Canon information about Rufus & Shinra family traits gleaned from FFVII Turks novel

Back in February of this year I was able to pick up the one and only copy of Final Fantasy VII Lateral Biography (Gaiden) Turks – The Kids Are Alright at Books Kinokuniya in New York City.  It was awesome because I only paid about $25 for it instead of the glorious international shipping fees we all know and love…but that’s not the point.  The point is that I bought it and did a little bit of light translating of portions that interested me the most (you can find general outlines of each chapter throughout the web).  I’m a serious novice with the Japanese language, so I’ve kept most of what I’ve translated to myself and haven’t shared any of it with the fandom online.  This is because I’ve struggled with quite a bit of it, being a novice and all, and I don’t want to post misinterpreted information.  I had decided to bide my time and wait for what seems to be the only person translating the novel into English to post his interpretations of the text to see if mine were correct.

However…this person has only translated five chapters in the last two years and my interests – as well as other Rufus fans’ interests – began around chapter 13.  Ouch.  So, what to do? 

I’ve ultimately decided to share the information I’ve picked out of the novel instead of waiting to see how accurate I am via someone else’s translation.  People have been talking a lot about Shinra family physical traits lately so I figure I may as well share something interesting with my fellow fans.

Below the cut, you will find information on Evan Townshend’s and Rufus’ physical appearances in comparison to both their parents’, some Rufus characterization things worthy of note, mentions of how President Shinra treated people he was fond of, and other tidbits.  This is all taken from chapters 13-15.  These are NOT translations of the chapters.  Like I said, I’m a novice, and I just don’t have the ability to do it.  Reno’s dialogue, for example, is a nightmare and there are entire lines of his that I cannot understand.
