Tell me about fireflies, please. Fireflies are a special type of insect that used to be almost everywhere, but now can only be found in one forest on Jeju Island. There's a complex chemical reaction in their abdomen that is not found in other insects. Because of this chemical process, they can produce light by themselves without ever being plugged in. Little forest robots. They only live for two months. But what a beautiful two months.
MAYBE HAPPY ENDING - Little forest robots 💜 🥰 Also, Can we hear it for the DESIGN 😍 | March 29, 2025 | 🎥 MHE

DARREN CRISS - Maybe Happy Ending | August 31, 2025 | 🎥 me
“also lowkey scamming fans to rush to buy tickets before 8/31” not even lowkey, this is probably the main reason 😔 it’s shitty, but it’s not an unusual marketing tactic, especially after they just won best musical and he won best lead actor. announce that he’s leaving, win some major awards, create demand, jack up ticket prices, sell out every (or most) performances…then announce it’s actually temporary once the month is almost up 😭
Darren seems exhausted. Now he gets a break, and most likely a raise, so this is a win for him, but they really soured the reputation of this show for no reason. ABF better put on the performance of a lifetime.
yes!! last I checked there was a row M seat for SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS for august 29th. right now the highest price for a november 5th seat is $399. they’re making people spend $200 extra for false advertising. and not just any people, specifically fans of darren and the show. girl this is how you’re treating your biggest fans?? on top of the racism which is already absurd and unforgivable??
I’m not surprised that darren’s coming back by WHY didn’t they just let an understudy be the lead for 9 weeks
They say nothing’s better than doing nothing together, so let’s just stay in bed♪
I don’t know much about theatre so this is possibly a dumb question about replacements:
Did Andrew have to audition for the role, or was he offered it because they were familiar with his work? Or a combination of the latter and then the former?
Not a dumb question! It's not something that's public knowledge so I can only speculate. I think the fact that he's Helen's boyfriend does play a major role both because of the "who you know" factor and also because he did end up seeing the show a lot and probably helped Helen run lines and stuff so he's already very familiar with the show. Usually even if an actor is offered a role they still have to do some form of audition, even if it's more informal, more so to see where the actor's "baseline" is than anything else.
I'm pretty sure union rules require auditions even if someone has already been chosen so it also makes sense to include Andrew in auditioning, but honestly I'm not 100% sure how it all works. I'm not a professional actor so I'm only speaking from the limited stuff I've read online
I really do worry about the future of this show. Stop clauses are an industry standard, 2 weeks of low ticket sales, sometimes less depending on how low those are, and they’ll be shut down.
Andrew can and should drop out, but that won’t erase the damage that statement did. If they move forward with Andrew, I hope they have someone whose name has some pull ready to take his place.
Something needs to be done quickly, or I don’t see this show seeing 2026, which is very upsetting.
I do think there's enough people who don't know anything about what's going on who will gladly buy tickets, but I think there will be a dip in sales anyway. But to be fair I think there would be a dip in sales no matter who they cast next unless it was someone super famous. It is definitely a dumb decision, obviously on a moral level, but also on a business level, because this isn't a good look and I've seen people in the comments saying that they will no longer support/recommend/see the show. It's really sad that this is the path they're taking.
I still think that the Tony wins and the fact that it is a genuinely amazing show will help. It's not exactly a Great Comet situation for several reasons, partly because GC didn't win as many Tonys. I know that seems like a silly reason but as an usher I know that if a musical has won best musical people who aren't even big theater fans will see it.
I hope the ticket prices go down though, because asking $500 with all the negative press they've been getting is definitely going to sink them.
saw this really good post on r/broadway that I think effectively communicates a lot of things some people on this site need to hear
Should I watch MHE with Andrew? On one hand, I really want to support the show. I really don’t want it to turn into another Great Comet. Plus, I’ve been a fan of that man before, and I’ve always really wanted to see him live on stage (unfortunately I missed out on his Little Shop stint).
But on another hand… I don’t feel the most comfortable about it. I saw and listened, to how the casting decision felt like a betrayal.
Listen I still think this is a beautiful show that should be supported. I don’t want it to close for many reasons, one of them being that even with Andrew it’s still a show with significant Asian representation so if it closes that will be lost.
9 weeks is definitely enough to close a bway show, so if people stop going because of Andrew it will probably close (or they’ll put in an emergency replacement early, which I hope they do. it’s what they’d do if they weren’t stupid but judging by the statement they made I’m not confident).
This is a really hard question to answer because it’s very nuanced and this is part of the reason why the move to cast Andrew is so shitty. It taints the show and makes both former and newer fans uncomfortable with supporting it.
I don’t think we should boycott the show necessarily, because again, the show closing would be worse than it staying open in terms of representation, even with a white lead. At the end of the day when you make your decision, really weigh your priorities and what matters to you, if it’s better to take a stand on this issue by refusing to support whitewashing, or if it’s better to support a show that still does have AAPI representation in most of the rest of the cast and in the story itself. I don’t think there’s a wrong answer, it’s just how you feel is the best way to approach it. Maybe consider rushing since that way you’ll be giving them less money? Idk.
If other people have a better answer please chime in, I’m only one person with one opinion and I don’t think it’s fair to only take what I say into consideration for this.
since someone was being annoying in my comments about how we should bring up the fact that abf is jewish…as a jew myself I think we should still support the push for representation in communities that are not our own. there is a much larger conversation to be had about the lack of jewish rep in an industry that is built on the shoulders of so many jews, but this is not the time to play that card. if we don’t want patti lupone to play jewish characters we shouldn’t accept abf playing an asian robot. same goes for casting straight actors in lgbt roles and so on. honestly if boop had lasted long enough for replacements and had cast a white woman to replace jasmine amy rogers we would be just as angry, even though betty boop isn’t necessarily black, because having a black actress in that role was a major stride in representation. I can be mad about a show like cabaret casting non-jews in jewish roles while still also being mad about this mhe casting. in fact, I get so mad specifically because I know what it feels like to have opportunities taken from your community. this fight is intersectional and diverse, and if we want this kind of thing to stop happening we have to make sure we support communities that aren’t our own as well (while still listening to the members of those communities and not speaking over them).
anyway support conrad ricamora’s scholarship fund!
I've been carrying a lot of grief lately. Grief from being told… Conrad Ricamora needs your support for Support Conrad Ricamora's Scholarshi
my main problem with the statement is that it’s all over the place and feels more like an argument than an explanation or apology. I have a feeling we’ll be seeing another statement soon. as always let this be a gentle reminder to not harass the actors involved or even will and hue. clearly this is an opportunity for growth and it will be interesting to see how the community responds but dming or mentioning the creators in hate comments doesn’t help anything
again about the whole “they’re robots” excuse: THE POINT OF THE SHOW IS THAT THE ROBOTS ARE USED TO HIGHLIGHT THE HUMAN EXPERIENCE!!!!!! they’re not just robots. and even if they were they’re still being played by humans to an audience of humans. the representation matters no matter what kind of character it is, whether it’s a bird or a plane or superman.
