Seriously, thank @elisial for this or it would’ve never been existed. It’s not like i didn’t wanna draw it, more like “ugh i haven’t been drawing for 7 months and it’s gonna suck so hard i’m gonna hate it” but she insisted and threatened me until i started painting.

The Shadowhunters all know about love between parabatai being forbidden, and many know more–about there being terrible consequences to the parabatai curse. Once Julian and Emma turn into huge angelic monsters, the writing’s on the wall: they must be in love, and the worst possible consequence is ensuing before everyone’s eyes. They all know… but with the danger of Emma and Julian killing and dying in agony both present and then concluded, it’s a much less fraught issue. It’s a question of perspective: if they’d found out Julian and Emma were into each other in Lady Midnight, BIG NEWS! (Mark certainly reacts to it that way in LoS when he is told, as does Cristina in LM.) Once the Blackthorns have been through the death of a sibling, been intimately involved with another war, been shattered and terrified for each other, then with the big consequences already over and the knowledge that Julian and Emma are safe and happy… then they wouldn’t really need an extended explanation. (Also, just from a writing perspective, this is one of those things that seems like it would be fun to read, but in reality, in the words of William Goldman, “flattens out like toothpaste on the page.”) A whole string of people finding out a secret that the reader already knows, when we’ve already seen several responses to the secret being discovered (Cristina, Robert, Magnus, Mark) is less interesting in real reality than the imagined reality of what it would be like.

Plus, people usually don’t seize couples and say “EXPLAIN YOURSELVES!” Is, say, Dru ever going to ask “How did you realize you loved each other”’ Maybe, and they’ll answer her. Probably they won’t say “desperate life-affirming sex on the seashore…” Much like we don’t know exactly how the Lightwoods reacted to Jace and Clary being officially together, we can still see that everyone’s attitude is “Thank the Angel most of us lived! And if that makes them happy, great stuff.”

Emma was on the ground, somehow, the front of her gear wet with blood. Zara knelt over her—it seemed as if they were struggling.

Julian was already running, pushing past the pain, every stride a mile, every breath an hour. All that mattered was getting to Emma.

As he got closer, he saw that Zara was crouched beside Emma, tryingto wrest Cortana from her red-streaked hand, but Emma’s grip was too fierce. Her throat, her hair, were wet with blood, but her fingers on Cortana’s hilt were unyielding.

Zara glanced up and saw Julian. He must have looked like death in human form.
