If you asked the people of Ur which of their countrymen would be remembered and often referenced by the world 4000 years later, I bet not one said "That shady merchant, Ea-nāṣir."

i'm high as fuck and just saw this three times in a row while scrolling and i'm ngl it dod kinda scares me on the third go
I actually… love this
i once wrote an entire academic paper with the central thesis of ‘everyone is kind of a dick to Data and it honestly kinda reflect how people treat neurodiverse people, which is also why we neurodiverse people relate to him so hard’
the original post was missing a line, so here’s the full poem!!
His poetry is good. Fight me.
I HAVE BEEN SAYING THIS FOR YEARS
“AN ODE TO SPOT” IS FREAKING GENIUS FIGHT ME
This is what I adore about the TNG writers’ room. Data Writes Poetry is a joke so obvious it writes itself. He’s an emotionless android, and poetry is associated with big emotions and the core of humanity. His poetry should be bad. That’s the joke. This is what the audience is expecting, especially in the early 90s.
But instead, the writers of TNG gave Data some of the most beautiful poetry, exploring what it is to be an outsider without access to the shared reality that neurotypical humans experience. They knew that Data was never going to be the butt of a joke. The only reason Riker is falling asleep is because of the sci fi horseshit A-Plot. Data is treated with such respect and that is what made TNG better than 99% of TV writing from back then.
Translation: “I am fucking tired of the soviet car industry” *the standard effect of touching a soviet car* *laughs in russian*
I can’t get over the sheer poetry of how the car falls apart - the perfect chain reaction escalating as it travels round.
don't know a thing about 3d printing!! but one day i'll make a whale skeleton that's small enough to hang from my ceiling like they have at museums and it's going to be sick as hell
