mushroom appreciation post
Was rifling through old journey entries when I stumbled upon this. I have the vaguest memory of this dream, and was struck with the need to explore it via drawing. I've been stuck in a creative rut lately, so was nice to explore this. Wonder what the dream could have all been about?

January 25, 2021
I had the most amazing dream/nightmare last night and I want to write it or something but I can't figure out whether or not it's just me thieving content from recent reads...
In it, I and my people were fighting for a crown. I seemed to be the youngest contender for the crown as there were others there, larger and older.
And we were literally fighting for it. The setting was...odd. Not at all related to the content. The ruler's crown was beautiful - gold, intricate, shiny and sparkly.
There were other crowns as well, and in the dream I seemed to understand they were for the white knight (the one who would fight for me) and the black knight (the one who would defend me).
The fight for the crown was epic and fraught (I woke up with an adrenaline rush). A men kept trying to beat me there and trying to shoot me with arrows as I got closer.
But finally I reached the crown, and seized it, placing it on my head. And you know how in dreams, sensory things don't translate well? I could feel it on my head, how light it was, how snugly and perfectly it fit me. It was truly a beautiful crown.
And as I'm reveling in the wonder of it, the man pursuing me comes up behind, takes out one of his arrows, and uses it to cut me behind my legs, sending me to my knees.
I think I woke up before I died. But god, I would certainly go back.
