How about Lucian and Valentine doomed parabatai? Let’s address that because I feel like we forget about them when Luke is the definition of angst.

Jem and Will doomed parabatai this. Emma and Julian doomed parabatai that.
How about Lucian and Valentine doomed parabatai? Let’s address that because I feel like we forget about them when Luke is the definition of angst.
Who the Wolf Loves in Better in Black changed lives. Mine specifically.
Someone better versed in the differences between American Victorian society and English Victorian society give me some behaviors or quirks Tessa would’ve had/done that would have the London Institute people going ‘she’s so American’ (with affection of course). It’s too easy to forget that she grew up in a different culture and Cassie Clare and we as a fandom don’t play up enough her Americaness enough
Bonus points for differences that she could’ve passed on to her kids. I like to imagine there are certain things James and Lucie learned from their mother that had people going ‘you are for sure your mother’s child. What you just did was so American. She’s so American.’
Cassie Clare I am in your walls. Characters?! Plural?!
Emma Carstairs learning the violin headcannons:
Jem is her teacher and when her and Julian are staying at Blackthorn Manor she meets up with him for lessons and when she’s back in LA she has Kit help him video chat her
She does it both to honor her father and help her process her grief
She’s a very dedicated student and takes her lessons with Jem very seriously and practices diligently
She’s very good but she downplays her talent with the violin even more than she ever downplayed her talent as a Shadowhunter
Playing the violin makes her really feel like a Carstairs in the same way that Cortana does and it also makes her feel vulnerable in a weird way
She doesn’t let Julian listen to her play for a long time always citing that she ‘isn’t good enough yet’ (Julian knows it’s in her blood and can’t imagine her being bad at it but doesn’t push her)
When she finally does play for him the first time he’s enchanted and awestruck and she sounds amazing but also it just makes her come alive and glow almost the same way she does while wielding Cortana
He insists that she should practice while he paints and it sort of becomes a nightly routine for them
He also finds it oddly attractive and portraits of her holding/playing the violin become almost as frequent as ones of her wielding Cortana
Eventually she’s persuaded to occasionally do duets with Jace, her playing violin and him playing piano, on the rare occasion everyone gets together
My Headcannon is that when Blackstairs are spending time at Blackthorn manor, Emma makes an effort to visit Jem and Tessa and Kit and Mina (Julian does too but he also can sense that it’s important for her to get to know them independently as an individual rather than as a set with him)
She starts to learn violin with Jem as her teacher and she has Tessa tell her all about the Carstairs family and her ancestors over the years. She is the older sister Kit never had and he is the younger brother she never had and their sibling banter is legendary. She takes being a role model to Mina and him very seriously.
While she will always love the Blackthorns and they will always be her family and while no one could fill the hole her parents left she does feel a unique peace and happiness at feeling like she has a little family that’s just as Carstairs as she is.
Julian Blackthorn in Lady Midnight: *literally vibrating with suppressed yearning and love for Emma 24/7, willing to die and kill for her, imagining that they’re married and his siblings are their kids along with other atrociously down bad behaviors*
Emma Carstairs in Lady Midnight: omg he’s upset with me for putting him and his siblings in danger with my investigation and being a bad parabatai also I’ve somehow deluded myself into thinking he doesn’t consider me a real part of the family
It’s the Herondale-Carstairs of it all
We don’t talk enough about Luke and Jocelyn like Lucian Graymark 100% went to the Cassie Clare school of yearning men.
Was just skimming through Lady Midnight and absolutely no one is doing yearning like Julian Blackthorn
I was reminded about Stephen Herondale’s story and how he fell in love with Amatis Graymark and married her only to divorce her and remarry some 18 year old and have a kid with her at Valentine’s behest because of Luke
And all I can think about is how Will and James are ROLLING over in their graves because they would sooner kill themselves or become mundanes than sacrifice what they had with Tessa and Cordelia. Like no person no matter how influential or popular is convincing them to cut ties with their wives much less marry someone else.
“So American” by Olivia Rodrigo but make it Will and Tessa Herondale.
Will and Tessa moments in COI
Tessa was smiling up at Will as she tucked her hands into fur-lined gloves; he bent to brush her hair from her forehead.
Tessa smiled indulgently, as if Will had asked for a second helping of cake. "Oh, go ahead."
Will's blue gaze would travel over his wife - tracing every line of her as if he were memorizing her all over again - and then his children, and a look of happiness that was sharp and gentle at the same time would come over his face.
"Technically, darling, being present during interrogation is his job," said Will.
"Will, dear, I'm going to check with Gabriel and Cecily."
She smiled affectionately at Will and gave Thomas an encouraging look before letting herself out of the Sanctuary.
"You", he said. "Did you know, you grow more beautiful every day?"
"And yet," said Will, "you continue to accrue radiance."
When she tilted her head up and brushed his lips with hers, he cupped her face in his hands. So many years, he thought, and each kiss was new as the break of day.

“When Emma Falls in Love” (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault) is actually about Emma Carstairs
POV: Your bestie is finally reading chot a whole month and a half after release and sending you reactions so now you get to relive all the pain 🥲
The things I would give. The crimes I would commit. For the shadowhunters (specifically TID) to get the Shadow and Bone treatment level of adaptations?
