I always used to wonder what God’s voice sounded like, whenever people say “God speaks to me” I picture it as a deep, scary masculine voice and i’m always on the fence on whether i really want to hear His voice or not. This weekend He spoke to me. I didn’t realize it, but as events unfolded I was amazed. God’s voice is really that little voice in your head telling you the right things to do but we somehow ignore it and do the exact opposite.
He spoke to me on two different occasions. I listened to one and did as he said and on the second i totally ignored. Let me share what happened when i didn’t listen.
Today after church, i decided to drive my friend’s car home. As soon as i sat in the car i heard a voice in my head that said, “Yasmin, don’t drive today because you don’t have your license on you and you’d get into an accident which will involve the police coming over to you to ask for your license.” I honestly just laughed and said to myself “I do this all the time and i’ve never been involved in an accident, i’ll be safe.”
On our way, i found myself speeding for no reason and the voice kept saying “Yasmin, get out of the driver’s seat and let Solange drive” I still didn’t listen. Lo and behold I got into an accident and exactly what i heard in my head earlier happened. It was not a serious accident; everyone is safe. The police man walked up to me and asked for my driver’s license but i didn’t have it. I immediately started praying, but whole prayer was an apology to God for not listening and also asking him to let the whole situation be a calm one. He listened to me. The situation was immediately settled and both parties went their separate ways.
Just as how He abruptly listened to me when I said a prayer that’s the way we need to listen to God and act in haste when he needs us to do something for Him.
