got into grad school but no one cares. not even me. and my bf would rather play video games and i don't blame him either. except i do. i hate them all for not loving me enough. they have to love me best of all to balance out all i hate i feel towards myself.

Bonsai

All those elbows

bent by pebbles

polished by ancient oceans

by the by

waiting

for him to clip the undergrowth. 

The scraggly bits, 

shameful as toehairs 

on a woman. 

Perhaps

he will even 

put a thimble's worth of moss

thick and warm

against my trunk. 

The little pagoda is heavier

than it looks

and my roots deeper. 

Soon I will need a new pot. 

I'm afraid to move. 

My needles fall, 

the pebbles swing

from my arms, 

my green carpet

takes weeks to grow back.

He is not coming. 

The wires tighten. 

my legs

caress the wet 

terracotta,

a field of sporophytes 

grow

and then wilt

into a rusty mound

of pubic curls. 

My spindly arms 

thicken

and 

grow

weightless

towards the sky. 

I am half wild. 

He is not coming. 

The pagoda is silent. 

The moss is the silent. 

I am alone. 

He is not coming.

I Am a Submarine

There is a bigness that

grips me in the night. 

i'm never between.

wholly devoured by my

devouring mind.

arms eating razorblades. 

lips melting tulips. 

womb warming 

invertebrate mussels.

I am a glutton or a saint, 

and your full-fruit

mouth breathes 

legions of gray. 

down here the sun looks milky

and your body wiggles and breaks. 

down here my mass is weightless,

my breath of scentless crystalline bubbles 

rush upwards. 

I am a submarine.
