In defense of parents who only talk about their kids, watching your child go from a newborn to a toddler is like watching a (very loud) houseplant start walking and talking. A newborn is like if a pet rock could poop but a year later they are moving and grooving and babbling and clapping. Mind-blowing process to watch honestly. It's hard not to make every conversation about "hey this thing that was a barely animate object before and needed help farting just learned how to stack toys. What the fuck."
