Product Review - Sally Hansen Miracle Gel
So I haven't really done a real product review before, but hey, there's a first time for everything.
Like many other females I know, I have a SERIOUS nail polish problem. I mean it's ridiculous. If you saw it, you might question why I don't have my own nail shop. I've bought endless base coats, top coats, colors, and embellishments. I even have the gel/acrylic powders. I'm always looking for a way to get my nails to look just right without having to pay for it. I think the best experience I've had so far is with other Sally Hansen products that you might be familiar with, and those are the InstaGel strips and that cute little LED light. But let's be real, it takes a lot of time to file and shape my nails that by the time I'm done cleaning them with the little cleansing pad they give me, then tediously apply the strips, then put on the top coat, and then take another 5 minutes to cure them under the light AND then finally cleaning them with another wipe. I mean, one great thing about them is that they are immediately dry because we all know that somehow even if we waited an hour for our polish to COMPLETELY dry you make one wrong move and the Smudge Fairy has left a catastrophe on your best looking nail!
But I digress... Onto the real topic at hand-- Miracle Gel. A product boasting up to 2 weeks of color and shine. It doesn't need to be cured by any special lights, you let natural light do all the work.
So I realize this product come a sets (Limited color choices) at the store for about $15, it varies from store to store. I purchased mine at the local Walgreens. The sets were $14.99 and individual bottles were on sale for $7.99 (orig $9.99). Unfortunately the sets they had in stock at my local store did not appeal to me (They once had the color I chose in a set, but it was sold out), so I spent the extra $1 and bought the bottles individually.
I chose a pink shade called Shock Wave. I'd definitely describe it as Barbie pink and if you ask anyone it's very *me*. The color is step one, and the top coat in the black bottle is step two.
As many other reviews I read before purchasing stated, the instructions are surprisingly simple. I guess I expected more from a Gel nail system. The instructions were: Apply 2 coats of Miracle Gel Color. Activate curing with Miracle Gel Top Coat. No Base coat needed.
I found that 2 coats wasn't quite good enough. There was a little bit of streaking and I absolutely hate when you can see my nail bed through my polish. I opted for 3 coats, gave it about 5 minutes to dry (While I continued to watch Ratatouille—haven’t seen it in forever, such a kid at heart) and then proceeded to put on the top coat. I really couldn't tell you how long it took to dry, but I’d say it seemed pretty set after about 10-15 minutes. I went to bed immediately after that, slightly fearing the dreaded blanket/sheet marks or unfixable smudges of doom, but I was pleasantly surprised that my manicure had stayed intact through my slumber. My only gripe was that my top coat did seem a bit dull, but I slapped on another layer and its shined bright once again. I always say that I will apply a top coat onto my nails every other day to help my manicure last longer, but we will see how I fare (unlikely).
Now I don't know if I'd call Miracle Gel a *Miracle* but my first impression answer... Worth It. I like the colors, I don’t mind the price and application was simple.
The true test is, can it really last 2 weeks? Today is Friday, so I’ll give you an update on Monday and see if my nails survived the weekend!

Have you ever wondered why Loki’s eyes are so blue in The Avengers? In fact, Tom Hiddleston’s eyes are blue and he had to use effects in Thor because Loki’s eyes are green. In The Avengers his eyes are blue because of his scepter. The same happened with Hawkeye and Selvig. Loki was very vulnerable when Thor smashed him on the floor. He had a few moments of lucity, just like when Natasha slapped Hawkeye. Thor asked Loki to look around and see the damage he caused, asking to help him. It was a conflict, you can see. Then his eyes became green. You can see in the last gif. The change is VERY notable. It was a conflict but the power of the Tesseract was stronger. Loki did many bad things, but he was being possessed most of time. NOT like a robot, as with the others, but as Loki said “It touches everyone differently”. Everything makes sense to you now? One of the reasons why I can’t hate Loki at all. I’m not saying he’s not guilty, he is, but the Tesseract’s power fueled his hatred. He was being, in fact, controlled. Besides, Tom Hiddleston said they digitally made his eyes bluer in The Avengers. Now we have proof of it.
I’m just floored by how freaking small that Easter egg is.
I never realized how badly I wanted to know that.
