Been meaning to make a lil post like this for a long while since there's a really pervasive problem throughout this fandom with whitewashing/lightening the skintones of our poc characters- this is especially prevalent with Hank, who is so rarely drawn with an accurate skintone- but all 4 of them have been drawn with much lighter skin at some point of another, so I've used the color picking tool to make a lil handy dandy reference sheet :) I think some amount of all the lightening/whitewashing has been unintentional: the color-grading in the movie is often very cold/gray and washes the poc boys out, so if you use screencaps from those scenes as a reference you can end up giving characters a lighter looking & more desaturated complexion that doesn't match with their actual skintone. I'm hoping having this to reference will help folks avoid that! Also I know a lot of ppl have their own Art Baker redesigns and don't use Tut for reference, however Art being a dark-skinned black man is important so I think it's still worth keeping his skin tone in mind- I've seen some Art redesigns that have him as lighter skinned and that's a choice that is ultimately racist and based in colorism.
