sometimes the tragedy of distance is very simple. i want to get groceries with you
i want to get groceries with you. i want to show up with soup when you’re sick. i want you to knock on my door with no notice. i want you to call me out of the blue on a wednesday night asking for help getting a big piece of furniture you just bought back to your house. i want us to never worry about pet care when one of us goes away because we know the other will handle it. i want to bump into you at our local park and end up spending the afternoon together.
i want to get groceries with you. i want to not have to work so hard to spend time with you. i want to not miss you all the time. i want you in my life. i want you. i want.
Anne Sexton, from a poem titled "Loving The Killer," featured in The Complete Poems of Anne Sexton
“I like when I don’t have to be careful what I say. That’s when you know you’re with the right people.”
— Unknown
today is the ten year anniversary of the Pulse Nightclub shooting. a full decade ago, i lost a friend and a coworker. i was lucky. i had friends that lost several people. today, please remember and fight for all those that have died to live the life they should have been free to. i'll always remember you, Cory.
“Sometimes the people who once meant everything to you become strangers again, and you are left wondering how something so real turned into silence.” — Paulo Coelho
“Sometimes I look out airplane windows at night and think about the distance between the man I used to be and the one now studying stars above the clouds.”
“Listen to silence. It has so much to say.”
— Rumi
We romanticize the stars, but forget the dark is what made them visible.

the fact that i'm no longer the same age as the protagonists of novels and films i once connected to is so heartbreaking. there was a time when I looked forward to turning their age. i did. and i also outgrew them. i continue to age, but they don't; never will. the immortality of fiction is beautiful, but cruel.
