This blog is going to remain up for the sake of having records of the Ophia project, but Ophia will not be worked on or revived due to other projects and new life situations. This was probably obvious already, but I'm just going to announce it to stay safe.

About Ophia
Well. That sure was a thing that never got to happen, wasn't it?
LectroNyx here. Sit down. Let's talk.
I've been thinking a lot about Ophia. There was a lot that it did right, but also a lot that it... didn't. I'm a busier person now, and as much as I want to redo this game project, I'm not sure if I'll be able to.
I think I'll still try, though. Why not?
I want to see what I can do now. I want to stretch my writing beyond poetry, edgy "deep" short stories, and silly fanfiction. I want to try another medium, and have something worth showing off tied to my name.
I will be rewriting Ophia very heavily. Even the moral of the story is changing -- make it something I not only feel strongly about, but also am able to properly present. I wasn't taking on a topic I was quite qualified for with what was going to be the "message" of the original story, and I certainly lacked anything resembling subtlety. If it were any more heavy handed with its message, it would be Detroit: Become Human.
Ayyyyyyyyy
Anyway. I will not promise anything, but I will say that I might be revisiting Ophia within the year. If I do take it on again, I will make it better than it ever was.
Thanks for reading. LectroNyx, out.
The State of Ophia
Mod Nyx here! We have been extremely quiet as of late -- partially because I've been the only active team member by any possible meaning of the word for a while. The game is very story-based, and as a result, I wanted the gameplay to fit the tale we were trying to tell. The plot certainly improved, and our cast definitely grew. A traditional JRPG fell out of the question -- instead, the sights were set on an SRPG (Think of Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy: Tactics, or Tactics Ogre). While I found a nice system to base it off of, the system is still very much a work in progress - and, as a result, has some serious issues that need to be addressed before I can really kick Ophia back into action. I can say this, though - Ophia will be an easier game, in comparison -- someone familiar with its respective genre won't struggle as much with it as they would have when it was a more typical RPG. I don't plan on pulling as many tricks, and there's a good chance you won't quite need to use absolutely everything in your arsenal when playing this. The story has changed quite a bit, though the basic idea and much of the original cast has made it to the new version. Their importance, context, and joining times have changed -- characters like Arkar have largely lost relevancy, while some have become far more important. The quality of the storytelling has improved, and characters have motivations that reach beyond evil cults -- people are more believable. Odds are, this story will be largely character-based. I won't give an ETA, but I will say that things will take a while. If it means giving you a better game, I believe taking our time on this project is for the best.
On the status of Ophia.
Hey, Mod Nyx here.
I’d just like to say - just about everything you’ve seen of Ophia is cance--
“DUDE WHAT THE FUCK WHY”
-- let me finish what I’m saying here.
I had lost a lot of interest in Ophia. Why? The story was really, really... bad. While I had the ending worked out, a lot of it was honestly just filler shit to drag you around the map and get you familiar with the world before the real thing would begin. I had no plans. I only knew one thing - I wanted to do this game.
And I did it horribly.
As a result, that version of Ophia is now gone. However, don’t be fooled - that does not mean Ophia is cancelled. Instead, I’ve been working on the story, and I really hope you guys will enjoy it. A lot about Ophia has been changed and retconned, with new bits of information taking its place.
Furthermore, Ophia aims to be a bit less of a cookie-cutter RPG. While it will still feel very RPGesque, there are still differences. Not just the beast people being more creaturesque than mere catgirls, but look at the limited availability of money, along with the lack of a grind and cities living up to the label.
There’s bits I’m fixing, though. For instance, the long introduction text. The poorly thought out city designs. The minimal exploration. The lack of options being provided to the player.
New Ophia will be much more like the original design than what I was making before, in terms of gameplay. The story will be significantly improved, and will shift focus from the religions of the land to Ophian politics and interactions with its neighboring lands, along with preventing the collapse of the country. Instead of battling a cult, I’m changing the idea of the story to something a tad more serious.
This will be good.
farewell, sassy priest
Mod Nyx here!
Along with the cool new look to lycans, there’s some changes to the story - namely, poor Fleur, and the poor history of Ophia.
No gods, no masters, only man. and dog.
after some reflection, I’ve decided that there were a metric shitload of plotholes. so, instead of being weak, i went and ironed them out. fixed em, even! while i cannot guarrantee a playable demo for testers or public within the month, i can say that the next demo will be a massive change from the previous. it might as well be a new game, simply put - it will include a class rework, modified story, new graphics, and overall be very, very different. You might even think I was working on it this whole time. Honestly, I took a ton of breaks. Stress is huge, especially in recent times - but I’ve at least solved some issues with Ophia that were honestly seriously bugging me!
one of them was fleur creating so many plotholes. he’s still in, but just a simple personality change made things make more sense.

Happy Birthday Mod Tama!
Due to recent life events for Mod Nyx, development on Ophia is officially on pause.
I’ll try to continue it at a later date, but with how everything is going for me right now, I simply must take an extended break (so that stress doesn’t break me)
2015 is coming to an end... Mod Nyx would like to talk.
As 2015 starts(?) to end, there's been a lot on my mind. Life, school, work, and Ophia. Needless to say, it sounds like a massive audience with a microscopic attention span. So as I sit on a bench in Florida, at the house of someone I hardly know... I think it's a safe assumption that I have things to talk about. Now, we only have 10 followers - and that's more than I expected! I really only thought four or five people would have any interest in this - and all of which would be very close friends of mine. Thank you for proving me wrong! There's not much support, since we're pretty unheard of, but the fact that there is any at ALL actually really excites me. Feels good, man... Now, there's not too much done so far, and I've hidden a grand majority of the story from even my own team for a variety of reasons. I generally keep them knowing just what they have to - they send their work, and I plug it in. It's an effective system, gets the job done. And... Well, I'm going to change that, but not my much. Believe it or not. They haven't seen the newest version of the game since October, but I swear I will try to get the next demo out in January. One goal I have is to include stranger content in the game. I want puzzles, and I swear it will happen - absolutely everything will have some sort of purpose (and not just "sell this"), but it won't always be obvious. Let's just say that some items, like the harp or worn fabric, may just be hiding something fun under the boring appearance. There is already some work done toward this, but nothing is really being done with it quite yet. Another notable change is already in - two types of playable characters. There are still only four permanent, but I have a working system for a temporary citizen character who will only fall once everyone else has. There are multiple in the game already - and some, in fact, will alter bonus conversations that can be initiated by interacting with some objects found throughout the game world - there aren't too many, and none of them are marked, so you'll have to look around a bit... But the temporary playables will affect these just like the permanent ones! We are (I am) also considering returning the multiple-endings-per-character system, though they will no longer change based on your skill. Instead, each character ending will change based on either certain hidden secrets (who knew such useless items could have such a huge affect on the timeline?), some minor choices made in story (don't expect much to change with the main story based on your decisions, though), and as a result of some side quests. Mind you, if you have one potential ending marked and it changes, many of them will not be able to be restored. Choose wisely if you know what you're doing and going for something specific - if you screw it up, you might be locked out for good! There's a few other things we have working beautifully, but I figured I'd just let out some of the ideas I've been trying to hide. Otherwise, the entire game can now be played in a point-and-click style, and I can confirm plans to make this available on OSX, Windows, and Android. This is Mod Nyx wishing you a happy holiday, happy new year, and overall pleasant experience with existence on this physical plane of reality or some shit! PS: Met with Mod Tama yesterday, and it was fantastic.
everything looks amazing so far :3
Thank you! Things have slowed down a little recently, but I’m honestly REALLY excited to show off something I’ve been working on in this. If you think what you see now is nice, just what’s been made in the past month or two will be incredible.

Nyx Talks About Public Reveals Of Ophia. Also, This Title Looks Too Much Like A BuzzFeed Article, Doesn’t It? I Am So Sorry.
Yo, Mod Nyx here! Now, you’ve surely noticed us going dead quiet. Us completely stopping, even... Well, I have some news for you.
Are things a bit slower than normal? I’d be a liar if I said they weren’t. However, I’d also be a liar if I said that a lot has been done, but not announced to the public. Ophia today is almost a totally different game from before the engine change. Some things have stayed, of course, but a lot has been removed... And a LOT has been added. Turns out the engine change was a bigger leap than I expected. I found myself not only fixing graphical issues, but also creating all new Skills to make sure the skillsets would work. Found myself reworking classes. Redesigning a lot of characters. Adding a new member to the team to help out with redesigns, to boot! There is so much that I had planned, but removed... And so much that I didn’t plan, but ended up finding myself adding.
We may not be the loudest anymore, but trust me - a lot is going on behind the scenes... And honestly? It only gets better from here.
Of course, there’s a lot that I’m also really excited to show off. Unfortunately, much of this is incomplete. However, I’m considering releasing a public demo just to show off our progress some time next year - spring 2016 sounds nice to me. Who knows, though? We’ll see what happens - and if I release a “demo,” it’s just to show off what we made at that point in time. The game was, is, and always will be free.
Nyx, out!
Hello, this is Tama/Jonathan again! Nyx will be the one posting this song, but this is the forest theme I made. I hope you all enjoy it, as this was a fun song to make. The ocarina feels almost mystical, doesn't it?
~Tama/Jonathan~
Yo, Nyx here! I’m just posting the audio, of course. Also worth noting that the portrait is not an actual part of a real map in the game. I mean, technically it is, but it is not accessible by normal means. It’s a special map made just for that one spot, which was made for this post! woah duuude...
Anyway, I’ve honestly been really excited to show this song off because damn it’s good. You guys wouldn’t believe how hard it is for me to actually keep a lot of the stuff for this game secret, n’or would you believe the inhuman noise of excitement I made when I was told I had permission to post this. Let this be your reminder that we’re still alive, and still working - we just haven’t shown much of what we’ve recently made at all to the public eye.
... My comment is too long. Whoops. Nyx out!
Quick Update
Hey, Mod Nyx here! Just leaving a quick update to the blog. The game is certainly still in development, and even though there has been no new testing versions made available to anyone quite yet, there IS work being made on things. Currently, however, work has slowed down due to personal reasons. Now, besides that, I'd also like to add in something - with the engine change (and resulting change in graphics), there will be an icon change for the blog. Along with that, character redesigns are practically guaranteed - so far, all humans in game look different from how they previously appeared. I'm trying to make better looking Lycans so that they can follow suite - and gargoyles (only listed because they are the only actual nonhuman, nonlycan monster in game currently) may or may not get redesigned too. Honestly, it seems like the gar might just get their new looks before the Lycans. The Soundtrack is coming along quite well. In fact, we might end up posting another song from it here soon - but I will not guarantee anything. Since Tama joined the blog, I've tried to control what does and doesn't get leaked a bit more than I used to, so revealing new things may take a tad longer (since I want to make sure the whole team agrees on what all is shown here). Anyway, what else is there for me to even say? Be nice, look both ways before you cross the street, and don't join evil cults that hate dog people. Mod Nyx, out!
