the introduction of each of the ambassadorial aides in babylon 5 is so good. vir starts playing video games on a space gameboy in a diplomatic meeting with two other major galactic powers. it’s lennier’s very first day outside the convent and he’s scared to look at his boss. meanwhile na’toth is smarter and cooler than g’kar from the very first minute. she has been on the job for an hour when g’kar tells her someone’s trying to assassinate him and she’s like wow, sounds like that sucks for you, couldn’t be me though because i would have already killed you. she doesn’t even look up from her palm pilot. then she saves his ass by kicking him really hard in the neck.

Gotta love the Decemberists. Most of the songs are about drowning. A lot of the time you get an achingly beautiful song about love that rewrites a part of your soul. Sometimes the song is just about a guy wandering around killing people with a rock.

Saw: Don't listen to the haters I'm not goreporn or a Se7en ripoff I'm just a fun little thriller whodunnit with one of the best twist endings of all time. I look cheap because I am cheap but I make up for it by being incredibly original and also by having Westley Princess Bride and Danny Glover

Saw 2: I'm a good little sequel and much better than you'd expect going in. Donnie Wahlburg is here playing a crooked cop which is his specialty. I'm what Escape Room 2019 wishes it was. Big moment for fans of evil women. My twist ending might not be as good as the first one, but it's close

Saw 3: I'm two hours and really shouldn't be. I'm a little medical drama with one of the most annoying horror protagonists of all time. I'm the start of the I Hate Women phase in the Saw franchise, so get excited for that I guess. Amanda is back but not in a way you'll like, probably. Crooked Cop Donnie is also back but only barely

Saw 4: If you don't like soap operas you won't like me, but at least I look cool! Amanda fans will be mildly annoyed that she was replaced by a more annoying Junior Jigsaw (god forbid women do anything). Crooked Cop Donnie is back in a bigger way even though he mostly just hangs out against his will. I continue to prove that most people's concept of rehabilitative justice is shallow at best, especially if you're a serial killer with a god complex or a crooked cop--even if you might be the least bad crooked cop of the series. I'm the closest to a Se7en ripoff this franchise has seen yet. My twist is pretty lame, which you should get used to.

Saw 5: I just keep getting soapier, but I have one of the best trap plots of the series, so the boring cop drama is easier to handle! This is the only movie where Junior Jigsaw Jr. is ever bearable. I really start pushing the envelope on how many flashbacks should be in a single film. My trap plot twist isn't much of a twist but it does carry a meaningful message about human nature for the first (and probably last, let's be real here) time in the series.

Saw 6: I'm good again! I have a lot to say and get right to it: predatory healthcare systems are scum. That's it, that's the movie, so you can take a load off and reliably enjoy watching me. Sure, I put smoking and robbing people of their health insurance at the same level on the morality scale but at this point in the *Jigsaw voice* "I've never killed anyone" franchise, that's about what you'd expect. We're talking about a guy who tortured a man for trying to kill himself. My soap opera twist is pretty stupid, but my trap plot twist is pretty good.

Saw 3D: I hate women so much it's unreal! If you are a woman or someone who likes women this will bother you for my entire runtime, which is 90 minutes longer than it should be. Westley Princess Bride is back, so that's fun. Junior Jigsaw Jr. goes full Halloween 2, which you will probably find really silly. And after yet another Junior Jigsaw pops out of the pig pen, my twist mostly feels more like cheap fanservice than anything else. You will be grateful you never paid a ticket price for me. I am the worst of the franchise and even a fake dismembered boob cannot save me.

If you’ve had a period of basically dissociating from a hard time of your life, you’ll know that doing even the littlest thing that has an effect in the real world vs on a screen can be so profound. Something as little as you doing a favor for someone, or someone noticing something about you that you didn’t think anyone would even pick up on bc your brain is all messed up about being perceived. Your living footprint is all muddied and murky. It takes a lot to even feel like you’re inhibiting your body. So consequences that come as a direct result of you just living, whether big or small, blow you away on an inexplicable level

Imagine her holding hands with her mother. Within 4 people, you're back in time 100 years, and it's an intimate family dinner. Just after WWI. Add another 16 people, a small party of 20, and you're in the 1500s. Double it, twice, and you're at 80 people. Your family would fill a restaurant, and you're at the height of the Roman empire. At 100 people, Confucius is alive but Socrates has not yet been born. 100 people. That's a medium sized wedding. A small lecture theatre or concert. 200 people, probably the biggest party i could ever hope to host, takes you back 5000 years. The guests at your soirée of parents would be contemporaries of the Egyptian and Indus Valley civilisations, although you'd probably be too busy fixing drinks and nibbles to talk to all of them. Just imagine it. 200 of you. That's all it takes to get back 5,000 years. And we could go further. 1000 people, a decent sized concert, a large high school, and we're at the end of the last ice age. Your ancestors are comparing their pink floyd vinyl with music played on instruments carved from wood or bones of long vanished species. Wander through the crowd. See your own features and phrases and gestures refract out like a kaleidoscope. What would they make of you? What do you make of them? Why does it feel so unfair that even that first 100 years --that small family dinner of four--is out of your grasp?
