I only saw the knife that was thrown at me when it was almost hitting me. My scream echoed through the eery silence of the arena. My heart started to slam against my chest. After I realized the damn kid almost killed me, he was pushing me onto a mushroom. I tried my best not to let my fear show but he had the knife pinned to my neck, he was also more muscular and taller. Valentine would be the one coming out alive if we fought.

I closed my eyes to calm my anger down a few notches so I would get myself killed but it sprung back into action when the knife started to rest deeper into my skin; causing little blood to trickle down my neck. I glared up at Valentine -or as I like to call him Vally Wally- and bit on the inside of my cheek as he talked.

Oh really? Did your parents get turned into avoxes? Did you live in the woods, hiding from the Capitol and humanity, for five damn years?

He got closer to my ear and all I wanted to do at that moment was knee him in his crotch. As he whispered in my ear, I saw Omega on the ground a few feet away on the ground-and she didn’t look very happy, confused maybe.

“You want to kill me? How sweet. Leia would love if a piece of her ohana got killed by one of the guys she liked.” I tilted my head on the mushroom, not breaking our eye contact. The mention of Leia would change what he was thinking. I was sure of it.

He pulled away and answered to Omega’s question then slumped onto a mushroom. “Any where we think is most safe.”

I blinked and opened my eyes, returning from Atlantis into the dark again. I wondered why Valentine had done that, pushed me away. Perhaps he did not like hearing the truth. He'd taken one of my knives and was currently threatening Peyton with it. I could tell that just from his tone of voice.

I watched and sighed, not particularly bothered with what was going on. If Peyton got killed right now it wouldn't make much difference but for now we needed her so I was secretly relieved when Valentine left her alone.

"Well, I do not care, so feel free to choose where you would like"

I look at Peyton and glare at her.

“Now Peyton, if someone was going to kill us, they would have killed us by now because we just woke up and I’m sure I didn’t speak as loud as you snore so chill the fuck out” I snapped at her before I felt at my ribs wincing. The morphling was wearing off but the wrap was making the pain bearable, just.

“Omega, I don’t know if you know this, but that was rude. I’m going to choose to ignore it for all of our safety” I got up and saw a white rabbit rushing by with an abnormally large watch and frowned. I really needed to get out of this place before I lost my mind. He was babbling on about an important date and I looked back at Peyton and Omega.

“I think we need to leave this place before we all lose our minds because I’m not sure if that rabbit in front of me is actually talking or if I’m actually crazy”

I started to laugh at Omega’s out break from sleep. She said thing so bluntly and didn’t even care about the consequences.

I returned Valentine’s glare. And responded through clenched teeth. “I don’t snore and I will not chill the fuck out.” A sarcastic smile started to form on my face as I mocked him. “Little Vally Wally’s rib hurt?” I gave him the puppy dog eyes and baby voice but soon decided that it was a bad choice; he was the one holding the electric whip.

A white rabbit bounced close enough into our vision with an enormous pocket watch, rambling words as he hooped around us and got stopped by tall mushrooms. Valentine, Omega, and I shared an curious look.

I nodded at Valentine, we needed to get out of here. It was a strange place.

I quickly rushed to Valentine's side as I saw him hurt. He would hold us back if he was in too much pain and no matter how much I tried to block it out I always had that horrible feeling whenever I saw he was upset or in pain.

"Well, it wasn't rude" I pointed out "It was the truth. I mean, if you look at the facts you'll see that whilst Peyton and I handled Hyacinth without a scratch practically you nearly ended up dying." I was being completely honest and if he couldn't handle it then that was his problem. So far, he had been the one holding us back.

I nodded as the others spoke about the rabbit. I coudn't see anything else really in Atlantis so I made up seeing it.

"What direction?"

When I felt hands shaking me awake, I almost was set into panic and thrashed my hands in the air a few seconds before noticing Omega sitting up and Valentine unwrapping a package. The sky was dark and I remember the night before clearly. The caterpillar never shut up (and I was starting to loose my temper) then the sky lit up with the fallen before I slept. A wave of emotions rode over me, ugly sobs escaped my mouth at Leia and Julius’ pictures. I hated that they were gone so fast and I couldn’t do a think about it. It was my fault basically.

My eyes searched for a glimmer of light any where but there was nothing. I stood up and brushed off my back and legs from the grass we lied on the night before. Valentine giggled with glee at the package, might I add, loudly.

“Shut the hell up! Do you want us to get killed?” I whisper yelled in his direction. Julius and Leia’s death didn’t seem to have as big as an impact but every time I closed my eyes, memories of them or pictures of their corpses played out through my mind.

It was pitch black dark outside and I grimaced. What could I do? I closed my eyes and remembered Atlantis and where I'd placed everything in the mushrooms. It would give me a rough guide of where everything was but by no means would it be perfect. The image in front of me changed as I closed my eyes and I reached out my arm towards where I'd heard Peyton's voice. I tapped her shoulder and marked her position in Atlantis. I did the same with Valentine and I had a rough picture. It was still likely I'd bump into many mushrooms along the way.

"So you have a whip? Good. Maybe you'll be able to help us now" I commented.

I blinked at the caterpillar. He had an attitude for someone-something that was not supposed to talk. The caterpillar smoked through a pipe and exhaled perfect circles. My eyes followed their paths till they faded into the atmosphere.

“Peyton,” My eyebrows knotted together as I narrowed my eyes at him. The anger from Julius and Leia’s death was still fresh in my mind. “Who are you?” The words were mocking to the caterpillar, I kept my eyes on the insect. He spoke very formally, like Omega almost.

I watched carefully as the others spoke to the caterpillar but I was watching too closely to speak. The caterpillar seemed to speak just like me, he didn't play with words and spoke clearly. I quite liked it. I'd never seen something like this before but the others were speaking to it so I decided to give it a try.

"My name is Omega. It's nice to make your acquaintance"

I almost screamed at Omega for telling me to stop talking to them because they were dead. But I knew where that would end up. They were alive, in the air looking down on me.

And it was my fault because they wanted to protect me, if I just fought their killer I would have died instead of them...I wouldn't feel so guilty.

Valentine looked at Leia with a sad frown and obviously in deep thought about their deaths-Omega on the other hand looked at them as if they were dead fish you flush down the toilet.

"I see how much you cared about them," I muttered about Omega before I looked down at the people I love and moved their hair out of their faces. "Don't forget me," the words were whispers at the dead bodies.

When I stood up I saw a huge caterpillar with a long hookah attached to his mouth when he didn't speak.

"Uh, Omega, Valentine...you see the caterpillar too, right?" My mouth was gaping and my eyes stayed on the large insect.

I slipped an arm round Valentine's waist, trying to help support his weight some more. He was seriously injured and yet Peyton was still grieving. I waited for her to finish this time until she spoke.

I looked and indeed, there was a bright, blue caterpillar in front of us. I eyed it before whispering to Valentine.

"That is not natural, therefore, I am unsure of how to react"

My lower lip trembled even more as his death hit me. I moved my thumb on his jar continuously. “You know Julius,” a soft, sad chuckle escaped me. “I don’t get why I ever liked you, but you always seemed to pull me in like a tide. And I love you,”

I moved away from Julius’ corpse over to Leia. My hand brushed her hair out of her face as more tears streamed down my face. “Leia, Leia, Leia, I took you for granted, but I want you to know,” My hand shook wildly as the thought brought more tears to my eyes. “You’re my ohana too, you always will be.” That’s when I broke down more than I thought I could do so.

I stood there and watched as Peyton weeping over the bodies laid on the ground. There was a lot of blood and it seemed they were killed awfully. I internally chuckled, probably not as horrible as Hyacinth's death was. I played with the machete in my right hand and stood their awkwardly.

Was it bad that I didn't care they were dead?

No.

"Peyton. Stop talking to them. They're dead." I said, pointing out the extremely obvious. Why was she upset over their deaths? I had been over Keaka's but that was different. Keaka was more skilled than them and had more potential. These two were collateral damage.

"Now come along, stop being silly and get yourself together. We have Valentine in incredibly bad shape and your petty little tears will do nothing" I commanded.

Even if she did feel sad, I couldn't let her be that way.

Because deep down I was sad too, sad to have lost two allies in such a way. However, I know that all Leia and Julius wanted to do was to keep Peyton safe and the best way to do that was to not let her be as emotional and to make her keep her guard up and be strong. So, instead of crying over their bodies about something I can't change I'll continue on their hopes and wishes for the girl.

Sterling & Hyacinth vs. POVJL Alliance

I hope it all flows, I did my best. 5000+ words, not fun for me. But you all did really well! Read on if you dare… it’s long.

I shrugged and brushed off her concern “It was nothing it’s okay, I’m fine honestly…” I kissed her jaw gently and pushed her hair behind her ear and smiled. “Hyacinth, District Twelve okay, that’s fine we’ll find her for you” I took her hand and sat down on the floor steering clear of the mushrooms, I didn’t recognise them so I didn’t trust them. “How do you feel about the alliance?”

As he kissed my jaw I pulled his head up to kiss me. I needed to feel his lips on mine, I wasn't sure what it was but I craved the feeling.

My jaw was still a little sore but nothing that could really hold me back, nor would I let it. "Let's focus on other things right now. Our safety and stability is more important, we need to work out how this alliance will work.." I commented.

I shrugged at his question. "I can't say I particularly trust anyone except you. Though, I doubt they'd try anything with me. It would be the worst and last decision they made".

I looked back up at him, "What about you?"

I scoffed at her comment about Hercules, hopefully she wouldn’t be too upset when I killed him. I smiled at her and nodded.

“Yeah, he’s fine for now so you don’t need to worry about him” I gently stroked my jawline assessing the bruise slowly forming and frowned.

“Do you know who did this you?”

I let out a little sigh if relief but I could still feel it there. "And you? What happened to you?" I ask and I place my hands on his chest to try and express my concern.

I frowned and poked at my jaw, wincing at the tender skin there. She really got a good kick in there.

"Yes, the girl..Hyacinth, I believe? I think she was from twelve.."

Well, you're a fun-guy || In the Mushrooms || Vega

I was ready to throw whoever jumped on my back before I felt a soft kiss on my cheek and smiled.

“You know you shouldn’t jump up on me like that, I near had a heart attack and threw you off me” I said laughing before turning around hugging her properly kissing her on the forehead.

“I’m okay, I suppose, my chest is bruised thanks to your friend from District 11, but I’m okay. How are about you?”
