Athletes or human billboard ? Part 1

New liveries, new bikes.

Each new year it is the same. The pro racers show pictures of their new bikes and gear on the social medias. They are happily relayed by the papers and online magazines. At the same moment, every single bike related forum start buzzing from comments of fans about colors associations, bike brands and even how much the new kits are awkwardly revelating too much of the private parts of the riders.

Why should it matter to us? Will we root for the teams with the nicest kit? Do we have to leave a trace on the web about every single ad we encounter in our life?

Let’s face it, the most handsome rider with the most expensive rapha kit will always look like a clown to the non interested and untrained eye. Even Mario Cipollini. We all look like shit and it can only be worse with sponsors on our back. But that’s ok because bike gear is all about being comfortable while riding, and it is all that really matters.

No. We won’t illustrate this article with pictures of Cipo, the average fred or your favorite pro racer. Deal with it.
