I am your commander, red velvet cookie, and I am... I have no idea what I am right now. Certainly not a cookie or a cake. No idea where I am now either. Or what even this website is, it just installed itself onto my phone, as well as this thing called... a rotom? I have no idea...

It says I should make something called a... trainer card? With the "pokemon" that follow me around? Whatever that is, it's a work in progress.

Since its almost new years eve for some of you guys, depending on which region you're in, I'd like to go ahead and make another holiday caution post.

Many pokemon species experience stress or panic at the bright flashing colors and loud sounds, so be as mindful as possible of the pokemon in your area and how use of fireworks will impact them. If your pokemon experiences distress at the sight and/or sound of fireworks, I would highly recommend following these steps:

Step 1: Battle, play, or exercise with your pokemon to tire them out. Plan lots of activities for them so they're tired and content by the end of the day.

Step 2: Create a safe place for your pokemon away from windows and where the sounds will be more muffled. Give them plenty of blankets, toys, and maybe some treats.

Step 3: Add some form of masking sound to help cover the fireworks, like white noise or a favorite TV program or movie. This will not stop the vibrations from being felt by particularly sensitive pokemon, but it will at least mask the sound and offer another form of distraction.

While New Years can often be a stressful time for many pokemon species, with the proper care and attention, we can offer them the support they need while still being able to have a fun celebration.

Oh, and on one final note. Do not attempt to use explosive pokemon such as Voltorb or Graveler as a firework stand-in. Exploding is a defense mechanism used by pokemon in response to threats and can be a stressful experience. Even in the case of pokemon like Electrode, which may explode for amusement, they cannot control their blast radius or potential collateral damage they may accidentally cause.
