Continued Story (Prologue)
Author’s note: Finally! Here’s the story that takes place after the third ending and hopefully, this will keep the Endless Summer fandom alive. I’m still mourning, to be honest. Oh, and I changed some of the stuff from the preview to fit the event of ES. Hope you enjoy! 🌺
Summary: Five years have gone by and everyone can’t stop thinking about the most important person in their group. What they do not expect, however, is that they are about to encounter someone who is most likely to bring everyone to the shock.
I didn’t get very much time with all of you, but our memories will last forever, I can promise you that. Although our summer is over, another will come soon. When it does, imagine me there with you…spending our days on the beach…watching every sunset melt into the sea…and gazing at stars that fill our hearts with wonder…because with you is exactly where I will be.
Five years have gone by since they left the island. The world has been saved, Rourke was arrested for his crimes, and everyone else had moved on by returning to their own lives. For a certain pilot, it’s a lot easier said than done.
After couple years of residing in Costa Rica and having his name cleared, Jake was able to return to the state and reunited with his family. They were all, particularly his mother and his sister, ecstatic to see him again. He even kept touch with his friends, though the closest one would Estela since she’s the one who decided to visit him in Costa Rica to keep him sane. Along with that, he decided to be an airline pilot, which seems like a good choice for him since he chose to live in more peaceful, quiet life now.
But no matter what he does and where he goes, Jake couldn’t stop thinking about her. Even after five years, he really misses Yurika. Everyone does. She was the reason why they are here outside of La Huerta right now. The reason the world is saved. The reason their bonds are stronger than ever and looking after each other. But she has to pay the price to make that happened.
She’s definitely the best thing that happened in Jake’s life. He could never forget the times he had with that little adventurer and the moments they had together are bittersweet. They promised to be together for eternity at the handfasting ceremony, but even things are never meant to be. Yurika already knew that. That’s why she made that choice for all her friends…especially for Jake. He now knew why she did it, but he still feels empty with her gone. He already lost Mike five years ago. Now he lost her.
He always wondered why everyone he cares about is taken away from him.
His mind is still in that bittersweet thought while wandering around the airport to the point where he did not realize a woman walking right towards him, causing him to accidentally bumped into her, knocking off her white cap off her head, and making her dropped her bag with all her belongings scattered to the ground.
“Shit. Sorry about that.”
He bend down to pick up the scattered items, which mostly consists of folders and other stuff, he accidentally made the young woman dropped as the latter scrambled to do the same. Jake was about hand her stuff back to her, only for him to froze immediately as if time stood still.
At first, he thought that it was impossible. But the more he looked, the more he realized how much the woman’s face looks exactly like hers. The blonde hair. Her slightly tanned skin. And those eyes, in a dark shade of green as a forest…those eyes were hard for him to miss.
He might as well be kneeling down there like an idiot if it weren’t for the fact that the young woman had suddenly spoken out, interrupting his thoughts.
“Um…Thanks, sir. I-I can take it from here,” she said rather awkwardly as she took some of her personal items from his hands, got up, pulled her white cap back on, and walked passed by him. It was only then that Jake shook his head and immediately got up.
Get a grip, Mckenzie. It’s not her! he thought to himself, She’s already gone a long time ago.
The pilot had decided head straight back to the airport lounge to meet up with gang and take them straight back to the island for the anniversary. Though, he did not expect another woman’s voice behind him to call out a familiar name.
