@onemorenowheregirl
being a woman is just constantly hating your immediate present self and then looking back and hating your past self for not appreciating your beauty and opportunities at that time and it just goes on like. forever
My wife and I were cooking dinner together and when we sat down to eat she said, “You know what I like about you?” and so I obviously asked her what and she was like “With you, every night feels like Friday,” and it was so fucking cute. Why is she so nice to me.
ridiculous how minors/young adults are the ones who are more vocal about the toxicity of age gap tropes and pedophilia in fiction/fan work while full grown adults in fandoms are the ones who insist there is no problem with it when the younger people are right fucking there saying there in fact is a problem. how thickheaded and trapped in your own little brain must you be to ignore the very demographic that is usually the victims of pedophilia/grooming telling u it’s an issue. and all because you want to draw/write porn and think fandom antis are legitimately here to systematically oppress you. ma’am you’re insides are rotten.
Humans are a communal species that have banded together and cared for their sick, disabled, and elderly since before we were ever modern man. Resources were shared even as skills specialized.
Capitalism isn’t natural. A community should not have members dying of starvation or exposure while there is an abundance of resources. That isn’t how it works. That isn’t how it’s supposed to work.
ok so my roommates are anthropology students and their favorite example for debunking the ‘survival of the fittest’ bs is shanidar 1. (x, x, x)
shanidar 1 is a neanderthal who, at a pretty young age, was hit in the head hard enough to blind him. this also led to that side of his brain shutting down and withering his right arm, and possibly crippling his entire right side. not only that but his skeleton also shows that at some point, he broke a bone in his foot and, in addition to the other factors, resulted in a noticeable limp. there are some sources which say he likely had degenerative diseases. (arthritis was really common in neanderthals)
going off of widespread ideas of “”primitive”” (no longer the word used in anthropology/academia to describe early-modern humans) societies, shanidar probably died really young, deliberately abandoned or killed. i mean, he was severely crippled, blind, etc., he couldn’t contribute anything, he would have been a “”burden to society””, right?
except he lived to be between 40 and 50 years old. (about ~80 in human years)
this means that his social group had to have taken care of him for a minimum of two or three decades without his ‘contributing’ anything significant to the group. this discovery (and Shanidar III’s) was huge because it basically proves that early humans had a concept of hospice. early modern humans cared for the sick and the elderly, greatly extending their lifespan, simply because they cared.
tl;dr: the concept of someone needing to be ‘’useful’’ or ‘’’productive’’’ in society in order to be valued and cared for is a very modern concept and our quasi-predecessors would be ashamed
Also, Shanidar I was buried with flowers. They cared about him after he was dead, too.
As someone with an invisible illness I feel relieved whenever I have a test come back as abnormal. It’s proof that I am ill. No one can deny it or tell me it’s in my head
Why the fuck would you go big when u can go home
My mood currently.
answered a scam call today and had the most bizarre conversation
scam caller: hello, how are you today?
me: great!
scam caller: good. I’m calling because your IP address has been compromised. I’ll just need you to get in front of your computer so we can get your account fixed up.
me: okay! there is one thing I’m wondering, though
scam caller: what?
me: you really couldn’t think of a better lie?
scam caller:
me: like, my “IP address has been compromised.” How, exactly, does an IP address become “compromised”?
scam caller:
me: I was just wondering, is all
scam caller: why did you answer?
me:
me: what?
scam caller: if you knew this wasn’t a legitimate call, then why did you answer?
me: oh, I just though I would have some fun at your expense.
scam caller: what expense? talking is no expense to me.
me: well, you’re currently not accomplishing your goal
scam caller: my goal?
me: your goal of scamming my elderly grandmother. You’re not accomplishing that. I’d call that an expense.
scam caller: well, can I scam you?
me:
me: did you- did you ask if you can scam me?
scam caller: yes. can I scam you?
me, baffled: sure, you can try
scam caller: you need to get in front of your computer
me: yeah, that’s still a problem. I’m eating tater tots right now and I really don’t feel like getting up.
scam caller: okay. I will call you tomorrow morning, then.
me: I might not answer. My grandma definitely won’t.
scam caller: You answered today.
me: …touché?
scam caller: I will call you tomorrow. Have a good day.

AWWWWWW
you know, considering how many times rich people are mentioned as sinful in the Bible versus how many times homosexuals are mentioned as sinful in the Bible, it’s really funny how I’ve never seen entire Christian organizations go out of their way to criticize, boycott, or deny services to rich people…
weird how that works, huh
Fr? Lemme check this out
Here’s the link to all of the free online classes offered by Harvard:

But TBH I prefer the MIT Open Coursewear approach. Feel like taking a class on the policy and economics of nuclear engineering? MIT’s got you covered:
https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/find-by-topic/#cat=engineering&subcat=nuclearengineering&spec=nuclearsystemspolicyandeconomics
In fact they’ve got you covered with A LOT of their courses, everything from fine arts to immunology.

Real talk girls get asked this question repeatedly from the age of about seven. It’s also phrased as “if you could change one thing about your appearance, what would it be?”
STOP. ASKING. Stop asking stop asking stop asking.
Nope gosh dang it I have more to say. Why are girls expected to answer this question like it’s “what’s your favorite color” or something innocuous? Why is this even remotely okay? This is in quizzes, girl’s diaries + activity books, magazines, party games, and school reflections. How is that okay? Why are girls expected to have an answer to this question? Why is it supposed to be normal to decide that you hate a part of your body? Why are we teaching children this?
