It's very counter-productive and turning them off the idea of not harming women and homosexuals. I believe it's harmful to the movement. The judgmental way activists refer to woman beaters and homophobes, the failure to recognize nuance and the fact that we all support human enslavement and exploitation by merely participating in the consumer economy.
The impulse to separate yourself from other humans into a morally superior category by claiming that woman beaters and homophobes torture, kill, and exploit vulnerable beings, while failing to recognize systemic issues or your own complicity in an oppressive system. Saying that opposers of womens and gay rights are exploiting and killing their victims is a factually incorrect view that lacks nuance. Most of them do not actually torture and kill women or gays. They provide support for a culture that does. Research shows that shaming them for being abusive is counterproductive. Just like the majority of feminists and LGBT-rights supporters provide financial support for industries that enslave and exploit humans. It is hypocritical to hold individuals entirely responsible for what is really a systemic issue unless you grow all of your own food and don't shop at any chain stores. Because senseless violence is obviously on par with unattainable goals like living 100% slave-labour products free. Solid logic!"
