40+ year old men who seriously believe the young girls working at stores and restaurants are actually flirting with them just because the girls smile and are friendly are the most disgusting and terrifying things on this planet.
i keep getting messages from men over the age of 40 who were upset by this post and i’d like to sincerely thank them for proving my point so effortlessly.
Hi, we have to be friendly to you. We’re not in love with you.
If the cashier hasn’t acknowledged you, it’s not your fucking turn yet. Idc if no one is talking or the previous customer left the counter. There is a reason we haven’t turned toward you, asked how we can help you, or whatever else. Have some fucking patience.
Yes, this also applies to “I just have a question!”
nerd men are the worst breed of men because theyre just as shitty as other kinds of men except they think theyre oppressed for knowig sonic the hedgehog facts
my friend who works at a video game store has picked up so many fuckin mild (lmao.) stalkers just bc shes a Nice Person working in a video game store. literally every 2-3 weeks we get to hear stories about a new person whos been messaging her private social media accounts, or been waiting for her to finish work.
or, and this one she didnt have to tell me about because i was THERE, literally stood there for 20 minutes w h i l e shes talking to us, in a cafe, in her spare time, out of uniform to wait for a break in conversation so he can engage with her and only her after shes made it ABUNDANTLY clear that not only is she not interested but shes actually WITH OTHER PEOPLE.
dude messaged her bc she stopped showing up in a specific store (partly bc of ppl like him). another guy had to be banned from the store bc he wouldnt leave her alone. nerd boys are not just bad, theyre WORSE, because they never bothered to learn or listen to any form of social cue from a woman, and i know thats true for all men, but theres something so specific to nerd men that makes it just that extra level of shitty.
Not only that, but there are metric tons of movies and books and TV shows about the nerdy guy “winning over” (usually by stalking/manipulating) the love of his life aka some hottie he’s fixated on, and he’s painted as the hero in these stories.
Iconic seafarer beards became a trend to scare away pesky mermaids.
Mermaid, seeing a bald pirate: Zero threat…! Mermaid, seeing a hairy, bearded pirate: If I get too close their face tentacles will eat me…!
Most mermaids only grow short beards as not to scare baby mermaids (longer beards look like the tentacled mouths of hungry squids and octopuses).
Pirates use this innate fear to their advantage to protect themselves from mermaids, hence the iconic beards and hat:
I like how this is presented as factual information

“I get it, I used to work in retail…”
Said the woman who made a $431 online return in store, knowing it hurts our store’s numbers (and it CRUSHED us), and when asked if by chance she received the shipping label to send it back for free said, “yeah, but I don’t want to return it like that.”
Said the woman who grabbed 9 swimsuits, had her daughter slip them on in the corner, and proceeded to leave 8 of them barely hanging onto their hanger or crumpled on the floor in a section it didn’t belong in. Bonus: in the process she ripped off the hygienic stickers off 3 and they had to be damaged.
Said the mom who let her kid suck on a pair of sunglasses and when asked if she was going to buy them got very mad because she didn’t want to buy them and didn’t understand what was wrong with letting her child put his mouth on merchandise she didn’t purchase.
So, really… DO you get it?
The answer is no. She didn’t get it. 🤦🏻♀️ What is wrong with people?
Today I worked self-check and at one point this baby was playing that game where babies just keeping dropping something on the ground so you’ll pick it up so finally I just sat down on the floor and kept handing the baby his baby wipe and the mom apologized and I just wanted to be like “Ma’am today my job is to stand here for eight hours and get yelled at by confused old people so ten minutes of sitting on the floor playing with your baby is honestly the highlight of my day”
Can we normalize the idea that, just like everyone has certain levels of physical labor they can’t perform, everyone also has certain levels of emotional labor they can’t perform? Like, yeah, when you work retail you should be considerate and friendly to all customers, but not everyone can have an energetic mood for 8 hours in a row. That guy that works at the register who’s always got an ear-to-ear smile and has long conversations with every customer about any topic under the sun is not the standard by which all employees’ friendliness should be compared, he’s the equivalent of the guy that works out every day that moves huge items like they’re nothing. Yeah, Joe the unloader can lift 50-pound boxes onto pallets for 8 hours straight, but I can’t. Yeah, Dan the cashier can smile and laugh and be energetic for 8 hours straight, but I can’t. Just like the former doesn’t mean I’m lazy, the latter doesn’t mean I’m rude.

I had so much fun playing PoGO at the park this evening, the only other person there was this 7-year-old kid (his grandma was watching from the car bc it’s freezing today) and he asked if I was playing pokemon and I said, “Yes I am!” and we started playing together (after I checked in with grandma) and I helped him catch his first Pikachu. He caught his but mine ran away and I was like, “Wow, you’re so good at this! You’re going to catch up to me in NO TIME! Great job!” He was so psyched, it was adorable. I love kids, they’re the best to play with.
