You know, this album was an album that I put out—I wrote it at like 21 and 22, mostly 22–and the album was really important for my music because I was so curious about exploring different genres. I had come up in country music, which I love so much, but I was so curious about trying new things, and trying new sounds. So I started working with tons of different people and learned so much as a songwriter. At the same time, it was a cataclysmic album because it was a pivotal time in my life as a young woman. I was experiencing heartbreak for the first time in an adult way. So if we’re going to be going through the Red album, and touching on the fact that you guys were the ones who said, ‘Yes, we love it when you evolve musically, and yes, we’ve felt the same way you feel right now,’—by validating those things, you got me through a pretty wild time in my life.
