The Reason is You || Alico

If someone were to have told Nico he’d be enjoying spending his summer at camp, spending his days with just one girl, the reaction from the demi-god would have been less than pleasant. More likely than not a laugh, followed by an insult or indecent gesture. Yet, Nico couldn’t have picked a better way to spend his summer. Yes, he had been opposed to it at first. He had had the summer before starting university planned out ever since he could remember. Spending half of it with his uncle Phil and Pegasus, while the remaining of it at some beach with a different girl by his side every night. It was almost remarkable how much Nico had changed in a year. Some would say he was weaker, even whipped, but somehow Nico didn’t see it like that, at least not anymore. For once in his life, he was happy. Happier than he had ever been, even more so than the happiness he felt as other cheered him on or as he successfully finished his training with his uncle Phil. Alani made him happy, that was an undeniable fact. It was Alani who made Nico understand what his parents meant when they talked about love. With everything that had happened with Alani, he realized he wasn’t afraid anymore. He had her heart and she had his, just the way it needed to be. Maybe he hadn’t said it yet but he knew those words were just itching to get out, especially since she had. That was one of the many reasons he loved her, because of how understanding she could be. She had told him she loved him and he had said nothing back, and that was okay, just like Nico needed it to be. Spending his days with Alani turned out to be the perfect way to prepare for University. As the summer came to an end, he knew he had to do something to make it memorable. He had spent the last week trying to figure out how until it occurred to him. Sneaking out of Alani’s cabin before she woke up, he had spent most of the day preparing for the surprise, making sure it was perfect until the sun died down and it was ready to go. Walking back to her cabin with a smile on his face, he took the key from the flowerpot and unlocked the door. “Lans?” his voice echoed inside the cabin as he searched for the girl.

Snuggling into her side of the bed, Lani took off her glasses and placed them on the nightstand. As she got comfortable and rested her head on her pillow, she came to realize she hadn't seen Nico all day. Even when she woke up that morning she was alone. She had just figured he was out training early. Now, it occurred to the girl that he was MIA for the entire day and she wondered what he was up to, if he was up to anything at all. Her thoughts ran wild about things he could be doing, the worst of them creeping up through them, planting a seed in her brain that he was with someone else. Luckily she had enough good thoughts to reassure herself that imaging Nico with another girl was ridiculous. As she drifted off to sleep, the last thing she remembered thinking was hopefully tomorrow would be the day he said it. The day he'd finally say he loved her too. It was the last thing she always thought before going to sleep, and so far her hopes had been just that, but that didn't stop her from thinking about it every single night. The brunette was just beginning to dream when a voice woke her up. At first she thought it was something Keith said in her dream, but then her brain finally processed the fact that the call was from Nico in her room. Slowly, she woke up a little dazed. "Hmm?" She replied, yawning and rubbing her eyes.

The Reason is You || Alico

There was always something about sunsets that Alani admired. Whether it was in Alohi, where the sun set on the water, or in Arendelle, where it set behind snowy mountains, or right there at Aurora's camp, where it set through what seemed like an endless amount of pine trees. The special thing that Lani loved most about this specific sunset was that even though the trees hid the sun once the sun got low enough, the light still passed through the trees, forming a certain glow with it. That was the picture the artist was trying to create, and luckily she finished just in time before the glow was gone altogether. She picked up her canvas and the rest of her art supplies and headed back to her empty cabin. Well, for the most part it was empty. She wondered if her cabin mate just hadn't shown up for camp, or if she didn't get one at all. Regardless, Nico had spent enough time there to be her own roommate, and Alani didn't want it any other way. However, over the time they've spent together the island native had come to realize she's head over heels in love with the demi-god, and once she knew it she told him immediately. When he didn't say it back, it didn't discourage her--she knew it would most likely take him longer to accept or realize his feelings--but there was always that devilish thought in the back of her mind that nagged at her about him never loving her at all. The girl always brushed it off, she knew in her heart one day he'd be ready, and until then she'd tell him every time that she could that she loved him. Back in her cabin, Lani got ready for bed, brushing her teeth and changing into one of Nico's t-shirts that was at least two sizes too big. She placed the key to her door in the flowerpot that hung outside, a place that only Nico knew about so that he could come in whenever he pleased without Lani having to get out of bed.
