Guys, Elon released his stupid AI on Twitter and the first thing his idiot devotees did was ask it if trans women are really women and they are losing it over getting the correct answer back.
Now it’s recounting Elon’s lies for people too
This may be the only AI bot I’ve ever liked.
It's roasting him now.
Amazing
every once in awhile someone's going to see you being happy, doing normal cool shit and they're going to get like, REALLY mad at you. it might be a boss, a family member, really anybody who thinks they have authority over you. but listen to me, you might be on this site right now, trying to take your mind off of some shitty interaction or whatever, and maybe you're here to try to feel better.
I'm here to say that everything's going to be okay. if a miserable little creature tries to make you sad for the sake of making you feel sad, don't give em that power. be happy unapologetically, do things that you know are kind and right, don't allow shitty people to get into your head and make you think depressive thoughts.
you've got this shit and I hope you enjoy your scroll
I think these are some of the kindest tags I've ever been given
LADS I DON'T THINK YOU REALISE HOW AMAZING SHIRLEY ANNE BINGHAM IS
Doctor Who, one of the biggest TV shows in the country, just showed an ambulatory wheelchair user getting out of her wheelchair to transfer to a desk chair. They showed a disabled person getting up out of her wheelchair. On national television.
AND THEY EVEN BUILT IT INTO THE SCRIPT!!!
They don't just mention it in passing, they write it into a tirade of hate which is explicitly written to be extreme, unfair, and absolutely wrong.
This is huge.
hbomberguy’s latest video on plagiarism has made me completely rethink literature and writing. I have never once so much as considered intentionally plagiarizing anyone or anything, but I think there’s something more that has come out of this: the names of the people who created the works Somerton (and others) ripped off.
Plagiarism isn’t only bad because it is lazy and disrespectful, it’s bad because it buries the truth. If you can’t find a source, the conversation is over. Somerton’s sources are fairly easy to find by simply searching his plagiarized lines, but that isn’t true in most cases. Most of the time, the line from statement to source is a lot less clear.
Today, I was writing a report on English Ivy, which is an invasive species here in the US. I wanted to know when it was introduced and I at last found a source claiming it was introduced to the Americas “as early as 1727” on a .net website that seems quite reputable (it has multiple major universities credited in its home page), but there is no citation for where this date came from. I dug deeper and found a pamphlet created by a city government in Virginia that made the same claim, only to discover the first source linked in their bibliography. Another website (a botanical garden’s page) gave the same date with the same source hyperlinked. Of course, I have classes to attend and things to do and probably not enough time to follow the lines back to where this 1727 date came from, but if I had not just watched this video, I wouldn’t have given that date a second thought.
Of course, it doesn’t matter in the long run exactly what year hedera helix was introduced to the Americas, but it makes you wonder how many facts have been so vaguely attributed that it becomes completely impossible to figure out where they originated (and further, whether or not they’re true at all).
in my dream world that i live in sometimes we stop saying things like “NOBODY is gross or dirty!!!” And start saying things like “being gross or dirty isn’t a moral flaw or failing”
not brushing your teeth for months at a time is gross. It’s not a moral failing and does not make you a bad person.
being told I wasn’t gross online by posts by well meaning people when i was a very depressed young teenager for not showering for weeks did not make me feel better, because i felt gross and dirty. What would have actually helped was engaging with the reality (that it was a little gross, what i was doing/unable to do) but that it did not make me a bad person undeserving of help. “Youre not gross and (so) you deserve help!” Okay well i feel gross. This cant be aimed at me.
it also goes against your own brain- everyone thinks things are gross sometimes & to say Nothing is gross rings false. You can be gross and be loveable. Grossness is not failure. Grossness is not a flaw. Gross is not a moral thing. It’s just what it is and has no effect on personhood and i think preaching “having things about you that are dirty or gross does not make someone lesser or unworthy or failed” over “nothing is gross” will carry us a lot further
works for me, anyways. maybe it won’t for you, but it’s helped me a lot more than anything else has.
Wasn’t this episode banned in the UK for that specific reason?

Trick or treat!
obviously all disabilities are totally underrepresented in mainstream and non-mainstream fiction, but I’ve been thinking recently that one I’d really like to see, which you could easily write in offhandedly or as a compelling character-building plot point, and have no trouble casting for in live action, is simply: anything that requires continuous, consistently timed medication.
According to CDC surveys circa 2017-19, roughly 1 out of every 7 women in the USA use birth control pills, which usually need to be taken at a very regular daily time in a very regular monthly pattern.
According to my personal experience, it’s extremely possible to live a basically normal life with low but functional vision and also half a dozen other petty ongoing problems, while also having every single day of your life—and, god knows, any travel you want to do—organized around the fact that you need to take multiple eye drops roughly every 12 hours, one of which needs to stay refrigerated at all times.
If you need regular medication, a portal fantasy adventure presents a real problem. An unexpected urban fantasy adventure that prevents you from going home for more than a day is a problem. Excuse me, aliens who have abducted me? If I list the drugs I regularly take, and tell you very roughly what each does, can you synthesize them perfectly? No, I don’t know any of the active ingredients, sorry. Hell, as a romance novel protagonist, an impulsive overnight stay with a hot stranger I met at a bar isn’t an option!
I think this would be a fun challenge for writers to work around while constructing plots, a good source of characterization as they examine how scrupulous a character is about their schedule (or how anxious once off-schedule), and, seriously, so easy to slide into the background if not a focus of the story. Do you know how often I wander into my kitchen half-asleep and take an eye drop? Roughly twice a day! The sitcom au of my life would just have this as background in a wide variety of scenes! AND it’s not something you need to do a lot of research in order to depict—just note “character must take macguffinex every 6-18 hours or they’ll start to get worried about the long-term health of their [insert organ here]” and use that as a background parameter for your story.

I can’t wait till this is on my dash again on December 24th tbh.
Are you aware that Google is currently being sued by the DOJ for being an illegal monopoly, in conjunction with almost fourty states?
Yes, I am aware
WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN GOOGLE IS BEING SUED
Other (leave in tags)
DON'T LET THIS GO OUT OF CIRCULATION. ADD MORE ONTO IT. QUEUE IT. DON'T LET THIS SITE FUCKING FORGET. THIS TRIAL COULD HAVE MASSIVE CONSEQUENCES FOR THE WHOLE INTERNET.
There didn't use to be a word for the things you can see but are not actively observing.
That word is now skringles.
You're welcome. I have filled the lexical gap.
I have been informed that the word periphery existed prior to this.
I am not pleased.
Here's the thing tho - periphery describes the location of objects and are not objects themselves. Skringles are objects on the periphery, and is not redundant to periphery itself. Skringles is a good valid word. On that note my cat is a constant skringles while I'm working on my laptop and I love her for it.
ok but question, is it skringle singular and skringles plural? or is it skringles either way, like pants (get away with your pair i do not want to hear it) and you say "my pants are on backwards" but it's still singular because there is no one pant or one backwards skringle
I think "a skringle" would be used to specify a particular item within sight (ie. "that picture is a skringle"), but "skringles" would be the general overarching plurality (ie. "there's a whole wall of skringles")? God I hope that makes sense lmao
no that's perfect and exactly what i was asking!! thank you, i'm gonna go try and make it trend on google searches. somehow
hope this helps
Oh my god when you dissociate everything is skringles
YES EXACTLY
This is honestly better advice than “if at first you don’t succeed, try try again.”
By all means try again. But do that after you figure out WHY you failed!
