What was the first element of your OC that you remember considering (name, appearance, backstory, etc.)? 

 i considered his name first. i already knew who i wanted this character to be when i started making him, from the faceclaim to the occupation, but i didn’t know what i’d call him. i wanted it to be scottish, but nothing too plain. originally it was supposed to be chris moores, but i cut off the ‘s.’

What is the most recent thing you’ve discovered about your OC?

chris is very willing to give up his career (temporarily) for children. chris grew up in a big family, & he was a third of five children; he got to play big brother & guardian to two smaller children, & he liked it. chris feels the father role is one role that would suit him better than any other -- BUT he isn’t necessarily in a huge rush to get there.

                brows furrow as she takes the last bite from her snack,   clapping hands together to swipe off any crumbs.   they haven’t been filming for very long,   but she still feels like she doesn’t know a good majority of her costars.   chris included.   she knew his name,   but that was really all she knew.   the whole time she’s been on set,   he seemed to prefer keeping to himself.   perhaps a   CONSCIOUS   choice,   or maybe he was just   SHY.   still,   it helped to have friends   ——   people you could laugh with on set and in between takes.    ❛    have you worked with anyone here before ?    ❜

effortless    &     easy     conversation     flows     between     them,     like     wine     out     of     the     bottle.     chris     finds     himself     conscious     of     this     as     a     laugh     falls     from     his     lips,     light     but     genuine     in     its     nature.     ❛❛     i     try     not     to     undermine     anyone.     i’m     certain     you’d     throw     a     good     share     of     punches,     BUT     i’m     afraid     i’d     still     come     out     the     winner.     i’ll     share     some     if     you     don’t     hit     my     face     too     awfully     bad,     though.     ❜❜

his     eyes     shift     to     group     of     actors     and     actresses     near     the     set.     his     smile     weakens,     not     from     disheartening,     but     from     focus.     they     all     rehearse     lines,     or     chat     with     one     another,     &     they     all     looked     perfectly     in     their     place.     years     had     made     way     for     them     on     these     sets,     &     had     given     them     well     structured     routines     to     do     in     between     takes.     he     enjoyed     watching     them.

❛❛     i’ve     not     worked     with     any     of     them.     i’ve     rubbed     shoulders     with     a     good     lot     of     them     during     award     seasons,     but     that’s     about     the     extent     of     it.     ❜❜     he     shrugs.     blue     eyes     return     to     her.     ❛❛     what     about     you     ?     have     you     worked     with     anyone     here     before     ?     ❜❜

          Oh, Ben knew of day drinking alright. He’d seen enough of it from his father growing up to know it wasn’t something he wanted to risk dabbling in if he could help it. Besides, you had to stop at some point. Their poor livers!

          Narrowly avoiding getting bumped into, Ben takes another long sip of his drink. Lighten up a little. The guy’s reasoning brings a lop-sided smile to his lips. That he understood. Things had always had more of a silver lining when you weren’t quite out in the real world yet.  “   I think I’ll pass on your hangover cure. The thought of being at the barre drunk makes me feel sick enough. What about you? Don’t tell me partying is what you care about.   ”

chris     watches     the     party     goers     with     a     sense     of     sadness     overcoming     him.     it’s     a     brief     feeling,     as     if     it’s     come     only     to     make     him     self-conscious     in     his     place     for     a     moment.     he     shouldn’t     be     at     parties     like     this,     holding     onto     something     that     never     was     his     to     begin     with.     BOREDOM     was     such     a     toxic     little     feeling,     &     he     knew     this     man     was     JUDGING     him.

chris     grins     despite     the     anxiety     he’s     developed.     the     guy     is     FUNNY    &     bright.     someone     he     can     have     easy     conversation     with     while     he     finishes     the     rest     of     the     drink     in     his     hand.     ❛❛     i     don’t     care     about     partying     at     all.     i     care     about     a     lot,     though     :     reading,     acting,     movies.     i’m     more     inclined     to     like     artistic     things,     i     think.     ❜❜
