Objét de Decor: A Gorgeous Repurposed Vintage Mexico Souvenir Doll Handcrafted Decorative Pillow by ONE CROWNED CRANE

ONE CROWNED CRANE would like to introduce objét de decor. This is when I attached a beautiful objét/object to a decorative handcrafted pillow or item I crafted. I enjoy creating and repurposing beautiful items. Thinking outside of the proverbial box is my specialty. I especially love when my non-traditional ideas are realized in the most beautiful way. This beautiful vintage 1982 Mexican souvenir doll was slightly imperfect, but perfect. She was missing one arm. I wanted to showcase her in the best light. And I imagined her being a centerpiece on a decorative pillow. She was stitched by hand onto the pillow. She was adhered after the pillow was completed. I used fabric from Peru which was sewn and stuffed by hand me. Consequently, I removed the 1982 Mexico sign from her feet and attached it beneath her feet onto the pillow. The trim are rhinestones encased in black plastic. The trim was hand stitched onto the pillow. The lovely pillow is stuffed with recycled eco-friendly fiber fill which is hypoallergenic. Measurements: Height is 15" Width is 10" ***ALERT*** This is not a toy. It wasn't crafted for small children. It is designed to be an accent pillow in your gorgeous home decor. Sometimes one needs some eccentric pop culture and pop art in their home. A piece that'll put a smile onto your face. And I believe my artisanal pop culture art saucer will cause you to smile as well as your guests. I acquired the vintage circa 1970s Federalist Ironstone saucer during one of my Atlanta treasure hunts. The saucers weren't in excellent vintage condition. But, I believe everything can be repurposed and upcycled. My desire was to convert the saucer into one of our most ubiquitous emoji in life and social media, the tongue wagging. I wanted my design to be more artisanal and artsy. Hence the materials used to achieve my concept. The face consists of approximately 2000 plastic tubular beads. I adhered them with adhesive. I allowed the saucer and beads to completely dry for two weeks. I moved the saucer quite rapidly to ensure all beads will stay in place. After confirming beads were completely dry, I added some Italian faux fur I had left over from another project. The faux fur was used to make 'beard' and 'moustache' . The fur has an acrylic back which is quite firm and hard. Once beard was in place, I crafted the tongue with very thick yarn. *All items was attached with adhesive. A pro glue gun. * After attaching faux fur and tongue... I used black fuzzy tube to make nose, eyes, and eyebrows. To complete face, I used black eyelash trim to make hair. Hair, moustache, and beard was cut to desired length.

As I was putting my Christmas decorations away...this wonderful statement fell out of my Ideals Christmas book. I love the wording. I know with each of us...universal good will surpass bigotry and hate. We will be the example of what God inspire us to be...loving people. He didn't make us all the same for a reason, so, let's accept the differences and uplift each other in peace and love. Remember. Universal Good. Many challenges will arise this year {20 Jan 2017 😉}; however, we will be strong and overcome any adversity. Keep working toward the better good. I'm most thankful to God for another year of life. May each of you be blessed and accomplish many of your aspirations.
