While I sort of get the impulse, it does always get my back up when people talk about something like Animorphs with this attitude of 'omgggg remember these books, how on EARTH were we allowed to read these books, they're so grim and dark and violent and tragic, no adults could possibly have known what they actually contained or they'd have been banned.'

And like. Allowing for the fact that there absolutely are adults who think every distressing topic ever should be banned from children's literature - they're children's books. You were allowed to read them when you were a kid because they were written for kids. Bridge to Terabithia is also a children's book. So is Where the Red Fern Grows and Old Yeller and Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry and The Giver and loads of other books that deal with heavy, difficult topics. It is appropriate and good for children to have books about these things that are tailored to their reading levels and it genuinely really bugs me when people act like they're somehow not really for kids because bad things happen in them or they end tragically.

i think it’s funny when people try to compare chopper and hk-47. i think they would definitely get along in some capacity, but the main thing that separates them is that chopper ultimately does care about his crew + kanan and is completely loyal to hera. hk… on the other hand… well…

You ABSOLUTELY could and should adapt KOTOR 2 for the screen (tv or movie) before even trying to do KOTOR 1 bc The Exile and her story is so much more interesting than the plot of KOTOR 1 and also Revan works so much better as a character you only hear about and live in the wake of than as someone you can emotionally invest in as a protagonist. Revan is an empty vessel that is a pure reflection of the player; The Exile at least has her own story and unique positioning in the Star Wars universe that exists outside of your own roleplaying decisions as the player.

ik KOTOR 1 has a more *iconic* story (i.e. more legible as an action-adventure romp) but KOTOR 2 is where ALL of the sauce is -- it's like the Dark Souls of Star Wars; the universe feels like it's in a state of entropy, the ties that bind are frayed, myth and fact are interchangeable in the chaos of a war that no one understands or even knows how to fight anymore. and the story is still compelling without the whole meta move of the game incorporating the leveling system and companion influence into the plot. you just have to tweak it a bit but that's where the fun challenge is.

I love dante from the hit video game series devil may cry because he is somehow both the coolest motherfucker in the room and also a complete loser. he has soloed some of the most powerful beings in existence. he is constantly surrounded by beautiful women and yet he gets with none of them. he and his twin brother both suffer from a chronic case of The Cain Instinct. he rides around on a demon-powered motorcycle. his favorite pastimes are kicking ass and taking names, and also dance dance revolution. he has “been stabbed and jabbed by a number of things over the years.” he is obsessed with strawberry sundaes. he is constantly broke as shit because he keeps giving away his money to people who’ve lost their homes or family members to demon attacks, but also because he refuses to eat anything except for pizza and flakes out on jobs because he supposedly “got bored.” he fist-fought his nephew in the vatican. he truly is the character of all time.
