alecto shrugged her shoulders without bothering to look up and meet olivia’s gaze. a tiny smile quirked at the corners of her mouth, but she knew there would be more fun in pretending it was all for the baked goods on display, and not for the topic of conversation olivia had started them in on. she fingered the plate holding muffins ( not without wondering who would want a muffin at night, at a party ) and dropped her tone to something conversational. “ so quick to assume what my cup’s holding, olivia? maybe there’s nothing less innocent than apple juice. “ it was not apple juice. but when alecto straightened her posture to meet olivia’s line of sight, she tipped the cup to her lips and both eyebrows over the rim of it. she could hear, somewhere behind her, some fool crash into some other fool — likely the one pushing brownies like water. alecto rolled her eyes at the noise and allowed her focus to drift back to olivia and the table of sweets between them. “ though personally, apple juice and brownies aren’t that great a mix. “
olivia’s lips quirked in a sly smile, her hands still busy occupying themselves the the rather delicious cake as she made her way closer to the girl. “ call it an educated guess, ” she teased, stopping just in front of her friend to lean her hip against the table. the sound of drunken boys pushing each other ever so close to the edge of the waterfall was hardly a distraction for the slytherin as she watched alecto drink slowly from what she could only assume was certainly not apple juice. “ i might assume that apple juice and any of these treats would not be a good mix, though personally i’m not a fan of apple juice altogether. ” chewing on the last little piece of her little cake, olivia reached past alecto for a fresh cup at the other end of the table. “ now, my dear ‘lecto, would you mind sharing what it is you’re drinking? or are we keeping our valuables close to our chest tonight? ”
