“We need more women in (insert!)”
“More women need to (insert!)”
“Too many women are in (insert!)”
But did y'all stop to ask what the women wanted? What if they like what they’re in? What if they don’t like what they’re not in? What if they don’t want to do that thing?
Let women choose what they want to fuckin do
hhhhghg I don’t watch the sportsball hgghg everyone pay attention to me
Only Tumblr could take a shitpost I made about hating rotations and turn it into a weeks long discussion about how I
- needed to stop lying
- was clearly in the wrong field
- didn't care about patients enough (?)
- was the reason doctors killed themselves (?)
- needed therapy
- was just a negative person
- was being spiteful
So I'm taking a break from tumblr. I'm tired of getting messages about how I clearly wasn't cut out for medicine and how patients need to be protected from me.
Stay classy medblr ✌🏻
Saudi women have launched an unprecedented social media campaign to challenge the country’s male guardianship system.

My favorite thing about rotations is how they change the rules and expectations all the time so you never know what you’re going to get yelled at for and there’s no way to prepare for it. It’s like getting to watch a horror movie but it’s your life and you hate horror movies. I saw a med student throw his stuff on the table saying “I am so fucking stupid. I am so stupid. I hate myself. I can’t do this” on Friday and it was like he was speaking for every one of us. I am so tired.
Neuro: a rotation
I spent 71 hours in on rotation last week.
And Friday we presented for our course director and the rest of the class and he then shouted all the things we did wrong.
Ex: “THIS IS BULLSHIT! YOU’RE PRESENTING ME BULLSHIT!”
Usually I can only tell when I’m nervous but I could see grown men’s hands shaking and voices quavering.
I had a line of nail crescents pressed into my palm by the time my review was done haha

LPT: disagreeing with someone’s opinion doesn’t make that opinion untrue. Opinions can’t be true/false. They’re just opinions
“Aw man I wish you could like go on ~platonic dates~ with friends and like sleep in the same bed as your friend and cudddle with your friends and have someone that you don’t just hang out in groups with but like, have long deep conversations and share secrets”
I don’t know what the fuck happened to you guys younger than me in your formative years but literally everyyyything you’re describing is something that was included in the concept of ‘best friends’ as it was repeatedly presented to me as a child and teen.
SOmething happened along the way that got so many people thinking that ‘friend’ is ‘anyone and everyone you repeatedly have ‘friendly’ contact with’ and that’s NOT TRUE.
We need to seriously bring back the word ‘acquaintance’. You need to familiarize yourself with it.
Because all of you complaining about having friend groups full of people who talk shit about you or exclude you? You don’t have friends, those are acquaintances.
Those ‘friends’ who don’t actually know much about you and aren’t that concerned about you? Acquaintances.
Those ‘friends’ you know who wouldn’t go one on one with you shopping, to lunch, to the movies? Acquaintances.
You are acquainted. You know each other. You are friendly towards each other. But that’s it. You’re not friends.
Somewhere along the way the term ‘friend’ became ‘anyone you know and talk to in a positive manner’ and that’s fine but in that case we ALSO need to re-legitimize the term best friend.
Because to a one, every post whining about ‘platonic mates’ and pining for ‘platonic dates’ is literally just someone wishing they had a best friend.
All of them.

I love that our school talks about their student counseling services all the time and how it’s here for us...and makes their hours 9-5, M-F.
I work Monday through Saturday, 5:30-5:30. Except for when I’m on call. Then it’s later. Scheduled by the school.
Fuck. This. Shit.
You don’t have to pretend to be there for us, just own up to it.
Honestly one of my biggest pet peeves is the casual to overt shaming of blue collar work in order to push expensive four year degrees. “You have to go to college! You don’t want to be a garbage man, do you?”
Why the hell not? Sanitation workers make bank. Even a job like McDonald’s can pay off if you make yourself valuable to the company. My friend is a manager and she makes very good money. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with pursuing a trade that doesn’t require a degree. Degrees might’ve been incredibly valuable 40 years ago when they were relatively rare, but now an employer can find 100 bachelors of arts in English in three seconds. It’s just not worth going $100,000 into debt for. I have nothing against higher education. I plan to go back to school myself. But I despise this lie being fed to young people that college is the only way to be successful.
^^ absolutely agree. There is a value in taking classes at college or getting a certificate (I have a certificate in Graphic Design), but that doesn’t mean I don’t see the value in blue collar work. Hell, I’d argue that blue collar work, overall, is more valuable to society than most college degrees: garbage collectors that make your streets clean > philosophy and english majors who ended up at Starbucks.
Not to mention sanitation workers can make upwards of $80,000. That’s not only more than I make as a teacher, it’s more than I would make if I had been teaching for 25 years. At least in my state the cap for teacher pay is around $50,000.
