Hey guys!!!!!!! I just wanted to say that i’m still alive and I have forgotten you!!! My life has been kind of weird lately haha (mostly in a good way!!) but I really, really miss you guys and our rps and I’m still here!! I was planning on catching up on comments, etc. this weekend but I think I’m getting sick :/

I know we have all been busy and, as always, there’s no rush! This is just an rp I’ve wanted to do for a long time and I just got back from the ocean where I was very inspired and yeah, anyway, here it is!

What on earth is going on?
Great question! Short answer … I have no idea!!! ;DD But okay so like most RPs, I get ideas for the characters and maybe some plots and just let us go from there, but this one needed something else so that we could have more interactions between the pirates and everyone else … so enter the cursed medallion which helps to tie them both in, nicely. (Before you ask, YES, I have ripped off Pirates of the Caribbean a lot in this RP just go with it.) As a result, the town is frequently being attacked by the pirates, which gives us opportunity for interactions/kidnappings, etc. etc.
Where does this take place?
Port Royal, Jamaica (I’m that unoriginal).
What is so special about the medallion?
It is said that the medallion will turn whatever it touches into gold.
Is the medallion real? Or is it just a myth?
The medallion is real!! (And Henry Pierce has managed to find it, but no one knows it has been found.)
Do they pirates think the medallion is at Port Royal?
No, actually they are all searching for the map that shows the location of the medallion.
So who has the map?
Okay, so Ursula Varly was once a pirate and she and her husband had located the map, but once it was discovered that they were in possession of it, their crew meant to kill the Varlys and take the map, and therefore the medallion, for themselves. The Varlys escaped to Port Royal but it was there that Ursula’s husband was captured and executed for piracy. When he was on the run, he lost the map which was later discovered by Roger Tarleton. The map was secured inside of a compass which Roger thought Cecily Greville might enjoy so he gave it to her. Neither of them know what is inside the compass nor how dangerous it would be for Cecily and her family if it was ever discovered that she has it!!
Is there any downside to this medallion?
Of course!! First of all, it is dangerous. If you pick it up with your bare hands, you will turn to gold. It is kept on a chain in a golden box and so you want to only touch the chain, not the medallion itself. It considers itself the property of whoever removed it from the cave where it belongs. Once removed, it will only work for its owner. Of course, there is a price. Once a year, the owner must bring a human sacrifice to the mouth of the Kraken (otherwise the Kraken will kill the owner). If they owner can try to avoid this fate by staying on land, but they are still cursed and, instead, they will slowly die from the black mark which is honestly a worse death than being eaten by a Kraken. They can transfer ownership once it has been returned to The Cave but they will still owe a life debt to the Kraken.
Can I change portrayals?
Absolutely!! This is one of the few RPs where I don’t have any more characters in the works, so any portrayal that is somewhat period appropriate is fine with me!!

her friend, william atwood, once asked her to marry him at the request of his parents and although she knew that they could be happy, she also knew that neither of them loved each other in that way and so jane declined
was also asked by nicholas murray years ago but she turned him down flat as she doesn’t even like him tbh
spent a lot of time visiting the grevilles with anna and #whoops accidently fell in love with thomas???
will NEVER say anything to ANYONE about it ever because she knows that thomas and anna love each other
has secretly been grieving him since she’s pretty sure he’s dead at this point
while she knows william atwood is doing his best to stop the pirate raids on their town and see to it that sybil greville is returned home, jane thinks more can be done about it!!!
she, anna, and cassandra are using what funds they can to support the rescue mission!!!

their families have always been close and he’s known her all his life!!!
their parents always wanted to unite the two families, but with william and isabella, not william and elinor
which is how william ended up married to the sister of the woman he loved
tries to be a good husband and cares for isabella a great deal!!!
but he doesn’t think he will ever love her
knows she’s unhappy with him, too, but he’s determined to make things work!!!
william is nothing if not a fake it until you make it kind of dude
cassandra and anna are the only people besides elinor who can make him smile (congrats on them tbh)
william is SUPER stressed out now with the situation with the pirates raiding his town every five minutes and will nOT stop until he’s put an end to it once and for all!!!!

always wears the latest fashions!!!! tbh inviting her to a party jUSt to see what she will wear is 100% happened on multiple occasions
so enjoyed the single life when she had 1000 men vying for her attentions and her hand constantly!!!!
loved the thrill of being chased and tbh never had any problem w/ stringing several men along at once
married william atwood because her father wanted it - also loved the idea of being married to the governor
has always loved fined things, too, and his fortune combined with her own would be no small thing
but they’ve been married for two years now and looking back she’s not sure why she said yes
tbh just so bored with her life married to william now??
knows he loves her and he’s trying but ... she feels nothing romantically for him and her life feels so meaningless

so there’s a lot of competition there and tbh isabella would love nothing more than to help trick him into marrying her aunt
the one person isabella loves wholly and completely is elinor ... DO NOT MESS WITH HER!!!

cassandra was supposed to marry nicholas murray but during their courtship she fell in love with john blackwood instead!!!
nicholas was very gracious and stepped aside once he saw how much they cared for each other
cassandra knew her father would not approve and was not surprised when, after john asked, he forbid the match
that did little to deter cassandra, who was determined to marry john even if they would live their lives on the streets
when mr. murray heard that cassandra’s father would not consent to the match, he bestowed half of his fortune upon john - this would have solved everything had not nicholas been overcome with jealousy and framed john for theft
cassandra believed john’s innocence and was still going to elope with him
the night they had settled upon, however, cassandra could not get away and she sent her maid (who she trusted above all else) to tell him they would meet the night after
what cassandra didn’t know, was that her maid ever went to see him and that john concluded that she had changed her mind
when john did not meet her, she feared the worst!!!
was convinced something terrible must have happened to him!!!!
did everything she could to find out what had happened and heard nothing for years until his wanted poster began to surface
rumors reached her of all of the terrible things he had done
at first she didn’t believe them, but nicholas murray confessed to her that he had seen signs that john was not who they had all once believed him to be
for a long time, cassandra refused to marry anyone
only wanted to marry for love and was determined not to accept anything less
however, she’s not sure she will ever trust anyone enough to love them - after having loved john so fiercely only to be so gravely mistaken about his character
her father had always wanted her to marry nicholas murray and as she’s no longer certain it is even possible for her to find love in a marriage, she finally accepted his hand to please her father
not especially trusting anymore!!!
