meet lee yuri, recovering damsel in distress
3rd year law undergrad, debate club + football
was evicted from gaeum building this year (put a pin on that) but was luckily saved last minute from the streets by a kindred soul in b612 putting in a good word for her
affluent family, elite upbringing, the works. dad worked at lg since basically as long as she can remember, mom had a dermatology practice in seoul. they move to chicago when yuri's 15 for dad's work. all in all, yuri can't wait to return to sk
her life has always been composed of rich kids like her and their inane little problems, it's the hand she knows how to play. chicago is more of the same in most regards, but the rules are askew, different in an infinitesimally subtle way that completely eludes her. it's the first time she realizes how cruel the games can be when you're not dealing the cards
she returns to korea as soon as she can, eager to once again be in on the jokes. she's yeonhwa legacy through her mom, so the process isn't as gruelling as she'll make it sound in internship interviews. but it's still an adventure, living by herself in seoul for the first time and all that
while it's good, it's great. she's back with old friends and making new ones, a consistent presence in every study group and every party. she doesn't do social clubs but she knows everyone there is to know in them
the troubles start when she makes the assumption she can date anyone she wants. she'd forgotten how these things work — if the friends don't approve, issues are bout to arise. and it's very obvious her boyfriend and her friends don't get along from the very start
long story short, she gets into one too many fights with her friends over her boyfriend, and so the tight knit group breaks with her after two years. and then he breaks up with her after a few months. and then it just kind of seems like her life in seoul as she'd been living it is over
she'd known she'd be closing doors by dissolving those connections, but it's immediately clear she'd underestimated just how many those would be. acquaintances become strangers overnight, she's rejected from all the top legal firms her former friends were connected to for internships, and she's evicted from gaeum, where some of them live
so rn yuri's basically sorta fucked. she's still adjusting to the complete deading of her social life and working around the professional burnt bridges (she didn't expect she'd have to deal with that kind of thing in undergrad lol). a part of her is so over this and finds this whole thing very high school, but to be fair most of her is heartbroken and embarrassed and furious. it is what it is
all in all i guess she's a sort of serena van der woodsen who didn't so much as disappear scandalously, shrouded in mystery but rather faded a little pathetically from the spotlight lmao don't count her out just yet though, who knows what the future holds!
as for plots,
if anyone wants to be part of any of the aforementioned drama, i'd very much welcome that. i'm willing to talk it out and adjust minor details to make plotting easier so just lmk what you need!
football girlies! she's a bit of a hardass about it, she's played since she was little and it may be the most consistent thing in her life. she plays defense for the team, typically as a centre-back. i'd love girls in the team who had preconceived notions abt her due to her previous campus fame, girls who think she takes football too seriously, girls who are even more of hardasses than her about it and butt heads with her, anything at all
as for debate club: she's not your strongest soldier, i'll make that clear. she's there to develop public speaking and argumentation skills and she kinda sorta hates it, but her mama raised no bitch she gets the job done when she needs to. she'd just prefer the team consider their other options first.
dorm mates, study groups, hook ups that she doesn't remember exactly but they have smth scheduled later that week uh oh, hook ups she chases after to feel something, people who beat her for internships she wanted, people with strong opinions about her crossing paths with her, new friends that are outside her typical circle!! etc.
as for the current event, she'll be there no matter what. her summer internship is eating her alive so she'll just take this weekend to put on cute outfits, take some cute pics for her socials and touch grass, especially with dpr live and peggy gou. she doesn't plan on attending any of the after parties but she'll definitely end up attending every single one once she's buzzed enough (save her cute astronomy enthusiast showing her constellations you can fix her life)
