Lin-Manuel Miranda is a legend, and he’s absolutely right.

And I really feel like there are parts of fandom that don’t get or don’t believe this, and I think that’s troubling.  I’ve seen arguments that people shouldn’t have dark fantasies, or that bad impulses in themselves make a bad person.  I’ve seen so much shaming over thoughts.

And if you get to a point where it’s bad to have dark thoughts and it’s bad to wonder what something would be like and it’s bad to put yourself in the shoes of anyone who isn’t “pure”, if fiction is no longer a realm where you can confront and explore, but an ongoing test of moral purity… well, maybe not everyone’s brain works like mine, but I feel like that takes away something incredibly important to being human.

Fiction is a safe place to explore whatever fucked up or dark desire that you have. You can write the most vile and fucked up shit in fiction and it be absolutely nothing you desire in real life. You can write about a serial killer who gets away with it. You can write about someone who goes on moral crusades to purge the world of all evils and still be the protagonist. You can write anything in fiction because that’s what it is meant for. 

It isn’t meant to be a social commentary unless you create it to be. 

It isn’t meant to be educational unless you create it to be. 

Sometimes a story can be just that, a story. Entertainment. Nothing more, nothing less. 

Not everything has to be deep, or have meaning, etc. unless the creator wants it to be and a lot of the purity types end up forcing something to have deep meaning or social commentary where it isn’t meant to.  Is this inherently bad? No, but these people don’t just say “But this is my interpretation of it.” they go as far as trying to force that interpretation onto everyone else, including the creator, as a means of saying “See? It means that they promote/condone xyz so they’re bad and shitty people who should spend the rest of their life in jail with/are the same as people who’ve actually committed acts of violence against other people.”

Chunky Big Shoes !! Shoes are one of my absolute favorite things to draw so I’m glad you like how I draw them! these are the only real tips I have lmao. I always just make a vague shape (sorta,,,looks like a cartoon steak or smthn) and then draw the shoes.

I always want more Jewish representation but I want good Jewish representation, so this is my attempt to make a guide to making a Jewish character. What are my credentials? I’m Jewish and have been my whole life. Obligatory disclaimer that this is by no means comprehensive, I don’t know everything, all Jews are different, and this is based on my experiences as an American Jew so I have no idea, what, if any, of this applies to non-American Jews.

His name is Jacob Blake. He was unarmed, trying to break up a fight. He was tasered and shot 7 times while trying to get into a car. His kids were watching.

This happened on 8/23. Havent found too many posts on tumblr about it yet. Police tear gassed protestors who gathered outside the police station. I'll keep an eye out for a gofundme/petition.

In the article, there are tips and info you must read (like advice from Milwaukee Freedom Fund, general resources, requesting bail help from Milwaukee Freedom Fund, if you recieve a curfew ticket reach out to ACLU—[email protected]).

4. Support BLM

In this section, the author reccommends community organizations. Check them out.

5. Don’t share disturbing footage

Share resources. The author writes, “While footage of Blake being shot by a police officer may prove valuable for prosecuting the officer involved, it is far more useful at this stage to share resources than traumatic video of the incident.”

Right now, I cannot find a gofundme campaign for Jacob Blake and his family, but if there is one that is directly connected to his family, please let me know.

If you like animated fairy tales, then please consider supporting the korean movie “Red Shoes And The Seven Dwarfs” in any way you can.

People are sleeping on this despite the Disney/Dreamworks levels of animation, compelling characters, funny and silly humour, great action, and a heartwarming moral. Don’t trust the marketing! The worst thing you could do would be to judge it before giving it a chance.

Just gonna reblog this again. The marketing was super botched (here’s an explanation of why it was so different from the actual movie) and completely misrepresented the movie’s message.

The actual movie is all about body positivity, loving yourself and others for who you/they are, liking the body you are in, learning to let go of preconceived notions based around society’s standards of beauty, and treating everyone with love and kindness regardless of outward appearances (including yourself).

Also Snow White LIKES HERSELF from the very beginning and has no desire to change (she is also referred to as beautiful a few times in her real body). She doesn’t want to wear the magic shoes and be a typical-looking princess, she only does it because she has to in order to find her missing father. She doesn’t like what she turns into. It’s the male love interest that has the desire to change how he looks, and he is the one who has to learn to love himself and others for things besides only physical appearance. He learns that yes, looks are one of the things that make you ‘you’, but you are also made up of your personality and actions, and you have to love and accept the whole package. The most beautiful people in the world are the people you love (including yourself).

TLDR; it’s really sweet and wholesome, please support it if you can.
