i’ve kinda been iffy about posting this bc it’s been a while so i wasnt sure, but if anyone is lurking and would be interested in continuing to thread/plot/interact with suae, feel free to reply to this and i’ll message you from my indie! ^^
𓂋 ֺ🪷˚.☆ it was jinsol's day off, much to her chagrin. she didn't have much to do outside of the hotel but her fellow staff members had practically forced her hand, saying she needed some kind of fresh air and to see the sun for the first time in months. both were gross exaggerations but she could definitely see their point. she was becoming quite the stranger to anywhere outside of the night district. she couldn't remember the last time she came into town square for anything, if she were honest.
it was a shame she was such a shut in by choice. the town square was filled with colors, the noise of a bustling community, and the smells of something delicious, likely from the sweet exchange. she had been thinking maybe the sweet exchange was just what she needed when a voice broke her from her thoughts. "treasure?" she murmured, echoing the woman with the radiant smile who seemed to be talking to her.
she couldn't be sure, though,as those in town often overlooked or ignored her so she looked around and couldn't find anyone else in particular she could be speaking to. still, she was skeptical and raised a finger to point towards herself. "me?" she squeaked, half excited at the thought someone had noticed her specifically and half anxious she'd make a fool out of herself.
"yes, you!" suae reaffirmed the other with a bright smile. "come, come!" she ushered the other further into the store with the wag of her hand. it wasn't as if she worked off of a commission, but the store was slow that day ( every day, really ) and a little company never hurt anyone.
"and if none of these suit your fancy, we also have jewelry in the back...or vintage clothing downstairs...or fun trinkets i once found on the beach! the owner considers it my own personal lost and found collection." the girl rambled on and on with a small chuckle to herself. as soon as she realized her eyesight shifted focus from the other, suae snapped back to the other with a quick shake of her head.
"so sorry! the conversation got away of me. did any of those options happen to suit your fancy?"
been busy with work and other things the last few days, but im hoping to be able to get to threads and messages either later today or tomorrow! thank you for being patient with me !
also saw a message dropped in my inbox from that anon…im so sorry to our admin team having to deal with that. your care towards mabeob and simply wanting a community for writers to find a home in without any stress or pressures has been very apparent (at least to me). it’s what drew me in to apply in the first place! :)

"isn't it neat? i really can't get enough of all the treasures we have in store. don't be shy! come take a closer look!" suae hovered behind the customer, peeking back and forth excitedly between the shelf on display and the other's reaction, before retreating backwards to allow comfortable viewing room. "i promise that they're all in tip-top shape— i tend to them myself every week! greaaaat for presents too! what do you say?" she looked up with a pleading gaze, eagerly awaiting a hopefully positive response.

BACKGROUND
found unconscious along the shores of mabeob by an elderly baek youngja around the assumed age of 6 years old
suae has no recollection of her life prior to her peculiar arrival
she was eventually taken in by grandma baek who lived alone
initially, she lived quietly while grandma baek attempted to find out who she was and where she could call a home to. all the while, the lost girl followed her around like a little duckling, keeping her company around town as she completed daily tasks and such
eventually, when it seemed as though there were no one out there looking for the little girl, grandma baek decided to raise her as her own, granting suae her name the moment she'd decided to do so
suae has been grateful and goes above and beyond to assist "her grandma" and loves her dearly
however, in an attempt to maintain the peaceful bliss of their life together, suae hides the fact the she is a mermaid — a secret she hadn't even discovered the truth of until her early teen years
she's still unsure as to how her abilities as a mermaid had remained hidden until then, especially her tears that became beautifully round pearls, but she attempts to learn bits and pieces of her "true self" through stories and folktales told around the island
PERSONALITY
i very much had the little mermaid in mind for inspo!!
she's very sweet and naive — a true hopeless romantic in search of her true love!! a prince in shining armor!!!
extremely headstrong and stubborn, suae will always fight for what she believes in regardless of the consequences
one of the most loyal people you will meet! she loves passionately and fiercely and will do anything for her loved ones. even if you were to betray or hurt her, she wouldn't be able to forget your connection and would still be on your side until the end
bright, bubbly, a ray of sunshine — words often used to describe her around town. however, the complete opposite could be said for those who had known her as a child, when she first arrived in mabeob
those who also grew up with her in the outskirt homes area as well as classmates from grade school had known her to be quiet, demure, and shy. she often never made eye contact or spoke to anyone else unless spoken to first
one thing that has stayed the same since her childhood is how emotional she is. though she puts up a front of strength and bravery, she's quite fragile and known to be a crybaby. however, she'll run and hide before she gives you a chance to see her burst out in tears
