Hello. ^^ What's your opinion about the lawsuit nhent lost recently, do you think it'll affect ukiss future promotions?
Hi anon dear (*´∀`)ノI’m not sure why you’re asking me this question since I’m no authority on NHM/U-Kiss, but I’ll give you my opinion~
In terms of Japanese promotions, I think it won’t affect them at all since Avex handles their music distribution over there. But for Korean promotions…I think these results just add to the many incentives NHM has to focus more on the Japanese market. I think NHM knows international/Korean fans want them to promote in Korea, but economically speaking, it’s much better for them to release Japanese albums where they can actually make a profit instead of losing money.
Also, I’m not saying it’s Laboum’s fault or anything but Laboum’s albums were also part of the contract. I’m not sure how much Nega pays for their album production (or even at all), but the costs to make their albums must be around the same as U-Kiss’ albums and judging from Wikipedia, their debut album sales were around 10-12K less than U-Kiss’ latest albums. So I think U-Kiss was expected to make up for Laboum’s sales and probably made more than the <60% from the combined sales.
In any case, it’s not like U-Kiss are at risk of disbanding because of this. Kana (our amazing subbing team leader and a long-time Kissme) assured me that the amount NHM needs to pay back is manageable (considering how much they earn from Japan). It might be that U-Kiss will promote less in Korea from now on, but there’s no reason we should worry about what will happen to them as a group - u -
