She/her pronouns. ACOTAR/Fourth Wing/similar romantasy books. Paramore. Good Mythical Morning. Black Mirrorâs Bandersnatch. Avatar the Last Airbender. CNCO. Wednesday. DND (the Latin boyband, not the game). Project Hail Mary
Okay Iâm trying to read the third Crescent City book, House of Flame and Shadow, butâŠidk, I just donât like this series as much as ACOTAR and Throne of Glass. I donât hate it, but itâs just not snatching the soul out of my body like the other two. Iâm not feeling the âjust canât put it downâ vibe that I felt with the others. Do you think I need to read this before ACOTAR 6 comes out in October?? This book has 101 chapters and Iâm only about to start chapter 24. Only 30% in. Thereâs crossover with the ACOTAR characters but I wonder if she did that just to boost sales đ
Is this book worth sticking with?
I actually started CC3 a while ago but paused to read Veronica Rothâs new book Seek the Traitorâs Son which I had to pause to read Project Hail Mary, and now that Iâm done with PHM, I had to debate which one to go back to. Iâm a slow reader so I chose CC3 since I wanted to finish it before ACOTAR 6 is released, but now idk. Iâm also on the fence about Seek the Traitorâs Son though too hahaha I loved her Divergent books and this is her first book in a while. But idk, I feel like Iâm not super captured by either one. I liked it at first, but I feel like my interest has waned.
I didnât give this a lot of thought and instead went with my gut on these. A lot of the cinnamon rolls can have a biting wit and verbally knock you down a few pegs, but they still wouldnât literally kill anyone.
Luke didnât want to hurt anyone at the banks, but he did hurt Kofi and Avery. Unsure if heâd have actually killed them though. So I kinda put him on the fence.
With this particular picture of Ken I probably should have put him as maximum âlooks like a cinnamon rollâ but I guess I was kinda also keeping his edgier look in mind? Idk. Like I said, I went with my gut on these
Grace did canonically call someone a âstaggering waste of carbonâ so he might not be peak cinnamon roll, but again, heâd never kill anyone
Also I love that Jody was beyond shocked and appalled to hear about Coltâs murder accusation and said this man literally spent 25 minutes ushering out a roach from her room instead of killing it. He will beat someone up no problem, but he is no killer
I second this!! I just read the three chapters that are posted so far and itâs super good!! Very well written and intriguing. More people need to know about this one.
I feel you so bad and that losing the fic post and im really glad you got the link! Was gonna look for it since i remmbered that one. I actually also remember reading a somewhat similar fic where his students kinda dared him to use a pick up line on you and yeah i never found it again so i felt that (im shy so thats why im on anon >//////<)
Ugh thanks, I was so devastated!! I stared at my phone in disbelief for a good minute đ Iâm so glad I got it back!!! Aw Iâm sorry you lost your fic because that one also sounds so cute. Can anyone else please help out with this one if you know what anon is talking about?? I wanna read it now too. I am a sucker for anything with yearning teacher!Grace đđ„č
when grace sends the beetles back to earth you can see him putting rocky's xenonite figurine of him into one of them. AND HE GIVES IT A LITTLE FIST FINGER BUMPđ
YESSSS I got the fic backkkk!!!! I was devastated when it happened but actually looking back now, itâs good that I lost it when I did because it was 1am at that point and I would have kept reading til a really ridiculous hour, and I needed to go to bed. But I just woke up and now I have plenty of time to read!
DAMN IT! I was reading a really adorable Project Hail Mary teacher!Grace x reader fic where you both were teachers/friends and had a huge crush on each other and everyone at the school could tell but you. Even the students could tell. The reader is an English teacher and was teaching The Odyssey to her class in the beginning of the story. At one point Grace gives a presentation in the schoolâs planetarium where he uses you as a demonstration of the earth orbiting the sun and implies that you are the sun to his earth đ„č I just got to the part where it was pouring rain and you give him a ride home so he didnât have to bike home, but then there was a flash flood warning so he suggests you stay over at his place. You were about to make pb&jâs. And then I lost the fic and I canât find it again đ I think I saw it on the teacher!Grace tag but Iâm not following the author. I tried looking on the tag again but couldnât find it. Can anyone help find it for me? Here or Ao3?? Itâs the cutest fluffiest fluff and I wanna see if they get together đ
HAHA I work in an elementary school and this is verbatim what teachers say in our classrooms, even the response from the kids lmaoooo I love teacher Grace so damn much. In the actual movie, him saying, âRocky, my hand is upâ is so teacher coded even though I havenât actually heard that one before, itâs such a teacher thing to do Iâm crying
something there isnât enough of in The Gray Man movie is how Court is a total disaster 100% of the time and is almost always scared shitless in whatever position he has put himself in. more than once in the books he tries to hype himself up before doing some insanely dangerous stunt that may get him killed. 9/10 heâs doing said stunt because his dumbass couldnât walk away from a job/person in danger.
like, as much as i love rygosâs Ryland Grace and Colt Seavers thereâs something about Court that just hits different i guess?? like each story involves facing fears and doing death defying stunts and giving up something for the ones you love and all that but like,,, idk man thereâs a deep seated tragedy baked into Courtâs story that Rylandâs and Coltâs never quite touch in the grand scheme of things.
itâs almost worse if you look at it in some flavor of Coltland Gentry AU. while Ryland and Colt get their happy endings â if not bittersweet in many ways, too â Court just really doesnât? like yeah he has Claire in both the movie and books and yeah he has a lot of good coworkers/friends-ish in the books and yeah he has said he likes the danger and thrill of his job but⊠he also wants a break. some time to relax for once and not worry about everything crashing down and going up in flames around him. just a moment to recoup and heal and chill without anyone coming after him.
put Court in any other career that saves good people and has the thrill of danger and movement and he would be set. heâs built to progress forward even if that momentum is limited to doing the same task every day: get the worst guys, and follow orders.
idk man i just canât stop thinking about how he never really got the chance to be a coward like Ryland and Colt did in their character arcs. Ryland refusing to leave Earth because he doesnât want to die coupled with insane imposter syndrome; Colt pushing everyone away during his recovery because he was scared his friends wouldnât like the âthumbs down version of [him]â.
but not Court. Court wasnât faced with a choice quite like theirs. not a choice that can be fixed in the long term like rejoining family or a choice that you can learn to live with because you never quite made it yourself and yet youâre still here and so many are still kicking because of it. Coltland Gentry AU or not Courtâs one decision was not made out of pure emotion, but rather a childâs desperation and morally questionable logic that cannot ever be repaired as Rylandâs or Coltâs could.
you canât give back the lives you take no matter how hard you try. you canât repent and redeem yourself for taking lives by cutting more of them short, no matter how bad those lives are. it doesnât work like that. it will never work like that.
Mark Greaney probably just wrote a spy book because he liked it but i just canât stop thinking about how the Gray Man is not only someone failed by the system and forgotten but is also someone so morally gray and genuinely haunted by his own actions no matter what spin he tries to put on it, good or bad.
maybe i just have a thing for snarky, cunning, emotional, morally ambiguous characters doomed by the narrative and their own repeated attempts to sacrifice whatever is left of themselves for the sake of their heart or whatever.
anyway donât think about Court giving everything he had and everything he no longer has to save his brothers and keep them safe without ever realizing how little impact his actions have on their lives since leaving them no matter his good intentions as a brother okay byyee!
âidk man i just canât stop thinking about how he never really got the chance to be a coward like Ryland and Colt did in their character arcs.â
Okay that hit hard. The âchoiceâ Court got was a.) stay in prison for the rest of your life for taking someoneâs life âŠwhich he did only to protect his brother and himself, or b.) work for the CIA where heâd constantly be put in dangerous situations. But hey itâs better than prison, right? God. Both choices are bleak. He didnât get the option of choice c.) none of the above đ
Okay so I was just thinking about Ken and Ryland lol đ So imagine reader was sent as a nurse on Hail Mary alongside Ryland who was sent as a scientist, anyways, (theyâre in love ofc) they show Rocky different movies and when they get to Barbie, reader is like âHang on a sec, you look just like Ken!âđ Anyways, Y/n is like âMy Ken is an AstroNOTâđ
OKAY this is a cute and silly little blurb about yearning-turning-into-action, enjoy! Ryland Grace x gn!reader; sfw; mfw I'm in a yearning competition and my opponent is a character played by rygos đ±
âYou kinda look like him, yâknow.â
âHm?â Ryland glances up from the book on his tablet. Heâs not particularly watching the movie, not due to lack of Barbie appreciation, but because it was one of the ones he got through while he was waiting to get his memories back and you were coming out of your coma. Still, heâs loath to be too far from you these days, so heâs reading while the three of you huddle beneath his quilt: you, him, and Rocky in his ball.
Itâs become a nightly ritual. He hasnât yet voiced that itâs his favourite part of the day, the thing he looks forward to from the moment he opens his eyes every morning on this long journey to Erid.
âI said you kinda look like him. Like Ken, right?â
Ryland stares at the screen and furrows his brow.Â
âNo I donât.â
âYes you do! Look there, heâs even hanging off the back of the rocket ship, just like you when you do spacewalks.â
You are teasing him now, but Ryland canât bring himself to mind when he sees that smile on your face. Do you know? Do you know itâs his favourite thing on the Mary, your smile?
You have to, right? You have to be aware of how he feels about you. Because after all this time being so close to you, he canât imagine heâs hiding it very well any more.
Heâs never wanted to hold someone more in his entire life.
Rocky lifts his screen-translator close to the laptop screen and keeps it there for a moment, before letting out a string of joyful notes that youâve both come to know means heâs laughing.
âGrace mate is right! You are very similar to clown man in film.â
âWait, what was that?â Ryland asks, but itâs not to gain clarification, itâs to try and get Rocky to say that first bit again.Â
Does Rocky think the two of you are⊠mates?Â
âSee, even the alien agrees with me! You have the exact same nose shape and little crease between your brows.â You reach over and tap the tip of your finger against it. His skin feels on fire where you land. âBoop! That one.â
His hand raises, chasing the ghost of your touch.Â
âMaybe youâre right,â he mumbles, too smitten by the moment to bother arguing back any more. You grin up at him, and itâs more wonderful than a sky full of stars.
And he thinks.
He thinks about how you make sure coffee is ready for him every morning when he wakes up. The way you constantly find reasons to touch him, usually under the guise of medical check-ups. Your constant offers to help in the lab, even though much of it is beyond your understanding, and how much he loves how the sound of your laughter fills up his ears.
He carefully puts down the tablet and, with his now-free hand, slides his arm around your waist. He feels you freeze for a second⊠and then you lean back into him, snuggling yourself into his chest. Ryland tucks the top of your head beneath his chin, and he can hear you make a pleased little noise at this new closeness.
âTook you long enough,â you whisper, and heâs glad youâre looking at the movie still, because his face must be bright pink.
After a beat, Rocky rolls his ball a panel closer, landing between your legs. He slumps down against its side like a cat would fall into someoneâs lap.
âRocky too,â he states, and Ryland wraps the quilt closer around you all, his book now quite forgotten.

On the "Ryland Grace is wearing glasses incorrectly" topic, I think the movie may have started a trend.
For context, I saw stuff that said the name "Madison" wasnât a girl's name until the forty-something years ago, when the movie "Splash" had it's main character call herself that. Now, it is very recognizable as a first name for girls.
Now today, there is the story of Ryan Gosling doing the dangling glasses thing. It was a choice he made, and by the time someone actually said anything about it, there were already too many shot filmed like that.
So now it is cemented as part of the character design.
And now the movie, story, and character are so popular that the fan base is testing out that glasses method.
I have seen a couple posts here about people trying this out, and realizing it works for them. I can only imagine how many people are testing this out in real life, and just not telling anyone.
Honestly, I tried this with my sunglasses out of curiosity. While sitting down, of course. I'm a little too scared to just walk around with them like that.
Edit: I walked around with my sunglasses like that for a few seconds. Trying to figure out why this works.
I wish this worked for me. But my glasses are the acrylic plastic kind and are much stiffer than Graceâs wired ones. I tried it and almost broke them đ
I will have to go back and rewatch PHM (any excuse to is fine with me) to check, but did they cover up Ryanâs tattoos on his arm? They had to have or we probably would have definitely noticed them with all the short sleeve shirts Grace wears. The monster hand and the Giving Tree would have been very obvious, and Grace doesnât seem like the tattoo type. Iâm almost 100% sure they did because I remember being surprised to find out that Ryan has real tattoos after watching PHM for the first time.
