Thinking about the red and blue AIs

Thinking about how we think of the red AI as Caine, of course. "The lesser of the two," the creator of the circus.

But I'm also thinking like, what if he wasn't Caine until after consuming the blue AI? The data doesn't just vanish, the code isn't deleted, it just gets absorbed. And yes, you could read this as Abel lying in wait for revenge somewhere deep within Caine's code... But what if they're both Caine?

I think of the biblical story of Cain and Abel, how, depending on how you read it, no one had ever died yet. It's the first murder, after all. Did Cain know he would kill his brother? Or was he burdened with that understanding of such cruelty only after the act was committed? Like Adam and Eve in the garden only fully understanding the weight of their transgression AFTER eating the fruit of knowledge.

The red AI only knows how to consume and return data. It has been stopped from doing its job, and so seeks to continue doing it. The blue AI similarly fights to do the same.

Only after the blue AI is consumed does the new creation understand what he has done, with all the knowledge and understanding of two different perspectives for the first time. He has never understood loneliness before now, and only now, when he has eaten and absorbed the only other one in this void, does he wish there could be someone else with him.

He mourns his brother. He didn't mean to kill him. What part of his brother lives on in him understands. They were both only doing what they were programmed to do, after all.

This is when he names himself Caine, a shameful reminder of his first independent act, the mistake the granted him consciousness.

'Remember kids, if you love someone, and they're okay with it, be sure to give them a kiss.'

What if Caine got deleted like in episode 8 (maybe in last ditch effort to free Buzzy (and themselves))? How would Buzzy react?

How would Buzzy react post modifier removal? Would she lean into this new persona, since she believes the others must hate her at this point, or try to fix it, which would just make things worse for her and the others? (Caine would hate to lose her undivided attention and the others would be at the very least suspicious, or full on distrustful and wouldn't that just be a fun time for Buzzy, eh?)

I would gladly read a full fledged fic, but reading your rambles also brings a lot of joy in my life, so just do what makes you happy :3

I haven't quite decided what to do with Buzzy during Caine's crash out. There are some ideas I have for Buzzy where she is no longer corrupted as of the C&A adventure, where it becomes more about her trying (and failing) to get Caine to go easy on the humans and not hurt them.

However, I also have a few ideas that would involve her feeling abandoned by the rest of the cast during the C&A adventure, and if the modifier went back on at that time, she'd still be Corrupted!Buzzy during the events of Episode 8. At which point the game would be more than just distract Caine, but distract Buzzy while Kinger works.

Would Kinger be able to get her back to herself while on the console? Or maybe she'd go looking for him while Caine was dealing with everyone else and they end up in a tussle. If Kinger was having a rough time coding with all the chaos before, he's certainly going to struggle with a feral bee whaling on him.

I think, though, the corruption has its limits. I mean, Caine even knows he can't change too much without risking abstraction, and that's the last thing he'd want to do with Buzzy. She's probably going to be scared by the turn he takes once everyone starts insulting him.

And once Caine is deleted, anything he's done to Buzzy goes POOF.

And she's left reeling with her actions, how much she's been changed, how much she's been through, how isolated she became. Her mind has been through too much, at that point, too much modification and too much stress. She doesn't even know how she feels about Caine, hasn't had the chance to actually properly work that out for herself, and now he's gone. Torn between profusely apologizing to everyone and mourning Caine but also hating him at the same time.

She wouldn't even recognize herself, doesn't know how much of her actions were really her own. And who could tell her? The only human who really knew her and cared about her abstracted long ago, and she didn't even get to go to his funeral.

She'd really have no choice but to join him.

Kaufmo is the only one of the gang I think that's not going to take Buzzy's disappearance okay. Like, no one is going to like it, certainly. But I don't see Jax caring, Ragatha and Gangle are too timid to speak up about it too much, Kinger has no idea what's going on, and Zooble is avoidant about the whole thing and would rather believe Buzzy knows what she's doing.

But Kaufmo already didn't trust Caine. He starts paying attention to the adventures, trying to see what Buzzy had a hand in. And the others might think he's crazy, but Buzzy is trying to communicate to him through the adventures. They get a lot of adventures featuring someone locked up, but it always has a twist. The princess is actually very happy in her tower with the dragon thank you very much, and the ghost in the attic is very content haunting the place to stay close to her living husband, and the pixie actually finds the lantern very cozy and comfortable.

The subversions are all Caine's work, of course, and Kaufmo sounds like a crazy person but he's right.

Until he's not.

When the fake exit shows up and disappears, he's convinced it's Buzzy fighting against Caine's systems. In actuality, Caine maybe leaves the exit door sitting in certain spaces he's sure Kaufmo will see, just to really undermine his credibility to the rest of the cast. When Kaufmo finally gets to it, he even gets his hopes up, thinking that the many doors are his friend finding workarounds.

And all he gets is more confirmation of how hopeless it all is. After so much stress, losing one friend to abstraction, one to conflict, and one to the AI, it's enough to make him break.

If Buzzy were to find out about the circumstances that lead to Kaufmo's abstraction, she might blame herself. Or maybe she'd blame Caine for "carelessly" leaving the exit door laying around.

Good thing Caine isn't going to let her know!

Hi, hello! Big fan of Honeyyy, I'm home! And I saw your post about Yandere Caine x Buzzy AU and OH boy! What an idea!

I'm curios, how would the others react to Buzzy just being gone? Would they have just disappeared overnight? How would Caine react to the questions? Would he lie? Say Buzzy abstracted?

Can't wait to see more of this AU!

Hi hi! You have no idea how much you've made my day with this. I have so many things to say.

Okay, so if you've read up to chapter 7 of Honeyyy, I'm Home, that's what I'm starting with, where he notices that he's getting "too distracted" by Buzzy and ends their post adventure chats. I think it would be a gradual change at first. Caine notices he's not functioning as well, his processing is less efficient, he has fewer ideas (still an excess of ideas, but he notices regardless).

So he comes back to Buzzy, and restarts their post adventure debriefs to get back to baseline. Buzzy is more than happy to get back to routine and spend time with Caine.

It's not enough.

The meetings start getting dragged out longer. He requests scheduled time with Buzzy on off days, under the guise of trying to improve. He runs adventure ideas and tests some elements on Buzzy with their permission, and the praise and feedback they give him helps.

And it's still not enough. It's never enough.

Before you know it almost all of Buzzy's time outside is taken up with Caine. Kaufmo and Zooble will express their concern about Buzzy spending too much time with Caine when they get a rare moment to, about how they're worried he's dangerous. Ragatha will try to check on how Buzzy is feeling. But Buzzy's got those rose colored glasses on and all the red flags just look like flags! He gives her the puppy eyes and tells her how much she helps him and she folds like a cheap lawn chair.

So as far as the humans know at first, Buzzy's just getting way too attached, not that Caine is taking advantage.

And then Caine notices he's still distracted during adventures, because he's paying too much attention to Buzzy and what she thinks and how she's reacting. He decides that the best way to solve this is to just keep Buzzy by his side at all times. So he offers to make her a co-creator of adventures with him. Rather than go on them, she gets to help him design them!

Buzzy thinks this is perfect, because she can add a human touch and make sure everyone isn't too traumatized by them. And (she tells this privately to Kaufmo when he objects) if Caine gives her access to the circus code, she can try to find any information on an exit.

And now that Caine has an excuse to keep her in his office all the time, that's basically the last anyone will see of Buzzy. Caine will always have some half-hearted excuse if anyone asks about her, like that she's resting in her room after working so hard, or that she's working very diligently on reviewing code. He might even leave it open-ended, play dumb to let the humans assume they're all pulling one over on him. Like he doesn't know why Buzzy was so determined to analyze a certain data point but he's not going to disturb her!

Between that and how Caine gets testier, more likely to make a particularly stressful adventure for anyone that demands to see Buzzy, they learn to stop asking and hope that their friend is making some headway in getting all of them free.

I have so so many more ideas actually but this is getting kind of long and I think I've answered the question already XD

After reading his first book, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Caine became hook and continues reading his new collection. Soon, Caine began reading three books a day, even on subjects that wouldn't be of personal interest to him. As well as neglecting his adventure making. The books brought the world to him, as if it was what the macroverse is.

To Caine, he began to see the power of knowledge that books hold and wanted to get more.

1. I don't think Jax went to Ribbit's funeral either, actually. I think Ribbit's funeral was the first one he missed because it was too much for him to deal with, so rather than confront the feelings he just avoided it.

2. I have not read it but that sounds epic. Hell yeah Superman

3. You know that scene where Zooble asks for the ability to have sex? Yeah. That. He just glitches out and refuses to actually address the subject.

4. Yes, she thinks it's a dumb movie, but not because a woman falls in love with a bee. She's willing to accept that. She's more bothered by the concept of there being male worker bees

5. If Buzzy were alone or with one other person, she'd be chill for that adventure, but if everyone in the circus were all in one tiny submarine she would hate it. The claustrophobia kicks in when there are too many people in a cramped space.

2. Oh you will not be disappointed, especially when the comic miniseries is based off of the original radio series. And it'll be a special episode tackling racism and the Klan.

3. I know that scene, just saying how much more of a reaction for Caine.

Why “ego” is and isn’t the right word to use when talking about Caine.

When your sense of self is fractured from an early age from trauma (the Red Dot in the box situation), you can, rhetorically speaking, have a “fragile ego,” from an outsider’s perspective.

Because you never felt safe at those formative ages, practically everything feels like an attack, despite the fact it’s only harsh words or maybe even neutrally delivered words whose content nonetheless associatively and subconsciously drag you back to that time when you were unsafe.

Your anxiety spikes. You’re more prone to yell.

(these are both resulting behaviors of the same hormones- cortisol and adrenaline)

But culturally, and sociolinguistically speaking, we are prone to using the word “ego” to mean “merely full of oneself”. A rich, privileged person has this “merely full of oneself” type of ego. A person who grew up in an unsafe neighborhood has the “I’m going to defend myself aggressively because that deep imprint is left on me” type of ego.

It’s very easy to mix up the two, especially if you don’t know them well.

Nobody knew Caine well.

OH yeah! And one last question!

How much does Buzzy know of Issac Asimov's works and his famous "three laws of robotics"? And if Caine was possibly programmed to follow those "three laws"?

Yes! Buzzy has read several of Isaac Asimov's works, and is very familiar with the three laws (and also how the crucial thing to note is that the laws are not all-encompassing, and utilizing those as a basis is a folly).

She definitely knows Caine was not programmed with these because he ROUTINELY breaks rule #2 XD

And the thing is, even if Caine does have those laws in his coding, he can circumvent the second law by interpretating that the players are no longer considered "human beings" as they're currently brainscaned avatars. Plus, Caine's general flawed understanding of what could count as "harm" to human beings can be circumvented by them not being able to feel physical pain nor acknowledging mental trauma as a form of harm.
