She doesn't think she deserves it because all shes ever done and known is sacrificing herself for others well beings (in every way) and so she probably doesn't even consider the prospect of "divulging" into something she wants (to be a part of the forger family (which she is but doesn't feel deserving of it and the cycle repeats)) 😭😭😭
I have a love hate relationship on the different ways it gets translated for the manga vs the anime, normally I side on the manga but episode 50 of the anime I think was better for once (spoilers:)
In the manga, this scene always just slightly confused me. I didnt really know what nightfall meant by saying "the moment he referred to her as just 'yor'" (granted im dumb but)
But in the anime she specified "by not calling her 'yor briar'" makes it way clearer to me on what she meant, and that brings a whole new perspective i hadn't thought of before.
I never really realized this until now but yes in terms of wise, when mentioning yor, its usually as "yor briar" (minus that one spy who is like "trouble with the misus twilight?") And i dont remember the last time twilight referred to yor as "yor briar"
On top of that, I always figured this was because of his mission, but even amongst wise agents he will either refer to yor as "yor" or "my wife" which is soooo interesting because, all of the spies *know* his mission and who yor briar is, theres no reason amongst his peers that he should refer to his fake family mission the same way he does in public. So that really is fascinating and good thing to point out from nightfall in that, twilight has been beyond compromised for a while the moment he stopped considering/referring to yor as "yor briar"
Hmmm hehehe very interesting stuff hehe I love thos story sm, its so fun yet also written so well and I just am so in love with all the characters and their developments I love it sm om nom nom
Slight spy x family spoilers for season 3 (and whatever chapter area that is)
I wonder if twilight will ever become scared of yor like that ine guy was terrified of his wife? That would be rather interesting
It def seems very possible, with him not wanting to initiate physical contact with her in fear of getting kicked. Plus hes seen her physical brute strength and has been taken aback by it. Though it is really funny how he just kinda, accepts it and moves on and never once questions it 💀 but if he ever learned of her true identity I wonder if he would become scared of her?
Ive been thinking about that a lot as ive been rewatching and rereading the story - how much foreshadowing there is? We've seen some come full circle with loids feelings towards his family and yor. but i wonder what character arcs we've seen so far or events that have happened that might be foreshadowing to loids future and actions 🤔
Can you imagine what the reveal if everyone's identities will be like for twilight? I think bro might die of a panic attack from the news ngl, gotta give it to him in small doses (but ik that its prob just gonna all get dumped in him at once, poor guy. I hope his hot girl tummy troubles gets better)
Omg could you imagine if there was a plot where anya wanted a sibling and was like "mama papa I want a sibling!" And just watches as loid and yor try their best to not die of embarrassment
Eventually anya figures it out and drops the subject but I can imagine it would be a very funny plot line
Ive had more thoughts to add to my analysis if twilights feelings master post
Spoilers for entire managa up to ch135!
So touching back on yor and twilights upbringing and how it relates to their actions and feelings as adults.
Specifically, I mentioned how yor never got to be selfish because she was always working and taking care of Yuri. She sacrificed her own wants and needs for him, and thats why its harder for her to realize her feelings for loid. But its also why she is able to easily accept them because she is intuned to her feelings since she cared for her brother. But she doesn't allow herself to act on her feelings towards loid, so much so to ask Anya to keep it a *secret*. I remember seeing someone say that loids "yes I love her" speech bubble has a shadow because the words have weight, which means he really does mean it.
Well something to take from that is, when yor says she loves loid, that doesn't have a shadow (but does have all the sparkly stuff). But you know what does have a shadow? When she asks Anya to keep it a secret.
She is so used to putting her needs aside, that to her its more important to keep up the facade and assume her feelings would never be reciprocated. Her selflessness is commendable but also self sabatoging in a way.
But how does this relate to twilight? Well, yors upbringing taught her to be selfless. But twilights? Oh no, thats the complete opposite. Twilight is extremely selfish. Even when his parents were alive he lied to his father to buy toys instead. His entire life he has lied to get what he wants. So while he doesn't *recognize* his feelings towards yor, he does act selfishly to his feelings towards her. Let's take a look back at the two times where he had that countdown timer to make a decision
As I stated before, its fucking hilarious how it took him a singular second to, in a sense, "reciprocate" or show romantic feelings towards yor. I think because he is selfish and tying it in with his job, this makes the most logical sense. Because to him as a spy, this is the best action to take. And he is able to come to that decision so quickly because he deep down wants that outcome anyway.
Because even after yor accepts her feelings to loid, she still doesn't allow herself to consciously be close to him (in a selfish way at least. Because at the party she did it yes for tolerance but also for show)
Anyway my point is because twilight is selfish, he fell first and is more than willing to take a step further with yor "for the mission" if it arises. Vs yor took longer to fall, and even with recognizing her feelings she still denies herself the ability to express them.
obsessed with the fact that twilight's main hesitation about the welcome home kiss thing is not that he doesn't want to kiss Yor, but that he's afraid he'll get the shit kicked out of him again if he tries
Not to mention the fact that hes worried about her beating him up is because shes the first person to knock him out COLD since he was in training which was 10 years ago.
So its not even hes afraid of getting hurt hes afraid of being knocked unconscious 💀
Just realized how lame Twilight's excuse is for not killing Yuri in the Wheeler Arc
He told Nightfall he couldn’t kill Yuri because Yuri was the reason Yor entered a “convenience marriage” with Loid Forger.
That’s technically true , but only partly. Yor didn’t marry Loid because of Yuri. Back when they first met, she only needed someone to pretend to be her boyfriend to ease her brother’s worries. Marriage wasn’t even on her mind yet. She just needed a partner for show.
Her real reason for agreeing to the marriage later on was to avoid suspicion. Being a single woman her age drew unwanted attention — and that posed a threat to her secret life as an assassin. So even if, hypothetically, Yuri had died, she likely would’ve stayed married to Loid anyway. Twilight knows this.
So Loid’s excuse to Nightfall wasn’t just flimsy. It was a blatant lie.
We all know the real reason he couldn’t do it.
Yuri is Yor’s family. And Loid couldn’t bear the thought of devastating her, let alone being the one responsible for it.
At that point, I think Loid knew it himself. Yor had become his weakness.
I’ve seen some criticize this arc, saying Loid felt more distant to his family afterward. I don’t entirely agree; for me, he’s always kept his distance to them emotionally. But I do think it’s true that the TwiYor moments became less frequent after that, especially from Twilight's side.
To me, that’s because Loid/Twilight had already realized — long before Yor did in the recent chapters — that he was in deep, deep trouble when it came to his feelings for her. The Wheeler Arc was the turning point.
And seriously, from the very beginning, Yor was already his weakness. We couldn't deny that from the very beginning, he has this sort of fondness when it came to her.
From the moment they met, she threw him off completely. She slipped right past his radar, catching him off guard without him even noticing her presence. (Honestly, that’s kind of how she slipped into his heart, too.)
At Camilla’s party, he defended her without hesitation — and in doing so, he revealed how much he already knew about her (Thankfully, Yor didn’t question it because she was too lovestruck with him). Then at the Eden interview, when Swan started badmouthing her, Loid immediately went on the defensive. He could barely keep himself composed and almost argued back before Yor stopped him. And when Swan insulted her again, comparing her to his “first wife,” Loid completely lost control.
Yor also has this uncanny ability to change his mind even when he’s completely decided on something. In Code White, she convinced him to let her and Anya tag along to find the last ingredient even though he had already decided to go on his own. Or that time Anya pretended to be sick. Loid knew she was faking, but the moment Yor showed concern, he started second-guessing himself. Like, come on! Her words alone were enough to shake his logic!
And I think that’s exactly why he struggles so much when it comes to reading her feelings. Yor matters to him that much. He could easily use his usual tactics; charm her, manipulate her. But he doesn’t. Even when she’s acting suspicious, he doesn’t pry or push. He respects her boundaries completely.
She even makes him zone out during a briefing with his Handler. Twilight — the ultimate spy — getting distracted because of her.
He knows it. Twilight knows Yor is his weakness.
And it’s kind of poetic, honestly — because on the Cruise Arc, Loid was Yor’s strength. She still sees him that way, and that affects how she handles her feelings for him. For her, love makes her stronger so even if it would end up her getting hurt in the end, she would continue fighting for this family and protecting it. Yet for him, love makes him vulnerable so realizing those feelings would make him more distant to those he cares about.
Which just makes the slow burn between them even more intense. It’s going to be insane.
Its also kind of sad in way that twilights family is his weakness. Because for yor its motivation but twilight its a struggle, so he would have more incentive to want to end the fake family when its no longer needed and never see them again. Twilight still prioritizes his mission above all else in his mind, so when he comes to terms that his family has become a weakness to him he probably would want to try and remove that weakness, even if it hurts him. Because hes a spy, hes not supposed to get attached or have feelings, hes not meant to live a normal, happy life. And now that hes got a taste of the other side, he understands why. It makes him weak, dulls his senses, makes him soft.
I like to think that when all gets revealed, Yor will be the one to show him how to turn that weakness into a strength, which will be very fun to see.
Ohhhhh golly but the angst on the way there is gonna be so yummy indeed!! 😋
Yor confessing during a quiet moment of introspection at home, prompted and witnessed by Anya, the only person on earth who knows every single one of her secrets already and loves her all the more for them
Vs
Twilight confessing during an ulcer-inducing interrogation in an unfamiliar place, surrounded by strangers who would immediately become his enemies should even one of his thousands of secrets come to light
Idk man I guess opposites surely do attract because Yor just needed peace and safety to admit her feelings, meanwhile Twilight needed to be all but waterboarded
So apparently I cant get enough of this story so I decided to watch the anime (I think i watched the first half of the season when it came out?? I dont really remember cause I think I watched like 5 episodes then switched to the Manga cause I wanted more of the story immediately lol and I kinda never went back to watching the anime)
But im on like s1 episode e16 and I have learned throughout this that the translations are a little different, which disappoints me slightly but I get it.
But something in the anime that wasn't as noticeable in the manga is this scene:
Because in the anime Franky says: "when youre really in love, finding out everything you can about the other person [is what makes you a man]"
Interesting... because
Obviously we know that twilight has feelings for yor, but this is foreshadowing that I didnt realize. Its not as clear with the manga translation, but taking what he said here, it gives ch110 a whole other meaning now
Because here, originally twilight is saying he needs to learn about who yor is as a person to better understand her and "work" with her in a sense.
Now with what we've seen so far, youd think that this would lead to learning her hobbies, habits and schedule, eventually leading to learning her true identity.
But instead, we get this:
Ah yes, Yor loves omurice. This is very important intell that you can use as black mail against her twilight, way to go.
But after hearing/reading what Franky said, this adds a whole other meaning and is another piece of evidence to the ever growing list of times where twilight shows that hes in love with yor
I love this, this is very very cool foreshadowing thats essentially 100 chapters before it happening, very cool. I love this author they are so good at writing ^.^
What if... What if Nocturna is the first one to find something fishy about Yor that leads to finding her real activities? And so she has to decide what to do about it to protect the mission and Twilight, at the same time that she gets to deal with worrying about Twilight spy's abilities as he 1) either didn't clock it (that would be what's going on) 2) or knows about it and is hiding it from WISE
Oooo now that would be very interesting.
I think it would def depend how she found out. If she were to stumble upon Yor as Thorn Princess, then I think she would confront her and they'd fight. Now the thought is would Yor kill nightfall or not (im fairly certain nightfall prob wouldnt hesitate to kill yor). I dont think yor would, I dont remember if she came to the conclusion that twilight and nightfall *arent* lovers, but she was under that assumption for a little bit. I dont think yor would kill nightfall which might lead to nightfall not telling twilight. She would probably investigate twilight to see if he knew and was hiding it which would turn up clean on his part. I think nightfalls love for twilight overpowers her jealousy of Yor. I think she would keep Yors secret for the sake if operation strix and not wanting to fuck up twilight mission and getting in his bad graces. Though I expect she'd keep a very close eye on Yor and they would develop a similar relationship to how "Loid" and Yuris is.
If she discovers it through backdoor means in a way that Yor doesn't know she's been found out, then I think nightfall would go directly to twilight - which then brings an interesting thought: would twilight *believe* nightfall? He is at least aware of her pushing to be the wife role instead of Yor, so he might think that this is her bias and she's lying to get her way. On the other hand hes not aware of nightfall feelings towards him so he has no reason to think nightfall is lying for her own gain. I think in this scenario twilight would do his own investigation and things would probably get dicey from there.
Its interesting to think how nightfall would react to twilight losing his touch essentially in not being able to figure out Yors secret identity. I think if the first option were to happen, nightfall might passive aggressively drop hints to twilight that hes losing his edge and that hes missing something. Letting him find out for himself instead of nightfall risking her relationship with twilight depending on how he takes it.
I think in both scenarios nightfall would blame yor for decieving twilgiht and possibly "manipulating" him so that he would start losing his edge, furthing nightfalls reason to either keep an eye on yor or report her findings to twilight or the handler directly.

Ah here we are, the last part in this analysis saga of mine. I really wish tumblr would allow more pictures per post, but alas
This ones fun, the rest of these are all the more recent chapters so I’m sure they’ve already been beaten to death, but I might as well throw my hat in the ring too.
Here we have Loid stepping in front of Yor to protect her once again.
I really like how protective he is of Yor, I mean sure its cheesy and a classic trope of the guy protecting the girl, but I think this scene speaks volumes.
Because again, at the very beginning of the manga, he almost left anya for dead essentially. So for him to not only protect Yor, but essentially “sacrifice” himself for her is quite a change from the man we met in chapter 1.
And here we have it folks, are little Twilight has finally had a synapse spark to life in his brain as he realizes he might be compromised. It only took him *checks watch* 130 some chapters? And even then, its not like hes accepting his emotions, but at least he finally realized they were there
Haaa, its okay bud, Im sure youll get the happy ending you deserve (/gen)
Ah yes, our beloved. This scene is actually what threw me back into spy x family full swinging. Ive been keeping up to date roughly, checking in every month or two and reading the most recent chapters. So here i am, casually reading the newest chapter, and then this bomb dropped. Like a sleeper agent i got awoken and went straight to action and here i am writing part four of a massive analyst post that like 3 people are maybe gonna read 💀 (which is okay! I just need to get my thoughts out there or ill go insane)
Anyway, this scene above all has been beaten to death, so ill let the horse be at rest on this one.
But i love this panel so very much, ive stared at it for so long.
To end this off with a cherry on top, we got another Anya one! I really like how this got thrown in “what would become of Anya”. I don’t think ever once have we seen him so blatantly worry about her, but this alone is clear as day. Our bro is panicking to death and while his whole life hes been in survival, self preservation, mission above himself mode, his worry and care for his daughter snuck in there anyway. Another blink and you’ll miss it moment that really shows Twilights true feelings. Bro really does love his wife and daughter, this aint some act anymore.
I do really hope that they get to be a happy family at the end and retire, that would be nice and all of them deserve that <3
Also, I’m fairly certain, like if i was a betting man id bet money, that Yor is going to be immune to the sleep dart thing. 100% hands down, this shit gonna backfire so damn hard, good luck Twilight o7

I was really hoping I was only gonna need 3 parts but I think I’ll need one more because i wanted to group things together so they are concise.
This series of ss is interesting. We have Yuri, who is essentially nothing but a threat to Twilight in every way, and neither are fond of eachother. And yet Twilight hesitated at killing Yuri when fighting him.
I really wonder if Twilight wouldve finished Yuri off if he didnt whisper those words “Yor, forgive me”.
But hearing those words struck something in Twilight that made him just leave Yuri there instead of finishing him off (which would have only benefitted him).
I think what I like most is how we see him walk away and we don’t know what he’s thinking at all. Its silent as we see him make his choice and leave Yuri alive, which is against everything in his nature as a spy. There isnt a single reason why it would have been good for him to keep Yuri alive (especially after being shocked at how long Yuri was able to stay up), yet he left him alive anyway, presumable for/because of Yor.
In the same vein of the other three, but with Nightfall again calling Twilight out essentially.
This scene is interesting, and I like how Nightfall points it out that Twilights response as to why he left Yuri alive was essentially the corporate answer. He didn’t give his true reason, only the reason that is “correct.” Its funny now how, even in his secret double life, he is keeping secrets. But not only that, the master liar is even lying to himself now.
Because here is a rebuttal: there were two reasons why Yor married Loid.
To easy her brothers mind
So that she wont get arrested by the SSS
This second reason is in all honesty a bigger reason for her to stay with Loid vs the first. So Twilights argument is pretty weak at best. Because Yor doesn’t know that Yuri works in the SSS. And that wouldnt change if he died. And if he died, then she probably actually would be in danger of the SSS for real, so she technically would have more of a reason to stay with Loid. But note that Twilight doesn’t make that point either. And Nightfall is able to clock that, but she’s right that hes technically not wrong so she cant call him out. But then again, it was only really a half truth.
Anyway, its interesting cause i think this is the first time we see him lie to his allies.
I like this one a lot, I’ve seen many other people mention this one. But this follows the scene with Loid sharing about his mother. Once he was in Yors presence and she was happy to see him and welcomed him home, all the fight just left his body at once. He was in a place that he truly felt safe enough for his body to just give out on him.
This is another interesting one in that it asks the question “what would have happend” / “what would he have said”
Because here we see again of Loid showing his appreciation for Yor, but we get to see his inner dialog for once as it happens. This whole scene is pretty self explanatory, but ig the question is what was he going to say/think before getting cut off?
“Which is why… Yor is perfect for the mother role” perhaps? That seems like a Twilight thing to say.
But, we’ve seen him have inner dialog already that didn’t match the Twilight we met in chapter one, so maybe thats not what he wouldve said, but who knows.
This is another quick one, not quite blink and you’ll miss it, but you might miss the undertone.
Specifically I’m talking about Loid grabbing the mans arm and stopping him from reaching for Yor. He does this as he continues talking and even turns to reassure Yor. Granted I don’t think he would have let the man touch her regardless, but even so I think the almost mindless gesture in and of itself speaks above the crowd.
And just another cute short one to end this post off. This one focusing on Anya, and we get to see another one of Loids puff’s of endearment. Just another coin in the piggy bank of little things that stack up.

Part 2 here we go
Starting off strong with our beloved nightfall
This is one of the first times Twilight has actually been “challenged” about his feelings towards his “fake family” - yes Frankie has often told him to not get attached, but Nightfall is actually saying “are you sure you haven’t been compromised? Walking your dog and playing house sure doesn’t look like it” kinda thing.
Yes, granted she has a bias with her own feelings towards Twilight and her wanting to be the wife instead of Yor.
But I truly love this dialog, its very reminiscent of chapter 3 or whatever when we saw Loid almost punch that guy in the face for making fun of Yor and Anya.
But Nightfall challenges Twilight on whether Yor is fit for the role and that he should reconsider - which sparks tension between them as Twilight clearly does not like being questioned.
I think to him, this is a contest in his own abilities, which with his developing feelings, he himself has been feeling that hes “off his game”. However, to be challenged by someone bellow his rank he probably takes great offense to.
I don’t know if this is the first time we see Twilight feeling endearment, but either way. That little huff always shows up when he feels endearment to either Yor’s or Anyas reactions.
Endearment is heavily rooted in your care and is related to positive emotions you feel towards another person and their actions. Being endeared by Yor in this moment and making sure to reassure her is an extremely emotional response, and I think Twilight is being truthful here. He believes he is being truthful, but probably not for the reason it actually is, which is his own care rather than a factual reason.
As we can see with the next image, Nightfall notices and points this out.
A well trained spy who, amongst Yor and Anya, knows him the most and longest, can tell that Twilight is experience *real* emotion towards his family.
This is the first time where its so blatantly shown that Twlight has been compromised and he has developed feelings (whether he knows it or not)
This is just another fun one. Once again, in quite literaly point blank 1 seconds he comes to a conclusion that in all honesty maybe he favors more than Yor.
Here he is misunderstanding Yor’s intentions because she is drunk - its quite funny actually, that she is trying to say the she is fine with “Loid” and Nightfall being a couple and she doesn’t want to get in the way of them. While Twilight, without understanding the situation fully, is like “aha! She has romantic feelings for me. No problem, I’ll just say I do too (which is definitely a lie and not actually real emotions he has)”
But for Twilight to then be proven so completely wrong to the point where Yor catches him offguard and knocks him unconscious.
No one had ever completely caught and knocked out Twilight in many years, so the fact that he was off his game enough to let that happen is telling.
I love this whole scene in how he got carried away and is confused as to how he was wrong in his assumption. This tells a lot in that his emotions might have been driving part of the train on this one.
This one feels very important to me. One of the very first things Twilight ever tells us in the manga is that he “threw away his identity and past life when he became Twilight”. And we’ve never seen him tell anyone of his past before he became Twilight either up until this point. We saw his flashback but he had never told anyone that, it was just a dream he had.
But here, when he was coming to he felt safe enough in Yors “embrace” (ig) that it brought him memories of his mom comforting him. And then for him to share that with Yor is so extremely vulnerable (which in a career such as his, is damn near a death sentence) - and yet he feels comfortable enough with Yor to share something he probably has never shared with anyone in his life. This is a HUGE stepping stone for Twilight in terms of his feelings towards Yor and his family in general. He has indeed grown soft - but as we see later with Yor, that might just make him stronger.
This is just another endearing one, we get to see the little puff sigh from Twilight again. Showing that hes growing more and more fond of his family, specifically Yor in this instance. He really does appreciate her taking the time to hang out with them after working so hard. This is just another one of those small things that will stack up over time.
This one is a real small, blink and youll miss it one. I like this one a lot tho and we start to see a lot more of these.
By this point, Twilight wanting to protect Yor and his family have become “part of his mission” for him. (remember how he almost left Anya for *dead* essentially in chapter 1 / 2). Because the phrasing is important here: “I’ll be watching - ready to protect Yor.” He doesn’t add anything to that sentence. He doesn’t say “ill protect Yor so that we don’t lose the mother role in my mission.” or something along those lines. Just purely “to protect Yor.” With no ulterior motive.
Why?
If this is a fake family, you’re only keeping up for appearances sake, why are you protecting her.
Not in the way of just general speaking, but in this moment, what is Twilights *reason* for saying he wants to protect Yor.
He doesn’t specify its for his mission (nor does he say whether its cause he’s worried about her tbf). But either way, I feel like the Twilight we met back in chapter one would not have said this the way he did. He wouldv’e thought of himself first, not someone else.
