Where It Starts

Generation 1: Penelope Harper was just a teen when her life changed forever with an unplanned pregnancy. Her aristocratic parents were scandalized and after the baby, Rosalie Harper, was born, they conspired to take custody of her. Faced with an impossible choice, Penelope bundled up her baby and ran to Newcrest. Generation 2: Rosalie Harper is now a young adult living in her own home with her best friend, Billie Jang. Penelope and her best friend B purchased the whole township of Newcrest and renamed it Harper Valley. Once they had passed, ownership of the townstead was passed on to Rosie. Now, she is on a mission to start Harper Valley's first periodical and make it successful enough to grow with their little township. Generation 3: Nellie and Ida Harper, the twins of Harper Valley, are grown. Ida is struggling with the quiet home she was gifted while her career takes off. Across the property line, Nellie has finally found the peace and isolation she had been craving her whole life. With her agoraphobia ever looming, will the peace be a blessing or a vice? Generation 4: Primrose Harper has baggage. Her father was murdered the day she was born. Her mother, Nellie Harper, will not leave the house while Prim feels suffocated by it's walls. As a teen, she ruined her friendship with her best friend and cousin, Alice Delgato-Harper, leaving her a pariah with half of her extended family. Now a young adult, Prim is hoping moving to the other side of Harper Valley will allow her to run far enough away to escape the skeletons in her closet. Generation 5: Kip Harper grew up knowing he was an unwanted burden on his mother, Prim Harper. After growing up longing for the happy family life he was never given, Kip is determined to create it as an adult. He wants a house full of kids and hopes he won't pass on any of the generational trauma that has plagued the Harpers. Generation 6: Lucy Harper is the only child of her parents, Charlotte and Kip Harper, despite their best efforts at conceiving. While charming to anyone who takes the time to really get to know her, Lucy is stoic almost to a fault. She struggles with expressing herself to people and as a result has taken up painting to say the things she can't seem to verbalize. Now a young adult, she is chasing her childhood dream of having her paintings "go on tour" and pushing the boundaries of what is acceptable on canvas. This is that story. OMG, Hi

Hey there friends.

As you can see my hiatus ended up being several months. I've thought long and hard about The Harper Legacy and have decided to put down the project. Sorry to any who wanted to see the resolution of the story. I know what happens, and I'll hit the highlights for you below. It started feeling more like a chore than a hobby, a clear sign it's time to put the project down. I may do a different project in the future, but for now my writing energy is being focused on the book I want to write.

So, here is how the story would have gone.

Kip and Lottie? Live happily ever after in their old age.

Wyatt and Claire end up married. What looks like a happy power couple turns into Wyatt's nightmare as Claire becomes more and more controlling and demanding of him. They do have a child. Meanwhile Wyatt and Lucy's friendship heals and they become best friends again, upsetting Claire. This is eventually the breaking point for Claire, who gives Wyatt an ultimatum, her or Lucy.

Lucy points out to Wyatt how unhealthy the dynamic is and how neither his parents or Lucy's would ever treat each other the way that Claire treats him. After this, Wyatt breaks it off with Claire and shares custody of their child. Lucy invites him to move in with her while he figures out his life. While they live together, Lucy realizes that she does love Wyatt. Maybe not in the big grand way people describe how love feels, but more of a steadfast, reliable and deep love that grew from knowing who he is completely. She tells him how she feels, he admits he never really stopped loving her and that what they have is enough for him. They end up a couple and have one kid together. Lucy builds an art museum for the valley.

Lucy accepts her step child like they were her own blood. That child grows up to be a muscian, while the child Lucy and Wyatt have grows up to be a comedian, working his grandmother's joke into their routine about their family being more of a wreath now that they're alive.

And the legacy is resolved, ending with whoever Lucy and Wyatt's child would have been. Everyone gets a happy ending and it is all very wholesome.

with the constant uproar over EA’s failure to properly address the game, the updates and the community, it’s clear we need more than scattered threads of frustration.

that’s why we’re opening this up. Opportunity Awaits isn’t just ours, it’s OURS. a living project, a collective push. we’re putting ideas on the table not to say 'do this exactly' but to show that the fanbase already knows how to build the sims we deserve.

While I'm on my temporary hiatus, I've been working on my main project, a book called Thief Games. I joined Critique Circle to get better at writing and to have my work critiqued. My first chapter is up for review this week, if you're interested. It's 1809 words, so it's actually quite short. Think like 3-4 pages.

Zane: When are you officially out of the old place?

Cordy: Next week sometime. Though, everything is already moved out. Doesn't feel like it since there's still so much space to fill here.

Gigi: I'm sure once the buns get here it'll feel smaller. I already miss having you across the street!

Cordy: Me too! Any chance you'll move out here?

Gigi: Probably not. Our little house is so perfect, I don't want to leave it.

Zane: Neither do I. Don't want to move Ariella too much as she grows up if possible.

Cordy: You're always so damn responsible, Zane.

Zane: Don't think that's changing anytime soon.

[Knock at the door]

Cordy: Amina! Eli! Good to see you!

Amina: You too! Where's Raina?

Cordy: [laughs] Ah, news has spread.

Amina: Maybe! First of all, congrats to you for the new house! It looks SO good. This is like a dream of a space.

Eli: Really is, kinda jealous.

Cordy: I'm jealous of myself honestly.

Amina: Ah! And there she is! Congratulations to you BOTH for the babies on the way!!! How are you feeling, Raina?

Raina: Thanks! Mostly normal? Which is kinda the weirdest part. I'm sure that I'll have a different response in 6 months.

Amina: [laughs] Probably! I've made sure that the seats closest to the bathroom in the chapel will be reserved for you two.

Raina: Oh that's super smart. I think my bladder has shrunk three sizes.

Amina: Not gonna lie, I'm hoping that I'll be in your same shoes soon. Wedding first. And maybe not triplets.

Raina: [laughs] Might be a bit much for first time parents.

Amina: Just a bit! But I'm sure with all of the Steeles you'll be able to handle it!

Raina: They are such a strong unit. I'm glad to be a part of it.

Cordy: We're happy to have you.

Cordy: Hey Dad!

Arturo: Hey! What's up, why'd you need me down here?

Cordy: I know it's fast, but we already found the perfect place! It becomes official this weekend, but I've already got the keys. Thought you'd want to see it!

Arutro: Oh excellent! Where is it?

Cordy: This way! It's in walking distance to Raina's work and the store. It's also got enough bedrooms which is the most impressive part. Although, the buns are going to share a room for who knows how long. Still! It's so perfect, I can't believe our luck. I suppose it doesn't have a yard, but do I really need one? No. There's a park just over there. Here it is! It used to be a-

Arturo: A factory, I know. It's been renovated a few times I'm sure.. But this is where Sadie and I lived before we moved to the countryside. Over 40 years ago now.

Cordy: 'An old factory by the waterfront....' I totally forgot, I'm so sorry. Would it be too hard to go inside? Or to visit Mae here? We can pull our offer-

Arturo: Not hard at all. This will be a perfect place for you.

They go inside.

Arturo: [a content sigh] I can feel her presence here.

Cordy: You can?

Arturo: I can. She would love the new windows. Her biggest complaint with this place was how dark it was.

Cordy: Yeah the windows are what sold Raina on it too. She wants more plants.

Arturo: What sold you on it?

Cordy: Might be silly... But the bathrooms are gothy. Black tiles. Old style fixtures. I love it.

Arturo: [chuckles] That's how you know you've gotten older. You're excited about tiles. The kitchen is still in the same place.

Cordy: Is it?

Arturo: Been updated. Not surprising, but yes. It is. I'm so glad you'll make this place your home.

Cordy: Yeah?

Arturo: Yes. It only has good memories for me. And you'll bring new good memories to it. You, Raina, Mae, and the buns.

Cordy: You really can feel Mom here?

Arturo: I can. Her relief at not having to live with her parents anymore. Her freedom. Her... Excitement for the future.

A/N: This scene was inspired by an ask I received from @dandylion240 that said:

“For Ash and Atlas. A random prompt that made me think of them and what could be on their relationship bucket list after getting married, buying a house and having babies. What else could be left? You can write something or just screenshot it. The choice is yours! They do something from their relationship bucket list.”

As usual, I got carried away. All I could think about was the scene in Selvadorada and all the places they wanted to go, and then it got me thinking about how much changed so quickly, and I wondered how they felt about that. Then the dialogue popped in my head, and I had to include it as an official scene in their story.

Transcript below the cut:

Atlas: You know what this reminds me of? Asher: Hm? Atlas: Selvadorada. That day you were drawing by the water, and we were talking about traveling the world.

Asher: If you would’ve told me then that we’d be raising a family in the suburbs a few years later, I never would’ve believed it. Atlas: Me neither.

Asher: Do you have any regrets? Atlas: What do you mean?

Asher: I just worry sometimes that I pushed you into this. We were going to have so many adventures, but now our life revolves around feeding and nap time and diapers. The closest we get to traveling is walking behind the house and seeing how far the range of the baby monitor will let us go.

Atlas: To be fair, the range on that thing is impressive. And with the lake here, it’s not a bad spot to get away to. Asher: You know what I mean. Don’t you ever wonder what our lives would be like if we’d chosen differently? Stayed on the path we were on. Atlas: No. Do you?

Asher: Sometimes. Don’t get me wrong, I love Sadie and Simon so much, and I wouldn’t trade this life for anything. Some days are just hard, y’know. And I wonder where we’d be now if that trip had gone differently. I wonder what we gave up in order to have all this.

Atlas: I don’t see it that way. We didn’t give up anything. We just decided to do this first. When the twins are older, we can take family vacations. And when they eventually move out and the house is too quiet, we can go wherever we want. We’ll still see the world. We just have to raise a couple of humans first.

Asher: So, Batuu with the twins in five, six years then? Atlas: No no no, I didn't say that.

Asher: [laughs] You promised. Don’t think I’ve forgotten. Atlas: Fine. We’ll do it. But we save the tigers in Tomarang for just the two of us, our first trip as empty nesters. Asher: Deal. Atlas: Feel better? Asher: Yes. Thank you.

Atlas: I’m impressed, by the way. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you sit over the water, let alone putting your legs over the edge. Asher: It’s getting easier. My drawing is a little shaky, but I’m not panicking. Atlas: That’s good. Asher: Yeah, well, now that I’m a dad, and we have a fucking lake in the backyard, I can’t risk freezing up if one of them needs me, y’know. So, exposure therapy it is.

I’ll start posting my new short story Blueberry Milk Tea on Monday! It’s a prequel to my main story The Infected, set four years before the current events, and it will focus on how Alexander and Tao eventually became family.

The editing style and overall vibe will be quite different from The Infected. I’m a sucker for hurt/comfort, but when it comes to Tao, I just want to see him living his best life. So expect plenty of wholesomeness, slice-of-life moments, and all-around happy feelings!

Gigi: I still can't believe it! Three! Have you thought of any names?

Cordy: [laughs] Not even a little. We didn't name Mae until she was born. Might be the same for the Buns.

Gigi: The Buns?

Cordy: It's what we're calling them for now. Buns in Oven. The Buns.

Gigi: Adorable! Awh, you'll have to move before they get here, huh?

Cordy: [sighs] When it was just gonna be one we were going to wait until they were a bit older. But there's no way our house could manage all of us. Which sucks. I love it.

Gigi: It's very you.

Cordy: It is… But we'll make the next one just as 'us'. Get Mae to contribute too.

Gigi: That'll be very fun. Got any idea where you'll move?

Cordy: Probably Windenburg. We only moved here because of you guys. But being closer to Raina's vet and the store would be ideal.

Gigi: It would. We'll happily come and visit the you and the buns anytime.

Cordy: You better!

Axel: Wow! You two are tattoo artists in the making! Thanks s'much!!!

Mae: [giggling] More!

Axel: Actually kiddo I needta get goin'.

Gigi: You do? Not to work, right?

Axel: Nah not for that. I needta catch the last train into the city. My friends there are so busy with school work neither of 'em had any Winterfest plans. Gonna bring the holiday joy to them!

Gigi: You're such a sweetheart. Do you want anything to eat before you go?

Axel: Nah, thanks Gigi. I'll see y'guys later! Ariella, Mae, demand Zane's arm next!

Ariella: Daddy! Arm!

Zane: [laughs] Yes ma'am.

Gigi: Can I get you anything, Raina?

Raina: Oh no, I'm good.

Cordy: Even with triplets, it's been a walk in the park for her.

Raina: So far, it won't last forever I'm sure.

Gigi: Is that something to do with magic stuff?

Raina: Little bit. It should have been easier on Cordy.

Cordy: But I had to go and be anemic.

Gigi: Oh you heard back on that?

Cordy: Yup. I have some diet changes to make and daily vitamins to take. A follow-up appointment in a few months too. I'm going to need full strength to handle The Buns.

Raina: Truly.

Summer Vacation

As they did whenever they had a chance, The Harpers took the opportunity to take a long weekend in San Sequoia. Lucy travelled a lot for her job consulting at different art museums leaving her little time to spend time with her parents. It was nice to slow down and talk to them.

"How's the bar, Dad?" she asked.

"Oh it's fine," Kip said. "I take the day shift most days. It's getting hard to keep up with the crew that comes in at night."

"He just hired this wonderful little protege, though," Lottie said. "Oh, Lucy, she's so talented, you should go by sometime with your friends."

"I really should, I haven't been to The Factory Floor in so long."

"How's your art doing, Goosey?" Kip asked. "How's your next project coming?"

Lucy sighed and stabbed her food with slight irritation. "I'm not giving it the time I should I have to admit. I've been so busy consulting that I've been too tired to try."

"That's not good. You're so talented, don't let it go to waste."

"I won't, I just need.....inspiration. I'm looking. I'm sure it's out there. I just need to figure out what I want to say."

"Communicating by canvas," Lottie mused.

"Exactly, Mama."

"Speaking of communicating, can I say how nice it is to see you and Wyatt speaking again?!"

"It is nice. I've missed him. He seems more like the friend I lost than the boy that he was."

"Vasily and Mei did a good job course correcting him," Kip added. "He's quite the gentleman these days."

"I'm not so sure about his girlfriend, though," Lottie said.

"Mama, don't start. Please. Wyatt is my friend, he's happy, and I'm still not interested in anyone."

"Ever? I'm just trying to understand, Lucy. We've never really talked about it."

"It's like...I wouldn't mind spending my life with someone, I suppose, but I would have to really, truly like the person for everything they are, good and bad. They would have to be my perfect friend. I wouldn't be opposed to trying physically romantic things with that person, but I'm never going to be a person with those urges. I could build a life with that person, I think, but I'm not looking for it. It's more that if it happens, it happens. I'm just living my life."

"Do you think that maybe Wyatt-"

Cold Brew Confessions 8/12/2025

Hello, my friends!

There will be a post tomorrow, and then I'm taking a bit of a hiatus, probably through August. I'll let you know if I'm back before then.

I plan on remaining here, though. I'll be reblogging and liking and commenting. I'm just feeling a bit of a creative fry right now and I need a minute to fall in love with the story again. I've honestly been struggling for months and just pushing through the creative fog.

I need a recharge. So I'll be around, but the Harper Legacy is on a temporary pause. Since I'm struggling with ideas and what the story is going to look like, feel free to tell me what you would secretly wish for in your heart of hearts. It might be exactly what I needed to hear and you might get your wish. Just sayin.
