiles softly, accepting         the gesture, by reaching to cover his cousinâs hand         on  his  shoulder  with  his  own and supplies it with         firm pressure.Â
â Not long? How do you figure that? â
He wipes an imaginary tear in response, chuckling out loud . âA real riot, that one.  Be sure to give her Hell from both of us when yer see her again. â                 To say heâs  surprised by his cousinâs                 gesture  is an understatement. He swallows                 in response, inclining his head in recognition                 to it before he presses on.Â
â Well,â Lauchlan shifts in his chair uncomfortably, âthink fast Lochie.â â They canât keep us here forever  aye? â
Alesia smirked and leaned slightly more forward. âI donât quite believe that, Lauchlan. I think youâre all games.âÂ
He watches her carefully, feigning indifference.                    â âGuess that makes two of us.â
She narrowed her eyes at him, tilting her head and raising an eyebrow.âI see how it is.â She smirked, folding her paper and resting it on her lap. Alesia met his eyes and didnt look away, in a way testing him âTwo can play at that game.â She said, holding her stare.
Oh sheâs a riot alright. He laughs, leaning back in his seat. âNever said I was playing a game.  Iâm a hundred percent serious.       Among other things. â
Alesia;;
Her ears turned pink at the attitude she hadnât realized she put into the statement. She quickly covered her surprise with a slight smirk pointed his way as she looked back at her newspaper. âNo, but you have permission to sit beside me, if you must.â She said, a slight smile in her voice.
He laughs in response, deciding heâs not quite done having his fun.        âNah come to think of it, I didn't            really want to sit there. â Getting to his feet, Lauchlan moves to seat himself on the opposite end of the room instead, giving her a cheeky grin.Â
Richard Madden and his magical eyebrows (requested by jac30lyn)
alesia;;
âWhat are you doing here?â Alesia questioned with an aggravated look on her face as she put her newspaper down with a huff.
â Last time I looked this was a free space.â Completely unperturbed he took a seat besides  her, chuckling as he went on. âWhy âyou saving it for someone?  â
Little cousin;;
 Did the red accents in his brown hair really have to be  so  prominent?  Wasnât the guilt he held day after day  enough?
   â If I could put as much distance from the U.K     and myself, I would. Unfortunately,  itâs  Nels     who possesses that happy privilege. â
â Aye. Sheâs the lucky one then.â A harsh, barking laugh is ripped from his throat, reaching over tentatively to put a hand to Lyleâs shoulder, a brotherly gesture.        âCome on now. Youâre made of sterner             stuff than that. Not long now & youâll be free                          of this hell hole.â  He almost wants to spit on English soil, that Scottish finesse that runs in his veins far stronger than any gentlemanly demeanour.Â
 And there came the dreaded question. They hadnât spoken about that day â  well â they hadnât even spoken at the funeral. He had no words to offer the  Scots. He had no words to offer himself, besides those far worse than what  had just tumbled from his cousinâs mouth over a stubbed toe.
        â Is that what Iâm supposed to be doing here? âÂ
 Maybe if he feigned a smile this would be easier. Maybe he would be able to  ignore the cadence with which Lauchlan spoke, so reminiscent of the person  they had both lost.
     He can see her, every time he looks at Lyle,      a lump forming in his throat. But however      difficult it is to remember his aunt, itâs Lyle     thatâs lost a mother. That smile isn't fooling     him, nor, he wagers, is the one he gives in     return.            â You tell me. â
SĂŠbastien, slightly taken aback by the Princeâs comment, furrowed his brow. âIâve unfortunately never been to Scotland, but to my knowledge, table legs are a worldwide phenomenon,â Seb said in a slightly teasing manner.
ââAye, table legs are.English table legs on the other hand are a different story. â It's safe to say, the Scottish blood coursing through those veins loathes every inch of the country.
âLetâs just hope the headline is flatteringââScottish Prince Bested by English Wallâ is probably not what you had in mind.â She said with a smirk, before faltering for only a second, âYou didnât break anything, did you?â It was poor form to mock someone who was actually injured.
â& youâd be the first to give them an   exclusive interview on what happened   Iâm sure.â That dry retort is followed with a grin, unable to stay irritable for long.Â
â Break anything? Course not. Trust me, Â I would've been swearing a lot louder. â
⢠mattheu;;                   Â
âWell, some of it anyway. The weatherâs certainly a little cheerier at this time of year, thatâs for sure.â Mattheu glanced down at Lauchlanâs bare foot, the pinky-toe looking red and swollen. âYou sure about that? I hate to say it, but that could be broken, man.â
âI wouldn't know anything about that.   Weâve got two settings back home,   rain & extra rain â  He barely glanced at the injury, waving away Mattheuâs concern with a pat on the shoulder. â  Donât underestimate a Scot.    Weâre made of sterner stuff then that. â
âWouldnât that be the coolest explanation? Personally I love your swearing, itâs so⌠colourful. In French, our words are just church words used in an upset tone.â
â well, itâs an art really. The swearing.   If you can swear like a sailor, toss a   log & wear a kilt youâre a regular Scot.â  He cringes at the mention of his own  national dress.Â
âOn second thought, scratch that last one. â
âWow, you took that like a champâ
âIâll take that as a compliment.           Had fun watchinâ that did you Eloise?  â
⢠sebastien;;
âYou sure? Iâve turned that corner dozens of times and feel like I need the emergency room every time.â
ââ You know, we wouldn't have this problem in Scotland.â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Thereâs a certain bitterness to that tone.Â
âYour spectacular vocabulary indicates otherwise. Do we need to call in th Guard?â
  âYeah. Call in the cavalry. Why not.      All eyes on me, whoâs going to complain about that?  âÂ
