I'm not sure my body has ever felt more free than out here in this wild, colorful terrain. I've been thinking a lot about the way I was raised to fear things, (decisions, adventure, risks, the pursuit of anything outside the norm) under the guise of protection. I've been thinking about the way I've tolerated it rather than challenged it, thinking that it was my job to maintain the peace. It feels good to be hundreds of miles away from any remnants of that ideology, in a space where my mind and heart can feel clarity and joy, where I can detach myself from what should have never held me back to begin with.

Looking forward to the day where my love and I can reclaim this sunset and this place.

2017 came to such a good close. On the last day of the year my sister and I hiked up to Bernal Heights and took in the views. We laughed and giggled about funny moments this year (she does the funniest impressions of her big sis), talked about what we've learned, sat and read some lovely new books we bought, and set our intentions for the coming year.
