I'm currently doing research on the news around "Welcome to Dongmakgol" and let me tell you, there was such a hype train for it.

I've been losing my mind for the last hour and panicking that there was a producer at SM who was uncredited for J'n'J's album. I was trying to find who the heck Kang Woo-Ji was on Naver and KOMCA, I even went through their CD's credits and H.O.T's cuz maybe there was overlap. Turns out I'm an idiot. Kang Woo-Ji is the Korean name of Jay Kang and I forgot about that. SMH

Today, I got to thinking about what the oldest piece of physical K-Pop merch in my collection is. These are my top 3. I really need to get into early 1st gen collecting.

I haven't worked on the book in a while, so I went back to see how much of a mess the doc was. It's not bad, but I have a long way to go. My goal for this year is to finish this beast and make it available for anyone who wants to read it.

This is probably my favorite drama that H.O.T did because Tony is a brat and Kangta acts like he doesn’t know how to play the piano.

Apparently some people are under the impression that SM is going to be celebrating H.O.T's 25th anniversary by having junior artists cover their songs. First of all, I highly doubt it considering as they've done absolutely nothing to preserve H.O.T's history/legacy. Secondly, if it's true, then no thanks.

H.O.T. were never just a pop group whose music could fit anyone without context attached to it. If they think doing covers or remixes is the best way to celebrate, then they'll have not only missed the point of the group they created, but also further worked to reduce the legacy of the group. They've never seriously acknowledged how the group changed the course of history and why, so I doubt they'd start now.

I have no interest in seeing how H.O.T will be misrepresented this time. Hard pass.

Apparently back in 1999, a book was published about H.O.T. It’s in Korean, and it’s taking me a long time to translate it because it’s a long book. From what I’ve read so far, there’s a lot of details I have never heard before. I’m linking it here for anyone who is interested. I’ll make posts about important info I find from it when I finish each section of the book.
