“because this is my bar and what i say goes.” rose said as if scolding a petulant child. a tall glass of water quickly replaced the two fingers of scotch she’d been nursing. rose absentmindedly rubbed down a glass with a rag, “if you wanna go home and drink more i’ll order you an uber but no more here tonight.”
sighing in defeat, she nodded. "alright, alright. i'll listen to your rules." after taking a few sips of water, she placed the glass down and placed her elbow on the counter to lean against. "so, has anything exciting happened tonight?”
theo had decided to take a walk that night so he could get some exercise and listen to the tiny meat gang podcast. he found those dudes pretty funny, but he didn’t have the attention span to listen to podcasts unless he was doing something else, like walking. he walked along, chuckling at a joke, when a dog rushed at him and started nosing at his jeans. “hey little guy,” he said, bending down to pet the dog. he looked up at his owner. “hey, it’s totally cool. i love dogs.” he rubbed between the dog’s ears one more time before standing up. “i’m theo, by the way. ‘sup?”
after placing a few strands of hair behind her ear, she placed a hand on her chest and sighed in relief. at least he wasn't bothered by rose. otherwise, she'd feel awkward about the whole situation. "well, that's good to know considering rose seems to really enjoy your company." she watched rose happily loving the attention from theo and smiled more at that. "and it's nice to meet you, theo. i'm merrie. out for a walk too, huh?”
A strong hand reached down and grabbed the man by the back of his shirt, lifting him to his feet. “You all right, sir?” Kyle asked, giving him a pat on the back. “Why don’t you go on in here and have a seat, someone will be with you shortly?” Passing the gentleman who had tripped off to one of the nurses, his face was drawn for a moment before he took a deep breath. Clear it out, one at a time, he thought to himself before he stepped into the next exam room. “Good morning, I’m Doctor Morgan,” he said, he said, folding the file and putting it under one arm. “What can I do for you today?”
being on her phone, she scrolled through webtoons as she waited, listening to the clock ticking. she wasn't impatient, but she'd rather do anything else than be here. at least she had service here though because now was the time to catch up on the web comics she hasn't read in a while. as minutes passed, she soon heard the door opening and glanced up before sighing softly. "i'm just here for a usual check-up. that's all."
“I need a drink. I always drink when cooking,” Brian said. He’d had a friend over to ‘test drive’ his latest creation. Spices sizzled on the stove, chicken nestled gently in the middle of them, creating an aroma of the kitchen that was nothing short of mouth watering. “Don’t tell my boss. Oh wait, that’s me,” he grinned, filling up two glasses and passing one to the other person. Fingers closed around a wedge of cheese he’d set out with crackers for them to snack on while the meal cooked. “So what have you been up to?” he asked, popping the delicious gruyere into his mouth and chewing thoughtfully.
"it’s understandable," they responded with a smile. however, their stomach was growling as they continued to smell the food, so they were happy to be doing this. especially since they forgot to eat dinner. "don't worry, your secret's safe with me." taking the drink, they sipped on it slowly before raising their eyebrows. it was a usual day for them, going to work, seeing customers, making sure everything was running smoothly, then going home or talking to people. even though they loved tea time cafe with all their heart, the day continued to feel mundane. "just the same old, same old. go to work, go home, eat, sleep, repeat. --what about you?"
It had taken a few moments for Isabelle to talk herself into going up to the person standing not too far away from her. Her car was parked a little further down the street, yet her hands were full of a box of cupcakes as well as three heavy shopping bags full of baking ingredients. Smiling, she spoke. “I’m so sorry to bother you, but would you mind holding one of these for just a second? I just need to grab my keys and I’m worried if I try while holding these that something will end up ruined. It’ll only be a moment and I’ll be out of your hair before you know it.”
out for a walk, to get fresh air, she had her hands in the pockets of her denim shorts and she was taking in the scenery of the town. she thought the area was quite cute and was glad to have chosen her as her vacation time. she just hoped her family wouldn’t find her here, a reason why she avoided posting her location. when somebody began talking, alexa turned to them before tilting her head. she wasn’t surprised when the other needed help and gave a nod before saying, “it’s not a bother at all. i wasn’t doing anything important anyway.” she then took a box away from her. “hope you don’t mind me asking, but why so many boxes in the first place?”
milo sat in a starbucks, laptop resting on the table. he had multiple tabs open, full of information on politics and more research for his novel. he had only recently finished his planning stage, and he was moving on to the rough draft stage. he wasn’t writing at this exact second, though, because he had gotten himself into explaining the work of kurt vonnegut to the person sitting across from him. “and that’s just cat’s cradle, if you ask me, slaughterhouse five was his best work. he used time travel to represent ptsd from the– are you even listening to me?” he asked, annoyed.
being inside starbucks, it was one of her usual places to get some peace and quiet. it was also a place she was able to work on more songs. she had an earphone in one ear as she was trying to find inspiration. even though being here was supposed to be a vacation, she couldn’t help, but continue to work on her career. however, she was distracted momentarily upon hearing milo’s voice. pursing her lips, she furrowed her eyebrows slightly. “–…yes? sorry, who are you talking about again?”
—TOM’S DINER WAS packed. Not surprising, given the hour. It seemed half the town crammed in there for breakfast. Jack had never learned to cook — at least, not without open fire — so Tom’s had been a regular spot for him. And he had little choice but to climb into the last unoccupied booth. The deputy was half way through his second coffee of the day when he notice someone enter, doing the customary scan of tables and seeing none were free. Jack raised his hand without hesitation. “There’s a seat here, if you want it!” He called. “So long as you don’t cause trouble of course,” He added with a wily grin.
being in the mood for something quick, she figured tom's diner was the best option. however, upon entering inside, she wished she came at an earlier time with how crowded it was. except, she really didn't want to eat microwavable food. luckily, someone was willing to give up space. smiling at jack, she made her way to the table before asking, "thank you so much for this. you have no idea how hungry i am and i’m just craving a burger right now.” once she was relaxed in her seat, she grabbed a menu before glancing through the items. aside from a burger, she was definitely going to get a milkshake.
going for a walk, she brought rose along, her cavalier king charles spaniel. she was enjoying the weather tonight and was taking in the scenery, but was soon interrupted when she felt rose’s leash being tugged. glancing back at the small dog, she realized rose was rushing toward others and merrie couldn’t help, but smile at that. following behind rose, she gave the person a small smile before saying, “sorry about that. rose gets excited when meeting new people.”
“man,” eli spoke as he was fighting with the signage in front of the bakery, “i really wish today was a day that i was doing sailing lessons. i want to go sailing. hey, want some sailing lessons?”
squinting her eyes, she stared at him for a second before shaking her head. "do i actually look like i want sailing lessons? if you want to go sailing, why not just go?"
here’s nora’s bio/stats + her pinterest! & i decided to make a little summary under the cut. i probably should have made summaries for merrie & erin oof.
oh hi there, welcome to holiday, NORA BRADSHAW. oh wait, you’ve been here. has anyone ever told you that you look like CAMILA MENDES? you’re FEMALE and use SHE/HER? just checking. and you’ve been here for YOUR WHOLE LIFE? you’re 25 too, right? just curious. you work as a WEB COMIC ARTIST still? you know people say you’re CONFIDANT & PROTECTIVE, but CALLOUS & RESERVED so i guess take that with a grain of salt. well, at least i do know you’re excited for CHRISTMAS bye now! [s, 22, est, she/her]
she was adopted when she was 2 yrs old
her parents hate holidays, so the kids grew up being forced to hate the holidays too
at first, nora was rebellious bc she was upset that her parents gave her up in the 1st place
but she later grew and realized she didn’t need her biological parents bc she was just happy to belong to a family. so she’s v loyal to the bradshaw family.
she actually enjoys halloween and christmas on the dl, but will take that secret to the grave for now
she’s unsure where her coldness comes from tbh. it’s probably from several reasons though. like just being envious that every other kid was able to enjoy holidays and/or being tired of the cheerfulness the town brings most of the time
oh and aside from working as a web comic artist, she also does freelance work
“annnnd that concludes the tour! does anyone have any questions?” rowan forces a smile to the crowd in front of her. this was her last tour of the day and she was itching to get off, she had some friends she wanted to see. but she knew her dad would kill her if she didn’t do everything correctly.
even though erin was already a resident, they were just passing by when they heard rowan's question and decided to join in for a bit. they rose their hand for a few seconds before asking, "i have one. what's your favorite place in town?"
rose hadn’t bar-tended regularly since college. she spent most of her nights in the back of holiday brewing crouched over a computer screen putting three ivy league degrees to good use. it was nice to get back into the saddle sometimes and give addy the night off. now she raised her eyebrow across the bar conspiratorially, hand fisted around a bottle of scotch. “that’s cute, i’m cutting you off.”
being told she was cut off, merrie sighed and gave a small pout. "why am i being cut off? i only had a drink or two, so i don't see what the harm is." even if she was being cut off, she already had drinks in her own home.
charlie had been running around like a lunatic for most of the day fielding calls and piles upon piles of paperwork. her days were normally a lot calmer than this, so when she bumped into an unfamiliar individual, she cursed angrily under her breath. she truly shouldn’t have been running through the halls, she had just been in such a rush after sitting in on meeting after meeting. the papers she had been carrying were now all over the floor. “shit, i’m so sorry..” she mumbled. “how can i help you?”
when being bumped, merrie was thankful she was able to move her hands in a different direction before being bumped by charlie or she'd be really upset. letting out a sigh in relief, she gave a shrug to the other's question. "nothing really. i wasn't looking for help, just mostly a place to take some pictures," she responded before holding up the camera in her hands. "what about you? did you need help with anything?"
“look, if you want the table, play for it,” the male quirked a mildly challenging brow. needless to say, running the pool table at the local dive for the past two hours may have started to go to his head. after draining the remainder of his beer, he proceeded to lean over and smoothly pocket another ball, just for show. the grin that followed was just a bit more boyish and proud than it was smug. “for the record… i don’t exactly plan on losing any time soon.”
their eyes widened slightly when they noticed what was going on. erin really wasn't looking to take the table, but they were interested in the game. especially since they never played pool before. "well, i don't plan to take it from you, but i'm down for a game. if you're willing to teach me anyway."
