I don’t think i’ve ever been more upset about a celebrity death ever before in my life because I truly, truly adored Mac Miller, not just as an artist but as a human being- he just exuded that indescribable, enigmatic pureness of energy that was so rich in flavour it transcended beyond any mere technological prism and achieved it’s presence as one of a few to feel real to the touch, the true embodiment of a pure soul as so few can lay claim, a soul that felt deeply, and loved vastly- as any true artist is so endowed. I’ve followed him since 2011, since the early days of blue slide park, I spent countless hours watching the tour vlogs he used to upload on his youtube channel, even the infamous weed arrest when his tour bus got pulled over and raided… he was the fucking wallpaper photo on my first ever iPhone for a year ffs, I fucked with him before anyone knew his name, I could tell that he was special… that there was something different about him, his lyrics… his beats…. his soul, and now he’s chance to fully capitalise on that potential has been snatched away, like a shock to the soul right to where it hurts the most… just like that. I’ve been thinking about it over and over and over and I can’t get you out of my head ez mac, any moment of quiet and then instantly I'm hit with the realisation I’ll never get to experience a new piece of music from you ever again, and then a deafening, all-consuming saddens envelops me as the dawn of a missing purity rises upon a now less incandescent reality, a reality that now feels closer to the ever omnipresence of malevolent sickness.
