Toxic old men yaoi is the best tag! One of my favorite moments of their exchange and the absolute peak of their drama is the Frankfurt Incident of June 1753. After their relationships falls into imminent disrepair, Voltaire leaves Prussia for the neutral Frankfurt with many of Frederick's incriminating letters and poems. With equal vengeance, Frederick has Voltaire and his entourage held "hostage" in an inn for weeks until he gets the incriminating poems back. Voltaire then sends Frederick at least one surviving letter where he implores Frederick to call off his hounds. After this humiliation, Volatire and Frederick do not speak for four years, but reconnect during the Seven Years' War and Frederick's bouts of suicidality. The drama is simply delicious!

There is so much drama there!! Honestly I wish I could've been there, like a fly on the wall, just to get all the gossip first hand haha
