youngest of three

she grew up in an extremely strict household that kept tabs on who she spoke to for optimal reputation. if you knew a beauregard and were in good standing, then the family deemed you worthy to talk to.

because academia was everything, olive was forced to go to the same university as her mom, dad, and two siblings for good alumni standings. there was no wiggle room to be her own person, already designed to a tee before she so much as held her first pencil.

fairford feels more like home than anywhere else, though the beauregards have a house in the hamptons and another in the alps. her and her siblings tend to travel frequently together, though it always ends terrible. her family treats fairford like a summer house, but olive chose to permanently live here and finish her degree as a remote student instead of going back to campus.

in a pretty dream world, olive wanted to be a boudoir photographer but had to settle for mechanical engineering bc stem.

now olive floats around trying to get into all sorts of trouble around town, refuses to work a real job until she wholly has to, and otherwise honors the beauregard last name as an absolute menace

"It's Yass-ified Albert Einstein." Although Thadd hadn't asked yet, Olive figured she'd give away her costume decision well before he could guess. Guessing games? Dumb. Being direct? Good. "I think he would've really loved Manic Panic if he lived in 2023. Your present is coming in the mail, but I brought a card with a month's rent check as a 'sorry I don't have a tangible gift on hand'. Happy birthday."

"Dude," Thadd reaches forward to accept the stuffed plushie with two hands, "I'll literally guard him with my fucking life."

The oath is all but squashed mere seconds later, when Thadd attempts to place the stuffed penguin atop of his shoulder, only for it to immediately pitch itself forward from its own weight and hit the carpeted ground with a pathetic thump.

"Fuck," he bent to retrieve him. "Well, I tried. Sorry, little man." Giving himself knuckles (wings?) to solidify the apology, he looks up with a grin towards Olive. "I'll name him Ollie in honor of you. Or--shit, what's the penguin's name from Toy Story? The squeaky one?"

"Okay, well don't go that hard. There's like forty others on the stand, it's not like he's limited edition or anything."

She watches the tragedy in real-time, from his shoulder to the ground, and does her damnedest not to laugh. Her lips purse, sound suppressed for the time being. Being around Thadd has always been easy, easier than most of the dumbasses her family associates with. She can already feel the pressure from school lifting from her shoulders -- coincidentally, just like the unbalanced penguin plush.

Olive scowls, tossing the backpack over her shoulder. "I don't partake in toy torture films, Thadd. I have no clue what that penguin's called."

Happily taking the bird plush from his hands, Olive considers the little angry face with interest. "How much do you think this would go for on eBay, by the way?"

Fiona jumps back in surprise, blinking at the firework on the ground (way too close to the grass for comfort) and its wildly sizzling tail, which feels as ominous right now as if they'd accidentally detonated a bomb. The firework isn't small, either — if she'd gotten it from Matty's stupid car, that tracks.

Fiona grabs Olive's arm and tugs her backward not a second before the thing shoots off into the air with a familiar whistling sound that draws the attention of everybody in their immediate vicinity. It explodes high above them in a shower of multi-colored sparks and in the distance she can hear a couple of kids yelling with delight and clapping. Back on the ground, however, the patch of grass in which the firework's remains are lying had indeed caught fire, and all Fiona can think to do is stand there helplessly and whisper, "Oh my god," to Olive. "Olive, do something!"

This? Not her best outing. Olive can feel the lectures coming from a mile away -- the deals her parents are going to have to make with the fire department, the mayor, maybe even Jesus if they want to really absolve her from stupidity. Her hand stays locked on Fiona's arm, blinking twice when the tiny blades of grass catch fire.

"I have an idea," she promises, turning to her friend before cupping her hand over her mouth. "Fire!" The shout comes out in a loud yelp, hoping someone who can adult better than her can notice and do something for her. The hand on Fiona's arm tugs her back in an attempt to get her to sprint away from the crime scene. "We did what we could! I didn't go to school for fire prevention. C'mon, we gotta jet!"

"Thanks for, like, coming with me or whatever." Even though high school feels six-hundred years ago, Olive still likes Thadd's company. It's hard not to like the guy when she feels like it's them against the world sometimes -- like he gets how shitty it is to be landlocked allied with the Beaureguards and Carters. Plus, she digs aquariums. Maybe one day she'll be brave enough to jump in the tanks for funsies.

how he’d landed in the arcade, milo will never know. what he does, however, is that he doesn’t regret it in the slightest. not when he found olive hidden away in there, and certainly not when she offered ample competition. 

until she kicked his ass, that is.

“what angry bird plush?” milo asks innocently, hiding the stuffed toy behind him. “need to get your head checked, i reckon. seein’ angry birds everywhere.”

"Dude. Dude." The first syllable is surprise. The second? Deadly resignation. Olive sticks her hand out, brows high and expectant. "You're like a toothpick, man, I can see the bird behind your back. Give it up. Those were the rules."

Did she even like Angry Birds? No, absolutely not. She wasn't a scrub. It was Candy Crush or nothing.

"That was the last red bird, too."

Ice-cream was definitely Grey's favorite, especially because he wasn't really fan of anything else. Except, of course, chocolate, which he was huge fan of.

"Well, I always go for chocolate flavors. This one here is kinder bueno and chocolate with strawberry syrup on. I got it just here, they are the best." He replied, maybe a bit too much enthusiastically. It was actually a way for him to avoid an alcohol, considering the fact he didn't want to miss anything going on on festival.

"Oh, and if you are not into ice-cream, I could make you a cocktail. We're just trying a new flavors."

"I'm very into ice cream, but I will not say no to cocktails. You can never go wrong with chocolate, though -- ice cream, candy, syrups."

He seems to be into it, but Olive decides to play along with a gentle laugh. Nothing about her is really that gentle, but he seems like a good person. For once, she'll play ball. "Now I'm more into the mint-chocolate type of chocolate. The little squares?" She kisses her fingers. "Divine. They got any of that here?"
