Anegada Rock Iguana (Cyclura pinguis), family Iguanidae, found only on the islands of Anegada and Guana in the British Virgin Islands in the Caribbean Sea

CRITICALLY ENDANGERED.

There are less than 300 wild individuals, and the population is declining.

Declines are due mainly to competition with domestic and feral livestock, and predation by introduced dogs and cats... as well as habitat destruction.

Recovery efforts are currently underway, including their introduction to the island of Guana (where there are less feral livestock) and captive breeding programs.
