Hey Shychemist. I've been following your blog for awhile and I want to bring up something that seems dated but nonetheless holds to be accurate today. I feel like the girls who consider themselves to be on the science side of tumblr to be horribly mistaken. It's statistically proven that women applicants struggle to get into stem doctorate programs, and rightfully so, they don't belong there. examples- atomic-o-licious, brainsx , adventuresinchemistry, i can't fit anymore but you get it
It doesn’t seem dated, your attitude is dated. This is the 21st century.
Women deserve to be in STEM programs just as much as men. I’d wager they deserve to succeed in the Sciences even more than men because of the sexism and misogyny they experience.
They struggle to get in because they’re the minority, and a lot of people who could admit them are sexist (regardless of gender) because of the society they grew up in. Its not through any intellectual weakness. These women are amazing and just as smart as the men in their fields.
You have no right to say these things to these amazing women, many of whom I consider to be friends.
Wow. That seems like really fucking wrong. And offensive. And I would love to take some more time out of my day to be pissed about it. But…
It seems that I have a lot of fucking science to do. So, uh, screw that. If anybody needs me, me and my lady bits will be getting some fucking science done.

Crap, I’m a woman biologist. I’d go get another career but I have a groundbreaking thesis on rapid evolution of reproductive isolation between seed beetle populations to finish.
I’m not a well-known tumblr scientist…but I am a scientist all the same. And while I could probably obtain a more gender-appropriate occupation… I’m pretty content with the fact I’m an atmospheric chemist Additionally, I am also one of the few women who have managed to be selected to intern at NASA’s airborne research program.
Do I not deserve a place in the STEM fields, anon?

Yo, I haven’t posted for a while, but I’m doing a PhD in isotope geochemistry and this made me mad enough to come out of the Pb isotope lab and take this ‘selfie’ to make damn sure no-one thinks that girls can’t do science. I do what I do because I love it, and you know what? I kick ass at it. So jog on hateful anon, we’ve got science to do.
I’m just a guy who happens to be a science major, but even I feel outrage when I hear that girls/women either do not like or are not good at science. This is such a preposterous notion! Those who hold to this idea are either unaware or ignore the enormous amount of data that proves otherwise. See my post here.
Marine biologist reporting in! Saw this on my dash and thought I’d join :P This is just me plodding along doing some coral growth monitoring assessments, bioimaging, endless GC work on isoprene production in marine bacteria, analysing data and debating with my internationally recognised (female) peers about the implications of future climate change on the tropics etc. But its science! And I friggin love it. So please anon, don’t tell me what I can’t do.

Railway Systems Performance Engineer over here! Not science, but still STEM. And lemme tell you, I belong here. I recently optimized a process that was taking a week, and made it a half a day job. I have a first class degree from a top university. And I am *not* a magical special snowflake exception to the rule. Women belong in STEM. The end.

Awww yis. I’ve considered cosplaying her myself, though her coronation outfit not her frozen one. But I’ll probably try Anna first. Anyway, theres so many costumes for it, tutorials, patterns, this was an easy one!
CORONATION OUTFIT
Dress
Long, green, fitted dress with a bodice edged in gold. It has beautiful embroidery both on the hem and the bodice itself. Worn beneath or most likely attached, to the bodice is a long black sleeved top, with a high collar. It also has a small bit of embroidery around the collar.
Patterns: 1, 2, Skirt 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14.
Bodice Patterns: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13.
Embroidery Help: 1, 2, 3.

Cloak
It’s either a cape or a cloak, I get those too mixed up! It’s a beautiful, high collared magenta cloak with a small gold and blue jeweled clasp. The top is bordered in purple, though the rest doesn’t seem to be. It has it’s own embroideries around the hem, and though I don’t have an image of it, it’s train has some too.
It appears to have two layers if you look at it from the back.
To make the brooch, get a pendant or brooch tray and a flat backed fake jewel. Make sure they are the same size, the jewel needs to fit into the tray.
I’ve heard fleece being a reccomended fabric. Something warm.

Accessories
Accesories for this would be the gloves, the shoes and the crown. The shoes appear to be black flats but some people have even used black slippers, as they are easy to embroider. They are black with bronze borders, matching her dress and with green and magenta embroidery.
For her gloves, they are a pale green with darker green embroidery. And her crown, is a gold tiara with a blue, diamon shaped crystal in its center.

Pale blond or white. Pale blond in my opinion looks better. You can either get a wig and braid it or buy one already braided. You may want a lace front. Make sure you braid in the thin blue ribbons if you can.

Arda reccomends a Eowyn for this but a Deliah might also suit. In either Titanium, Ash or Platinum Blonde. Or White/Silver.

THE ICE DRESS
Dress
The same pattern as above should work for this. However it has at least one long slit up the right side. The see through top has the same pointed sleeves as above, but a much lower collar. All most off the shoulder. Her train is tucked into her bodice. (that will be the next section) The bodice appears to be made up of tiny rectangular sequins in blues, greens, whites and silvers.
The top is a shear silvery/white/pale blue material that gets darker towards the sleeves. Like a gradient. This dress needs to be glittering. Like it’s covered in ice or diamonds.
For the bodice most people use sequins or buy rolls or tapes of sequin film. Cornflower blue is the one I’ve seen most popular but it wouldnt do you arm to mix colours.

As said above, it’s tucked into the bodice. It’s as glittery as you can get and covered in snowflake designs. It’s made from a shear fabric. Some cosplayers opt for white, others silver or blue or green. It’s up to you which you chose.

Shoes are really the only extra thing. The colour varies but she goes from flats to jagged, icy heels.

Same colour as above. And again you can either buy it braided or loose. Don’t forget she has small silver/white/blue snowflake pins in her hair and one larger around around the tail of the braid.
