I am first an artist, then a photographer, but I also like to tell stories. I read the Enclylopedia, Greek Mythology, Roman and Persian Empire & Alice in Wonderland. This books introduced me to a whole lot of imagination and fantasy. It was DC, Marvel & War Universe next. I made many sketches of my favorite heroes; The Amazing Spider Man, Firestorm, Flash, Justice League of America, Captain America, Ulysis Solomon Archer, out of pencil & paper. I took a walk home from school to pick up a copy of 'Peter Parker; The Spectacular Spiderman', & stumbled on the gaphics novel of 'Star Wars; The Empire Strikes Back' and I was struck & hooked. I became intrigued and saw 'Return of the Jedi' which woke me up to a new world of imagination. I often fantasised about planets, I questioned the theory of a uni-verse & hoped it might be a multi-verse. I stayed with science fiction noels such as Star Fall, Star Trek, then I wanted to be come a RAF pilot, and work with NASA as an astronaut, this went on for such a long time. I went to study Engineering & worked as a Digital Artist. The advent of the internet and cinema culminated in a reasearch into story telling techniques. Then Michael Bay's Transformers & Zack Snyder's 300 sent all my early years of Star Wars fooding back. It did take a significant amount of time to realise film; broadcast media as the most intimate route to tell such a story I wanted to tell. A story that will evoke response from an audience; to teach faith, love, hope & character to a world spiraling out of control. So, I started making shorts: stuff it [2006] Soccer Fan [2006] A Terrible Mistake [2008] and film MUTI [2011]. I decided to carry folks like me along, and founded indieactivty (https://www.inideactivity.com), and working on Moxie, an VOD platform for indie filmmakers. Currently, I am writing Maya my first feature to open in US theatres 2020
Repost from @cnn Camden New Jersey, dissolved its police department in 2012 and replaces it with an entirely new one after corruption rendered the existing agency unfixable. Before its police reform, Camden was routinely Ned one of the most violent cities in the US. Now, the city's crime has dropped by close to half. Officers host outdoor parties for residents and knock on doors to introduce themselves. Tap the link in @cnn bio to learn how they did it. I discovered this video by sheer happenstance. I thought I shouldn't keep it to myself, but share it. Repost @bshiz The barber in this clip is Ernie Chambers, who's currently the longest-serving state senator in Nebraska history. This was filmed over 50 years ago and it still rings true as ever. Has anything really changed? #BlackLivesMatter WHAT CAN YOU DO? There's so much information out there, but I think the article at the link in @bshiz bio actually does a good job of trying to list specific actions you can take. #GeorgeFloyd #BreonaTaylor #AhmaudArbery #TonyMcDade #EnoughisEnough #ATimeForBurning #ErnieChambers https://www.instagram.com/p/CBQ6zMJAb-6/?igshid=1aso05q92v6a9
Repost from @cnn When Antonio Gwynn Jr. saw the damage from protests in his hometown of Buffalo, New York, he grabbed a broom, bought some trash bags and started cleaning the streets by himself. He started at 2am and did not stop cleaning for 10 hours. Matt Block saw Gwynn's story on the news and gave him a Mustang convertible. Medaille College, where Gwynn planned to attend after graduating high school, offered him a full scholarship. Gwynn is thankful for the community response, saying, "I appreciate everything everyone is doing for me." Repost from @cnn A black officer and a white officer took a knee alongside protesters in Ocean City, New Jersey, on Tuesday. "I get it because I'm not recognized when I'm in uniform," said officer Tyrone Rolls. The Ocean City Police Department thanked those who participated in the demonstration against police brutality: You have our respect and support. Your voices were heard. We join you in demanding an end to police brutality. " #cnn #blacklivesmatter #blm✊🏾 #BLM #blackouttuesday https://www.instagram.com/p/CBODsFEADSr/?igshid=lodzzphjkgqe
Posted @withregram • @cnn Many of the top Democrats in Congress took a knee Monday and observed a moment of silence for 8 minutes and 46 seconds — the amount of time a former police officer held his knee on George Floyd’s neck — to honor Floyd and other black Americans who have been killed or suffered from police brutality. The moment happened at Emancipation Hall at the US Capitol. “We are here to observe that pain, we are here to respect the actions of the American people to speak out against that, specifically manifested in police brutality. We are here to honor George Floyd,” House Speaker. #BLM march Bristol, United Kingdom "Colston's company transported more than 100,000 slaves from West Africa to the Caribbean and the Americas between 1672 and 1689, cramming them into ships to maximize profit. The slaves, including women and children, were branded on their chests with the company's initials, RAC. Unhygienic conditions, dehydration, dysentery and scurvy killed more than 20,000 during the crossing and their bodies were thrown overboard" - Haroon Sadiqque for The Guardian.
